And I would like world peace and a pony. I’ll settle for a pony.
I think I’ll get my pony before WoW goes sub-free.

A lifetime subscription option would also be great. I plan on playing Classic for very long and even returning after breaks, so for me it would be worth it in the long run to plump down a bunch of cash up front.
Doubt they will make such an option, though. Especially with the subscriptions bundled.
Why is this thread even a thing?
People wanted classic WoW #NOCHANGES and yet complain about having to pay a subscription fee which - as I’m sure they’re aware - is something we did in classic
You can pay for a years worth at a discounted price I believe.
In the Blizzcon press panel they said they have a complete 1.12 server running internally with the original code.
6 months at a time is most you can do at once.
Thanks
Ugh why have a 10 character limit?
I think this response from Ythisens means that Classic WoW will launch with progressive itimization and progressive content release in an eight step process. There will be no sharding at launch or ever throughout the classic experience. Loot trading will not be implemented as it will cause more issues than it solves. Wall jumping and moonwalking will be back in the game. Except no wall jumping in WSG. Spell batching will exist as it did back in Vanilla and all will be well in the universe. So it is worth it to pay the $15 monthly fee and have access to Modern WoW and Classic. Even if you don’t support current wow, which nobody would blame you for feeling that way. Oops sorry I was dreaming…
yes that is lame, I agree —sentence fluff provided from my phone, i hope you have you one.
Well now see you’re good beause they are actually giving us the content for the cost of just subbing. So in a way the content is free.
The sub covers the gaming service.
Read the EULA.
If it’s not worth it to you don’t play. It’s a simple choice.
Blizz is trying to give back to the players instead of being the heartless money grubbing company so many here believe them to be.
The service still costs money to maintain. Some of us are hoping to see other expansion servers to be released. Tbc, wrath, and mop.
You can easily check my armory on the old site. I’m not hiding anything.
This is the WORST argument in the entire thread.
and in vanilla the sub was paying for use of a server blade without sharding tech. oh boy.
It comes a set.
There’s another thread here about charging a box cost for WoW Classic, and the OP there determined that anyone who didn’t want to pay for Classic wanted a “free Vanilla shake” when I ordered a soda.
The same applies here. WoW is a set, you can’t take different parts out, you don’t get to customize your order.
The retail game has added more and more to that set over time, but you could never ‘not use’ the expansions. You’ve had World of Warcraft (Vanilla), The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor, Legion now as part of the base set. At no point before this could you “not use” part of the set until now.
Classic is the only way you can play what will be a version of Vanilla. When you bought this game, you knew it would be updated, whether you wanted it or not, and that’s what happened. Before now, they never let you play a previous patch or on a server without the expansions.
You never had an option before, other than to not play on a Blizz server. You only ever had one option.
So now you actually have the choice to choose which one you want to consume.
Whether or not you want the steak is on you, but it comes as a set.
What will never stop making me laugh is that you’ll be happy to pay for Classic as a separate sub, but as you will never be happy to get both for the same cost, and then only ever play Classic.
Let me reiterate the point: The initial analogy needs updating.
Its more like “buy this porterhouse steak and get a free soda”. The mad classical fan looks at this and thinks ‘woohoo! free drink!’ then runs to the restaurant.
They then argue that the drink is free with the steak, so why isnt the drink free.
‘But sir, you need to order the steak…’ says the wait-staff.
‘But free drink!’ responds the customer, completely oblivious to the realities of market forces.
'but sir;, suggests the barrista, ‘if you’d just order the steak, you can have the drink’.
“but i only want the drink!” remarks the customer. "I’ve no interest in the steak. If you’re giving out free drinks, shouldn’t i be eligible as well’?
The moral is, idiots cant be reasoned with. Just send them on their way back to private servers and the instability they long to escape.
Apropos of nothing, i’ve also seen the argument 'you’ve paid for the expansions, paying for a sub is (get this) extortion. EXTORTION??? Do you idiots even read the things you type? Two things. One: I’ve paid for all of this. I’m good to go with bfa. I pre-ordered it. But regardless of how many expansions i bought, i’m still locked out of the game without a sub. Why on earth are you special?
Second: Extortion? Play something else that gives you more value for money? Play a single player game? Cyber monday is coming up, find a game without a sub and pay for it. You want B2P prepare for mad restrictions to encourage you (hello eso and swtor) and pay that sub through other means (completely antithetical to vanilla by the way). Bog off with this nonsense. If you want to play this game then sub like the rest of us, or take your chances and hope that in a few months demand will plummet so deep that they’ll beg you to come back.
But honestly with all you people screaming how you definitely want to play, and all us people saying we definitely will play, and all those people in the main game peeking in from the sidelines and able to access the game through their current sub, i don’t honestly fancy your chances. The game is tied in. And rationally (and rightly) so. (eyes passim). You want to play this. You’re literally telling the marketing geniuses in blizzard you really want to play this. They’re going to be stoked. ‘demand is nuts, boss!’ they’re going to report back. ‘They really want this game’. ‘Not those 5 idiots on classic forums mind you, but everyone else is happy with a baked in sub…’
ETA 2: 2-5 of you on this thread are mad. Everyone else is fine. This is kinda backfiring, no? If i was blizz watching this thread, id be ecstatic. I lose the 2-5 of you here and now. But versus the mass of current players… sorry dudes. You’ve totally lost this fight.
it’s nothing like food because food because A sub lasts a month.
It’s like not paying for current wow for years (good for me, bad for them), because you feel it’s too costly for what you get in return. They decide to offer something with it, but you only want that extra something. Instead of offering a lower price for that something, it’s bundled with what you never wanted to play or pay for, (current wow)
They have every right to do so, it’s their business. But I can’t sell steel to a customer that doesn’t want to buy it.
Classic isn’t free. If you don’t want a sub go get one of those flash games on facebook that are fun for like 5min.
Gladly. Taking money elsewhere is the whole point of the conversation.
Then why are you still posting. You have said you won’t sub so there is nothing here for you. Move on.
Why don’t you want people playing your game?
