Issue: I boosted a level 1 Warlock on WoW Cataclysm Classic and Blizzard makes the decision by default to give you only access to the Succubus demon pet, and bans you from the Incubus.
Fix tried: I tried five times to have the Demon Trainer in Stormwind abandon the succubus, but only lost 250 gold to the vendor. When I contacted the support team about the issue, they would not fix it to allow me access to the incubus or to refund the stolen 250 gold. I feel cheated that I personally didn’t get to pick between the Succubus and the Incubus all because I boosted this warlock from level 1. The boosts do not have a disclaimer that the Incubus is banned to boosted warlocks.
Lessons learned: never count on Blizzard support to help you with an issue, even though it is a bug on their end. I opened the ticket back up to ask again for a refund of the 250 gold, but I do not think they’ll refund it.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT boost warlocks unless you’re certain that you don’t want the Incubus (because their boost will not warn you). (7/9/2024)
I was surprised too, but if they allowed the incubus on classic then they should allow players to be able to swap between succubus and incubus if they want to.
I didnt think you “picked” one. There was a quest line before cata that let you go unlock the incubus. My warlock has two summon spells, one for each version.
Edit: Yeah, I just logged on for the first time since cata on my warlock, and she still has both spells and they both work. It isn’t a choice where you can only have one type. (Unless warlocks created after cata have to pick while warlocks created before get to keep both, which seems unlikely. Maybe they didnt reintroduce the quest in the cata revamp? Incubus didn’t exist back then.)
When I spoke to Blizzard support, they said my character could not have an incubus due to already having the succubus spell. I never did a quest or picked either personally, the game/boost picked the default choice of succubus i guess. You’re fortunate and lucky to have both. (This all is only about Cataclysm Classic, not retail. On retail i can barbershop it and pick either one.)
Blizzard Support said I can’t. Plus, there is no quest for the incubus in Cataclysm on Alliance. I’ve tried going to the quest giver that gave it out prior to Cataclysm but he has no available quest.
