Dealing with brainwashed individuals leads to that, yes.
I don’t really know if it’s warranted or not. Idk most these people, but it’s pretty clear at least some of it is irrational fear left over from the red scare. It’s important to criticize governments but to make sure you’re doing it objectively. I mainly mention the people that just call all Chinese Communists and claim they are evil mustache twirling villains. That’s just a bad look on all of us more than anything.

I brought up Tencent because THEY are the ones that own everything digital. On the front of normal people apps like Wechat, Bilibili is a literal baby compared to Tencent, and on the front of pure games, Bilibili is then outmatched HARD by Netease.
Finally, if you know anything about Chinese people, you’d know that the ABCs are the idiots being sent to Chinese school for 10 years straight without learning a single thing about the language and avoid anything Chinese-related like the plague, which is why they would never go to Illidan to have their ineptitude rubbed in their face even more. The people on Illidan are either straight up playing from China, or people who are now living in the NA area but still speak Chinese as their primary language. AKA me.

See, if you said that on Bilibili or Tieba, your DMs would instantly be filled with actual death threats. The Chinese internet legit had a whole drama trying to cancel Full Metal Alchemist and its creator a while back, because that creator expressed pro-Taiwan sentiments.
This is also part of why I keep trying to convince you all that China is not some sort of passive victim that only wants peace lol.
