Wow and Free Speech and forum Censorship

No the first amendment is solely to limit the authority of congress. a business can refuse service for any reason as long as it doesnt violate the disability or civil rights act.
You being able to drop the n word in a diner is not protected and added fact the 2nd amendment doesnt give you gun rights, a 1971 court ruling does, and the 2nd amendment outlines congress ability to summon, fund, arm, and direct a militia outside executive control.

Let’s all just stop this BS. It’s boring and all you’re trying to do is get a reaction.

Go take your Elon bro BS back to Twitter.

What the hell are you talking about?

I understand the emotion behind that but while you are right about the speaker, you would be ill advised to beat someone up in the public square and not expect to be arrested.

That’s exactly what he’s open to. If you wanna ignore that, that’s on you. I’m perfectly fine not needing to make my own filters for garbage. I dont have some need to be immoral in this space. Go away and make your own space with blackjack and hookers.

No, he’s quite right. However, he’s wrong about what the result of that is. The result is exactly what we have. You can be banned from the forums, but won’t have action taken against you in any court of law. No governmental institution is going to punish you for what you said to get banned or kicked from a private service or establishment.

because some opinions are just vitriolic and hollow and add nothing to any conversation, thus they have no place on a forum

And we’re off!

Blizzard does not want their game environment to be a cesspool. I assume this crosses over into legal territory where they don’t want to get sued by parents or anyone else for having a place that permits the worst of the worst (see websites that don’t exist anymore for that reason). Period. The same rules apply across all their games. The filters are there because some people still can’t follow the rules they agreed to.

Personally, I am just fine with private property owners being able to set standards of behavior, dress, etc. I have the right to determine what happens in my home or business, within the limits of the law, and to escort those out who do not wish to follow said rules.

That does not violate their free speech. That is limited to the Govt arresting you for speaking out against the Govt or leaders.

They are free to say what they want, but they are not free from the consequences. Consequences being that they may be asked to leave.

Very right wing of you!

This isn’t an accusation, and I’m mostly joking about the irony of the shift in political stances in the United States over the years. Just adding this so you know I’m not actually trying to start a fight or label you.

Well, for the profanity filter: It’s there to protect people from profane people; it’s not there to give you a license to be as profane as you can possibly be. Language rules still apply, regardless of any filters.

Why the censorship? Because WoW is like one big, ongoing party. Everyone whom pays the entry fee can join, but you still have to abide by the rules. If what you say makes a great number of people uncomfortable, Blizzard reserves the right to throw you out of the party for a specific amount of time, in which they hope that you learned what you can and can not do.

If you don’t like that analogy, I got another one for you.

Just because you are free to say what you will, does not mean everyone has to give you a platform for which to speak from. While Blizzard’s reputation has taken a hit within the last few years, they probably do want to foster a place for people to interact together without the fear of running in to Foul-Mouth McGee, whom can’t speak without every other word being either a curse word, or hateful.

I am so sad I can’t link the XKCD comic without getting in trouble.

It is very ironic that the very “conservative” side who normally champion private property rights and rights of corporations/capitalism, get upset about the same thing.

Because you shouldn’t be able to just say anything because sometimes it hurts people words hirt

Blizzard should have an exception to the rules for XKCD.

Cause there’s always a relevant XKCD.

Someone going to jail will be little comfort when you have your jaw wired shut for 6 months. There is a reason people self regulate in public when there is actual risk involved. Most people have more sense than to shoot their mouth off in a public square about things that may get them mobbed.

You already acknowledged this is not the case in the first part of your post, when you separated private from government entities.

The constitution has no bearing on this private forum. Its owners can censor or moderate it as they wish.

It cracks me up often. Though, on these forums, it’s become more exhausting than entertaining.
