Then don’t read and ignore it. You don’t have to be English teacher here.
Yes, classic and every other game I have on steam runs with 0 issues (cyberpunk, BO6, path of exile, etc) and WOW is the only game that seems to run into this issue
Mostly because of how wow is…
It relies on the cpu far more then nearly any other game on the market. I don’t think all memory crashes are tied to intel chips alone but the 13th gen is an issue. Performance in wow is mainly tied to your CPU where most of the time with games you are bottlenecked with your gpu.
Oof that sucks. Sorry to hear that.
Yea, I’m not the first person to have this issue obviously so I’m glad I’m not alone😂
Really sucks that I might have to get a new CPU, any suggestions tho, I currently have a i7 14700k and if this is gonna be an issue then I’ll switch it up unless you think just getting a new 13-14 gen CPU would still work if I got a new one
I know one thing when I go into my task manager, I see something like a dozen versions of battle net as well as multiple versions of Warcraft running simultaneously and I don’t understand why.
Probably off topic, It’s just curious to me. It doesn’t seem to be normal with other games to have so many what looks like redundant versions running simultaneously.
Could that be taxing the system?
I used to run a kill it all app. That reduced all my processes down to just the bare bones to run certain games because I didn’t have enough RAM
It doesn’t have anything to do with what you’re running and the 14th generation processor can be bricked passively as I understand it, because the design/code is bad and has random voltage spikes.
Yea my task manager has like 8 battle.net tabs open for some reason and 1 WOW.exe launched but the game never loads
I think you just have to update your BIOS. I was getting the same message and updated mine and that solved the problem
Yea I’ve tried updating it like 20 different times but it doesn’t seem to work, I’ll try again tho and see what happens
Updated to 0x12b microcode? Some manufacturers don’t have this available yet, especially for prebuilt systems, such as corsair which only goes to 0x129 right now.
Yes, I did it on release cause I heard about the news back in August about the CPU issues
Then I dunno, 0x12b BIOS update should have fixed it. For some systems if you use auto-update it may not be going to 0x12b but to 0x129 or whatever.
I’ll try again in a sec and let you know
I got an i7 13th gen about 6 months ago when I built a whole new system. In your position I’d probably try another 14th gen i7 or maybe a 13th gen i7. If you wanted to go with AMD you’d have to replace your motherboard as well…
So I redid my motherboard BIOS and no luck, time for a new CPU
Good luck, hopefully the next one you get will be good.
I’m going to lose my mind if it doesn’t work…
Just a comment on your lack of folders.
The reason that you don’t have any save folders, is that you have not been able to log in. Until you can login and load a toon, the folders will not be created. Just what I have observed in the past.
BIOS updates can be problematic because if you use the wrong update, the power cuts even for a second during it, etc. you essentially brick your CPU.
I was actually saved by the wrong update, as my Bios refused to boot the first one I had downloaded. The one I downloaded was the non-wifi version. Thankfully it refused to try to install it, and then I realized my mistake and got the proper one.
Then I had to do it again when WoW started giving the error as apparently they released more updates to fix more potential problems. Hopefully I do not have to do it again cause even if it’s “easy” it’s nerve wracking.
If you have a 13 or 14 gen CPU and it’s already crashing, as far as I’m aware - it’s too late. You have to get a new CPU, the damage is done and it will just get worse.
I’m still worried mine might be damaged even though I haven’t crashed yet. To my recollection. Like I vaguely remember one crash a few months ago but it was after I did the first BIOS update and I can’t remember if it crashed my PC or just the game. Lol.
