I am toying with the idea of making a Gnome tank but in the past I remember people saying, Gnomes should play mage or warlock but not the tank. They should stay ranged, stay behind and be invisible.
I didn’t think much about it at the time but now that I am thinking of making one, it bothers me.
Is it that bad? Gnome tank? Tanks should be Big and Strong and dependable right? and a Gnome tank just doesn’t look sturdy enough, right?
I mean the job doesn’t have the, “You have to be this tall to tank” so I guess it’s alright.
Based on the amount of whispers I get moments after logging in asking me to tank by people I’ve tanked with in the past, I’d say plenty of players are ok with a Gnome tank. At least in my realm.
Just dont line of sight your healers behind a pebble.
Gnomes make fine tanks. Free snare removal is extremely helpful even in PvE. Can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been netted and wished I was a gnome in a dungeon.
On the other hand, have you ever seen a Tauren with a Thunderfury?
there’s no tanks. people will be happy with any warrior
I don’t think you’re going to have a problem. Some people are willing to pay for tanks. Some people are willing to heal a 2h tank. So, there’s got to be people out there who would take a Gnome tank.
It’s fun being in the exclusive group.
Just sucks when you get large packs and you can’t see your character due to size.
Gnome warrior killing you in pvp then doing that laugh emote is like the worst thing ever. So yeah I support Gnome warriors.
Well that’s funny that you mention it because the biggest raiding guild on my server actually I believe have bulk gnome warriors for some reason. It’s very odd anytime I’m grouped up with a gnome warrior or see a stacked out gnome warrior it’s always from this particular guild. So no it’s totally viable
I’ve only gnome tanked in retail on a DK and it’s awesome. Though in Classic I’d hate to give up the human +swords racial.
Best thing about Gnome Tanks in PvE scenarios is breaking snares that aren’t magic abilities. Really helps getting back to the healers and ranged dps for support.
If you don’t care about min/maxing then sure. Humans are technically the best Alliance Warriors, but Gnomes are pretty good in PvP because you get a root break.
Gnomes are the strongest race for an Alliance pvp warrior. Dwarf is second place. Nelf is third, because the wisp form will help you run back faster after you die from not choosing dwarf or gnome. Human is bottom tier for pvp.
PVE is tuned such that racials dont matter, everyone can beat it. In PVP, that EA can be the difference between life and death. Likewise with dwarf stoneskin.
Human and nelf warriors are literally hamstringing themselves in pvp by not picking gnome or dwarf.
See, this is where you are showing your shortsightedness, pun intended. You see, a truly experienced group will have a designated punter. The gnome tank never has to pull. They simply get punted into a group of mobs, where upon landing, they instantly pull threat on the whole group. This is a very real advantage that only gnome tanks possess.
Please do more research before posting your misinformed opinions.
I wouldn’t want a gnome tank, but that has nothing to do with it being a warrior.
I just don’t want to group with gnomes, regardless of class/roll.
They are disgusting.
Lucky for you, I don’t group with Trolls. And there are a surprisingly large amount of them on the Alliance.
I tanked on a gnome warrior through BC when it came out (not vanilla). I only stopped because the night WotLK dropped I rolled a DK and fell in love with the (broken) class at the time and went with that.
Gnomes are amazing for PvP. Humans are slightly better if you’re using a sword in PvE. Stoneform for Dwarves is nice and who honestly plays a night elf who isn’t 12?
There is nothing more annoying than being murdered by a gnome in pvp. Nothing.
I can’t trust what I can’t see. Tanks must be taller than a gnome.
“I do not doubt his courage… Only the reach of his sword-arm”
