Would you rather be level 70 or 140?

Assuming the level squish didn’t happen in Shadowlands

Would you think level 140 would have been better or being level 70 is ok?

Lv 140 is just absurd. Imagine grinding 1 to 140. Screw that.

Squish us to 50 and make us level to 60 every time I say!

70 is a much nicer number.

This is what I thought they were going to do after every expansion TBH.

I sincerely do not care. Levelling feels completely superfluous at this point. Its just there to act as some kind of tutorial mode at best.

PvP rating, renown progression, raiding progression and M+ rating are the only real progression values.

Even Ilvl is debatable since your gear will always even out as you progress through the 4 systems above (to varying degrees).

the actual level makes no real difference. The thing is how long it takes to get to max level.

In classic, it would take 4-7 days to get to max level in an expansion. Days…as in each days times 24 hours.

Poeple out in the world would put “ding” in the zone chat and other people would cheer then because it took you hours of questing to reach each level.

Today, you can dungeon grind 60-70 in a handful of hours.

I am not saying one way is “better” but the number is just that.

I don’t care about the number. I do care that the squish messed up scaling. So if scaling were correct by not squishing, I’d say 140.

I’d rather 69 be max level

Makes no difference, big numbers don’t scare me.

As long as I can still 1 and two shot trash in the open world, couldn’t care less what the numbers are.

level 140. level 70 feels silly.

At endgame levels are irrelevant, but for leveling bloated levels might as well be poison for new players.

Just keep squishing the levels every three expansions TBH.

140 lesss gooooo

It would still be the same amount of experience needed to level cap.

I want to be level 999 with damage capping at 9999.

The appearance of it would not though, particularly for a brand new player.

Even if it takes just as much time, it’s silly.

The idea that there’s 140 distinct steps from “zero to hero” is crazy. Once you get too may levels, it makes all levels that much more meaningless.

I hate the idea of continuous squishing, as it just wreaks havoc on everything.

I’d have no problem with the next expansion being level 75, then 80, then 85, etc. for the mid-term. It’s not like levels 71, 72, 73, or 74 will be at all meaningful (nor would 75-79 if we jumped to 80). At least in BfA each level gave us some random, mostly useless buff.

But the raw truth is that you’re either “max level” or “not”, and level is simply an indicator of “how far until max level” rather than any useful manifestation of power. Scaling “fixed” all of that.

So, anyway, fewer levels is better now. We should be running around level 40. 10-20 being “old world”, 35 being SL, and 40 being DF. Just to give us more room in the future before the next squish.

Too many levels just looks ridiculous. Between 60 and 100 is as far as it should ever go.
We can progress in other ways once we hit max character level.

I actually really dislike the squish.
A level 30 is indistinguishable from a level 50.
I couldn’t tell you what level a WOTLK or Cata raid was. It used to be super easy. It also makes a huge mess of the timeline.

WOTLK level 80.
TBC level 70.
MoP level 90.
Class level 60.

It’s clear what order they go in.

I think they could have just continued to do +5 levels an expansion and it’d have been fine. I also don’t care if DPS is 60M vs 60k. It’s all relative.

So I guess 140, although Blizzard could have done +5 levels so maybe we’d actually be like 120.

i think they should do an un-squish and make all numbers much bigger. current level 70 should map to like level 700

I think the leveling system in wow is a relic of a bygone era.
It should just be replaced entirely with a new system.

The squishes don’t work; they’re like band-aids on a hemorrhaging wound.

Anyone who has leveled 10-60 knows well enough that there is NO care in leveling.
