Would now be a bad time to start a new class?

I wanted to try a new melee spec, and was deciding between Outlaw or SV but with how many changes are coming in Midnight, and the current changes not even being set in stone, would now be a dumb time to try something new?

My major concern is like, I play SV and say “oh hey this is really fun. I like this” and then it’s completely different in a few months.

You’ll still get a few months out of it, and not every ability is going away so you will still obtain some familiarity with any given spec.

Takes like 1-2 days of light play to catch up for the most part gear wise atm so really no reason not to if you feel like it.

We have 4-5 months left of this expansion. It’s definitely not a waste of time to learn something!

Talent calculators are up and Beta should be soon, if you’re playing something now that you enjoy you’ll probably still like it even with some changes. Right now you can read through the changes and get a general idea even tho more changes will happen

I’m gonna be honest not too much is changing for Outlaw in Midnight from TWW (as of right now). Rotation is mostly the same but you’re not pulling the slots lever with Crackshot every time you come out of stealth.

Already made the joke about “my bars in TWW vs Midnight” and it’s the same picture with a “2” drawn over Cheap Shot in MS Paint.

Isn’t there some kind of exp buff if you level in Legion Remix? Thinking about trying BM Hunter since I usually don’t play ranged classes.

It’s really hard to say. SV felt really different from just S1 to S2. In the end, you just have to pick something that’s fun at the time and roll with it. I have been playing SV since WoD and I basically didn’t touch it last season. It’s better this patch, so I’m enjoying it again.

Think so? I haven’t stayed up on all the news, but it seems so odd to me we’d have such a short expansion. Definitely not enjoying the pacing.

The official statement is “on or before June 30th. 2026” but I think there was some leak that it was targeting a late February launch.

I’d be surprised if it launched so early next year, though with the “Worldsoul Saga” expansions being announced as a trio, maybe it wouldn’t be too shocking if each was a shorter experience, around a year and a half instead of the ~2yr expansion cycle we’re used to.

Honestly, if so much is changing functionally and mechanically with all these different specs, I kind of want to get into it and get used to it as fast as possible, rather than have all the tools in my current kit knowing they’re going to be ripped out lol and dwelling on that for a few more months lol.

I can understand that. For me, I hate how rushed the game is. I hate that ilvl increased and now there is more to farm. I hate that I did a +10 dawn breaker and 3 different bugs wiped us and the key got abandoned. I hate that tons of content I used to enjoy is basically unplayable because Blizzard refuses to address major issues.

The priority of shoving out yet another expansion, and likely one that will be half baked, is getting annoying.

I have a pretty narrow field of play in WoW so I can’t comment much haha. All I do is casual PvP and cooking / fishing / transmog farming, and soon housing, though PvP often feels unplayable in the figurative way since it never gets proper attention.

But I can imagine the frustration you and other players are going through with other content, and I can also imagine it leaves a bad taste in the mouth if a new expansion is on the horizon for Feb when it feels like there’s a laundry list of things that need addressed already.

Hmmm why

Thanks for calling that out bro.

I am only playing 2 toons atm and have really tried to focus on only one per week. I.E. doing my 8 keys at minimum and maybe 6 heroic fights. Past that, some PvP. I think I play a decent amount considering… 20-30+ hours. I did get pretty unlucky on my mage, but was finally getting it to a good spot for gear. Now instead of being a few weeks behind, I again have tons of farming todo if I want to stay even remotely competitive. And by competitive I mean just getting into decent groups for keys. I’m not even pushing that hard, but it already is difficult todo anything but my own keys.

This is just going to burn out players.

I get people don’t like too many gaps in content, but being able to mellow on content is also nice. Like I just got some decent items on my mage a week ago and now I’m farming more stupid crests instead of focusing on pushing keys.

Have they considered doing a bit less

Not really mutually exclusive.

If what you enjoy in the game is pushing content and not farming, it’s an issue with the game, not the players, though you seem to like to hate on players first.

Because they’re usually playing wrong ya

“its miserable doing 8 keys on 6 chars a week” like maybe don’t do that

It’s never the fault of the player. We are playing within the confines of a system that is designed by Blizzard. Wanting to be competitive, which you do as well, shouldn’t be a big ask… but it is right now for some content. While PvP doesn’t have a great equivalent, if you all of a sudden had to farm out another 4-5 pieces of gear, it would be annoying for everyone.

Who said it’s miserable? Being unfun isn’t miserable. Players can get burnt out even if they enjoy something.

Regardless, being annoyed that the game is constantly pushing for play time is bad. I have typically been against the arguments that revolve around play time metrics, but currently it’s hard to see this as anything but that.

nah it’s almost always the players

idk how all these people even have fun the way they torture themselves for free

farming crests is like 2% of the time you’ll spend pushing keys for instance

Why be so dramatic? Torture? I said something is unfun and you’re inserting hyperbole.

The players don’t design the game. If something isn’t fun, that’s on the developer.

No it’s not. Even if you’re doing all 10s, you’re getting about 1 upgrade level on one piece of gear per key done and we just added a ton of stuff to upgrade. Realistically you’re looking at 30+ keys and for many specs, that’s pushing your own key because you don’t get invites. I did my +10 last night and the tank wiped us multiple times so the key got dropped. Now I have to push my 9 back up, but no one wants to join 9s so it usually means trying to push a 7 to +3 to get another 10.

to what end
