Would disabling .NET Framework 3.5 , .NET 2.0 and 3.0 be detrimental?

I have this problem where I cannot update windows. Only the 2004 feature update is causing me problems. I get a generic 0xc1900101 driver error. I tried like 8 times.

I think I might have found a solution, but this is how it goes :

“Press the Windows key on your keyboard, type “Windows Features”, and press Enter. The Turn Windows features on or off dialog box appears. Unselect the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) check box, select OK, and reboot your computer if prompted.”

But before I try this I would really like to know if it’s going to be a problem in the long term, and if WOW needs these features to function.

I would really hate to get bricked out of wow you see. I think I could probably turn the check box back on, but I thought I’d ask here first to save me some stress.

Ty.

This is a pretty common error. It can be tripped for a number of reasons. Have you seen this? https://windowsreport.com/fix-0xc1900101-error/#:~:text=If%20you’re%20getting%20the,try%20to%20upgrade%20it%20again.

My buddy got the same error. All he did was update his Bios. Fixed the issue

Btw NEVER disable .netframework If you think thats the issue uninstall/reinsall it

I saw similar stuff before yeah. I used to have second hand peripherals, so I bought new ones. I unplugged everything that isn’t essential. I have enough drive space. I looked in device manager and there’s no problems there. It’s a two year old Ryzen PC, so I doubt a BIOS update is necessary. I do not have a lan card to disable, as far as I know.

I would still need to run a sfc scan, and maybe try the media creation tool.

Updated your Bios? Bios update is actually almost always required with Ryzen Processors. Also on top of keeping your Bios up to date you need to keep your CPU chipset up to date. Both are equally important with Ryzen.

If you tell me your motherboard I can try to get you links on where to download them from.

See I’m glad I came here. Thank you. What are those frameworks anyway?

And maybe the next step is to try a BIOS update after all. You know, funny thing is I have a feeling this is my fault. When I first activated windows on my pc, Microsoft sent me an email with a procedure to follow. I had like 10 days to enter a text in the command prompt. I remember I waited until the last minute to do it, like literraly midnight. Because I suck! I fear I may have waited too long, and now it’s causing roadblocks.

If you are familiar with the process? Go to the support section for your motherboard on the manufactures website. Download two things.

  • BIOS Update
  • Chipset Driver Update

If not. I can help you but I need to know your exact motherboard

Do you know a way to find that out? I bought the PC all assembled.

Then thats really easy. Whats the PC? I need the name and model #
BTW .NET Framework is part of the core software on your computer. Disabling it could make half your apps and drivers stop working.

Gah! All I have access to are specifications.
The only place I saw the name was on the box, two years ago.

Ryzen7 1800X, 8 core processor. 3.60 Ghz.

It will be on a sticker on the tower. Normally the back near the windows sticker with the windows serial number

There was no sticker, but it’s a clear case and I can see the model inside, printed on the mobo :

Gigabyte GA-A B350M-DS3H
NVMe PCIe Gen 3 x4 22110 M.2

And it’s pretty strange that this was offered a sa solution if it makes your whole system useless.

I’m mediocre, and I hate this stuff. It stresses me out to no end. I did update a bios like 10 years ago. If you can only provide some tips, I’m sure I could find a detailed step by step on google.

Your Chipset

Your Bios
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350M-DS3H-rev-1x/support#support-dl-bios

Update the chipset first. Thats easy because you do it within windows.

If that doesnt fix the issue you may need to update your bios. Do NOT try to update the BIOS though without someone who KNOWS what they are doing helping you!

LOOK AT THE NOTE! On your chipset! “AMD Chipset Driver
(Note) Win10 ver.2004 supported

Id call that a clue

Step #1 download and install the newest chipset from the link I gave you along with the newest APU. These are the files you need

  • AMD Chipset Driver
    (Note) Win10 ver.2004 supported.

OS: Windows 10 64bit

  • AMD APU Driver
    (Note) Win10 ver.2004 supported.

OS: Windows 10 64bit

Step#2 Reply here and tell me if that fixed the issue. If not its your BIOS

Thank you kind sir! (but you posted the same link twice). I might have to look for help then, for the mobo. I know I saw a certified microsoft engineer who goes to your house and only asks to be paid if he fixes the problem. Must be expensive though. But this is good. I averted a tragedy and I got a new lead. I’m just worried because if the problem was with the mobo or chipset, I think I we would have heard about it by now?

ty for your help!

No you dont! Dont pay anyone. Lets try the chipset and APU first!
Its the top two files on this page. Download and install them like you would any driver. Chipset and apu is simple to update.

APU.

These are the files you need

  • AMD Chipset Driver
    (Note) Win10 ver.2004 supported.

OS: Windows 10 64bit

  • AMD APU Driver
    (Note) Win10 ver.2004 supported.

Try it NOW! Reply either way. Weather it fixes or doesnt fix your issue. If it does GREAT! If it doesnt I will hop on discord with you tomorrow and walk you through how to update your bios.

Remember download both the chipset and apu drivers. Install both. Each one will require a restart. As I said those two are easy. You install them from within windows like any other driver.

BIOS is a different ball of wax. Do NOT attempt that on your own unless you have someone with you who knows 100% what they are doing! Like I said if updating the chipset and APU dont fix it. Reply here. I will set up a time to meet you on discord and help you update your bios.

2004 supported is indeed a good clue. I downloaded them both, but now I don’t know what to do with them. Told you I was mediocre haha.

Whats your discord name? I will invite you to my channel

Sorry, I do not have Discord. And I don’t have a mic. But if it’s that simple I can look for a step by step I guess

Both files you downloaded are very simple. They are both winzip files. Open the chipset first. Its a self installer. Open and install it

Then Open the APU after the restart. Install it.

All you should have to do is double click the files in the zip folder you downloaded for each
