Would deleting my Battle.net Account clear my post history?

I’m really really hesitant to do this obviously because I don’t want to lose my full Bnet Library and Hearthstone Card Collection but I’ve been having a paranoid streak lately about what I’ve posted online over the years and clearing all my accounts… And I’ve noticed I have posts on other Blizzard game forums but I’m paranoid still, even though I can’t find anything really personally endangering posted there I still feel like I don’t like that my posts are there forever and visible to everyone forever.

I’d like to know if it’s possible to have it cleared without having to delete my account or if deleting my account is the only option… If it is I’d like to know how, because though it pains me a LOT to lose all these years (!!!) worth of games and money wasted my anxiety just won’t quit and it would give me peace of mind.

No. Deleting a character (or account, in which case delete really isn’t the right word) does not eliminate posts on the various forums.

EDIT to add:

Now, that said, some of the forums might allow you to delete posts (like this one) or edit them. You could go back through your post history to find the ones that legitimately could reveal personal information and remove or edit those.

Separately, personal information is far more likely to be available from other sources than gaming sites. A site like Facebook (where you’re supposed to use your real name) is far more likely to reveal all sorts of personal information than a site where you’re using a character name to post.

Last, if you haven’t already seen a health professional, check out what options are available to you. Paranoia can be very challenging because if you let it get past a certain point, you won’t seek help because you can fear the very people who want to assist.

First off, Battle.net accounts can’t be deleted. There’s a way to have all the personal info on it purged (forever) making the account forever non-recoverable. But it would still technically exist.

You’re welcome to put in a ticket to see if your posting history can be purged, but other than losing your posting privileges permanently (from inappropriate posts), there’s not really a way to have them deleted I don’t think. And that was really on the old forums, not sure if that’s the case here.

Feel free to try putting in a ticket here:

Worst they can say is no

One thing you potentially could do if it is that big a deal is stop posting from this Battle.Net account and make a new one that you solely use to post. There would be no association between the two.

Generally, though, just stuff where you’re being “young and dumb” is pretty par for the course for a lot of people, and few really care enough to go digging for it all. (I think there’s actually still records of game reviews I did for Playstation games in the 90’s under one of my regular nicknames. If someone wanted to dig that up, whoop-de-doo.

In about a week, they’re going to be offline. Don’t sweat it too much.

Reality check to everyone… in case the obvious hasn’t been so obvious to everyone…

Anything posted on the internet (ANYTHING, in caps for emphasis), is out there forever.

What people fail to realize is that there are bots out there that capture information from websites and store them elsewhere. There is a very prominent one known as the Wayback Machine. You can recover posts made on the original WoW forums back when WoW was released. This is not the only such site out there doing this.

So, for the record, ANYTHING you post on the internet is not something you have control over… ever.
