So I’m already expecting the majority answer to be Sylvanas, but is it? A DH would likely value “pragmatism” over honor, but I could also see a DH having legitimate concerns about the direction in which Sylvanas is leading the Horde. DHs have sworn themselves to be protectors of Azeroth, so is it plausible they would see Sylvanas as a global threat and ally with Saurfang instead?
That depends on the Demon Hunter I suppose. Do they value their BE culture more, or do they value getting the job done at any cost more? If its the prior, then they’ll likely take issue with “The Burning of Teldrassil” lacing their racial name with hypocrisy (as it is a mirror of “The Fall of Quel’thalas”) and will side with Lor’themar when he inevitably turns on Sylvie. If they care more for “Pragmatism”, then Sylvie’s tactics may seem reasonable; depending on the objective of those actions … and may side with her.
It should be noted however that what can be seen as “Pragmatic” can vary from person to person, and more importantly we still (TO DATE) do not really know what Sylvanas’ personal motives (her “True Objectives”) for this war even are; only knowing that she has them (thanks to “A Good War”). Its decidedly hard to judge if someone’s actions towards a goal are functionally “Pragmatic” or not … without actually knowing what that goal is for comparisons sake.
Well, Demon Hunters chose their path to fight demons and seek revenge against the Burning Legion, and we’ve already seen Sylvanas’ Horde compared to the Legion so…
Probably Saurfang.
For my Demon Hunter - ignoring that he’s a Night Elf for a moment - he sees a lot of disconcerting parallels between Sylvanas’s methods and the Legion’s. He’s also outraged that she’s destroying so much of the world he sacrificed everything to protect, so there’s that.
That’s actually pretty much how my DH sees things. He sees Sylvanas as destroying everything he worked for to protect just to satisfy whatever cause she’s got up in her head.
Depends, do DH’s want to protect the world or destroy it?
I mean, the answer is pretty obvious, especially since DH’s have no real loyalty to their faction other than for gameplay reasons, similar to how DK’s kinda are. Except unlike DK’s, they weren’t revered heroes of their race before their transformation, they just shared Illidans’ sentiment that the Legion was the greattest threat to their world and abandoned their faction/race to join him on his crusade.
Their singular purpose in life has been to make sacrifices for the protection of Azeroth from the Legion or ay other foe, so they’d likely see Sylvanas and her Forsakens’ desecration of the world and destruction of life as detrimental to their goals and would seek to put an end to it.
Well MY Demon Hunter sees the Sindorei as his people, and the Horde as his people. Those who threaten either of those are as good as a demon to me. And must be hunted and dealt with.
As Sylvanas is leading the fight for the Horde against those who would threaten the Sindorei and the Horde, while Saurfang will spare the enemy in hopes that the Alliance will defeat the Horde…
Yes. The answer is obvious.
Thank you all for the responses, I think I’m sold on Saurfang for this DH. Makes more sense to me that a DH would see Sylvanas as too big a threat to Azeroth to leave unchecked, and would ally with Saurfang instead.
so naive, this is why peple fail so hard to se the obvious
"sylvanas fight for the horde and the sin’dorei" is the most fake news warcraft can get
Starting a war Saurfang himself said had low chances of winning while the planet is literally dying of giantsworditis seems hardly pragmatic or benefitial for the horde and the sindorei
A threat that happened because Sylvanas thought starting a war based on a possibility is a great idea and thus creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of our existence being threatened by the Alliance.
And in the process she does more and more things reminiscent of what the Legion did. If we do nothing, the Horde will truly become no better than the Legion and destroy all of Azeroth with this folly. We did not defeat the Legion only to have our world torn apart by fools.
In your words: Yes. The answer is obvious.
Drakemallard is my DH , btw
Maybe if I were … as you say… a … “peple less nave”, I could “se” what you mean…
I wouldn’t insult your ignorant use of the language if you weren’t clearly insulting me as naive. Or nave, as you say. But if you want to throw stones, I won’t be a Tiffin Wrynn - I will throw them back.
Your incoherent, insulting ravings are typical of anti Sylvanas posters.
The Illidari are no strangers to genocide. They slaughtered the Ashtongue and Maiev’s watchers, taking no prisoners, and used their souls in horrify demon magic.
So… If they believed Sylvanas is doing something for a greater good, then they would probably side with her. I think an honorable DH would be rare, so those that side with Saurfang probably would do so because they see Sylvanas’ actions as senseless and not serving any higher purpose. Not because they have any sense of honor.
Entirely depends on the individual Demon Hunter, their morals, and their motivation.
It really depends which flavor of DH they are, i.e. if they’re more Kayn or Altruis. Or heck, even if they’re more Kor’vas since Kayn and Altruis are both idiots (and I’m still cranky about the fact we’re forced to choose between them since given a choice I would have just stuck them both in a Get Along sweater, but I digress).
However, even with the more Kayn types of DH, that’s ONLY if they see Sylvanas as actually working for the greater good, and ONLY if they put Sylvanas on a similar pedestal to Illidan. Otherwise I can see even them not wanting to go along with things.
It really can go either way depending on how each individual sees things, and how much of a blind (hehe) follower they are.
Illidan may have realized himself he did not handle things well in the past, but that doesn’t mean all DH’s think that way. So it really ultimately comes down to how you play your DH.
yeah, i just forget the I, maybe i dunno, im dislexic, or something, but sure, when we have nothing to talk, lets go for the gramar, never fail
feel free to proof wrong where she care for the horde or the elves, when she said lots of time she don’t
I’ve played my BE DH as a a stranger in a familiar land type, he’s finally returned home to the place and people he fought so hard and gave so much to protect, but doesn’t recognize them anymore. He gave sylvanas the benefit of the doubt at first due to her reputation as Former ranger general but the war of thorns quickly got rid of that and reminded him of the genocide done to his people. All he cares about is protecting quel’thalas now, and even then he has moments where he wonders why he even bothers.
He’s trapped, his NE DH brothers would kill him on sight after teldrassil, the void elves would destroy the sunwell with their very presence, and his own people are seemingly following the very same monsters that tried to kill them years ago. he has nowhere to go. He has to help Blaine and saurfang or let sylvanas destroy the world, no matter how much he hates humans and the alliance as a whole.
I believe there is enough wiggle room for either depending on your loyalty to illida a way of thinking, if you truly believe the ends justify the means always you can find a way to support sylvanas, i think it’s just easier to rationalize supporting saurfang.
The demon hunter shall fight for quel’thalas and azeroth, not petty wars of a paranoid idiot.
I dislike saurfang and my monk would remain neutral between the 2 if it was an option, and i would veiw the blood elven Illidari to as well until sylvanas proves to be a threat to their loved ones.
Sylvanas isn’t pragmatic, she’s just void of morality.
She burnt the Horde’s greatest asset in this war (Teldrassil), created another political schism, and is managing to lose to the Alliance on virtually every.
Just as Blizzard intended.
On topic, yeah, Teldrassil would’ve been a pretty solid ‘nope’ moment for the Illidari. I’m not even sure if I remember how exactly they join one faction or the other.
