WOTLK would kill Classic

With layers being removed and players leaving classic (likely due to greasy no-lifers camping low level quest areas because their lives are pathetic and they dont have a job), I am concerned for the health of classic.

I think TBC and eventually WOTLK would cripple classic down to only a handful of realms that would be filled with no-lifers frozen in 2004-2005 (ironically just like the Lich King).

Then it wont be threads about classic killing retail.

It will start with TBC killing Classic, then it will be the WOTLK killing TBC and putting Classic out if its misery.

Nah. It won’t.

Has there been any evidence that blizz is planning on developing additional servers with different expansions

I haven’t seen any so i suspect it is not something to lose sleep over

I do not think it will… but

as long as they have a single server up that can keep pop… ill be fine

If so… wouldn’t PServers with these expansions have been more populated? Blizz would have implemented them first…likely would have been easier as well. Your poor experienced do not equate to the general player base mentality.

Fun fact: PServers of Vanilla are more popular than Wrath PServers.

I’d play a Wrath server if they added one, but I’m not leaving my classic. Too much fun and a lot left for me to do.

I don’t think tBC, Wrath servers would kill anything but Retail more. Yes, players from both Vanilla and Retail will leave for tBC/Wrath, but that’s because that’s either their version of WoW they enjoy most or for curiosity.

All 3 (Vanilla, tBC, Wrath) are the “best time in WoW” for many people.

If anything, I bet you’ll see the same thing that happened to Retail, people leave for BC/Wrath - then either return or stay in the legacy servers - but it definitely not kill it. People have been playing Vanilla on pservers for 10+ years. There’s also BC pservers and likely Wrath servers out there, too. It’s good for everyone, imo.

Unless they force the expansions into Vanilla.
Also, no announcement of any legacy servers have been made, so we don’t even know if they will. Its probably going to take at least a year to see if Vanilla even sinks or swims.

No, nor is there any reason to think that Bliz would want to spend dev time setting up every possible variation of WoW, just so that one version can cannibalize players from another. I think some forum-goers have convinced themselves that TBC, etc., is inevitable just because forum-goers keep talking about it.

WotLK was the peak of subscribership for WoW. There isn’t a high demand for a legacy return a la Classic because for a lot of us, Wrath doesn’t feel like that long ago. The nostalgia feeling isn’t as strong. Give it a few years, let Classic marinate, then move on to BC. Eventually yes, if Blizz plays it right, legacy servers for the expansions that matter should all be able to run concurrently. Meaning Classic, BC, Wrath and of course retail. So far Classic has been a screaming success and I can’t see how it wouldn’t continue especially adding in the PvP improvements.

Why are we bringing up the Expansion content? phase 2 of classic has not even dropped yet, blizzard has not mentioned anything about doing the expansions right now. They probably will not for at least a year.

its like going to see a movie in theaters and complaining about the ending before you have even seen it…

If TBC and WotLK don’t do that to Classic then time itself will. But that’s fine because there will always be enough players for a healthy population. The only issue that may arise is the need for server mergers, but we can cross that river when we get to it.

No and here is why.

Vanilla +8 million subs
TBC +2 million subs
Wrath +2 million subs

I think 60 warcraft is enough. Up to 40 man naxx. That was released and removed abruptly after BC released

WOTLK was garbage

Anyone making post like this is a troll.

Why come to Classic forums and voice how much you want another game?

You people are getting irritating.

Just quit or go play your private server.

No one enjoying this game will miss you.

I don’t see an issue with there only being a handful of Classic servers for the no-lifers rozen in 2004. It’s what they wanted. They got their servers. Now there is a chance for the other no-lifers of 2006 to have their BC servers, and then later the no lifers of wotlk will have their servers. Everyone is happy on their preferred favorite expansion. Sounds like a win win to me. Nothing is killed, we just all have access to our favs. Blizzard makes money from recycled little effort content. Winning!

I would leave classic for BC, and would likely bounce between BC and Wotlk servers. Blizzard would likely allow Server Transfers of Progression so consumers can relive the whole story. IE Xfer from Classic > BC > Wotlk. So when someone finished Classic content and feels they are ready to move on, they can pay for a Xfer to BC, and live that Xpac until they’ve had their fill, and do the same to Wotlk.

I love how people claim Burning Crusade or Wrath would kill Classic. Classic doesn’t exist in a vaccum. You seem to think that I will be playing Classic forever if no other options are available.

News flash. Both myself and my friends have an end date for Classic, and when we get there, we will leave. If BC or Wrath comes out, we will come back, maybe. You can’t expect Classic to maintain it’s numbers indefinitely.

Old horror movies used to show previews for next installment before the movie even started. But i agree with you

True, but I did not want to further complicate it for a lot of these people in case they are younger and had not seen those. I love that you did though! (I am a huge horror movie fan myself)

Wont time just kill Classic… I mean there is only so much you can do there and only so long… I am sure there is a hard core base that will never quit… but that is a very small group… doing nothing will kill classic… BC will kill classic… LK will kill classic…’
The point is that everything ends… pretending that one specific thing you do not like will kill something when everything or nothing will kill it is a bit short sighted?
