Wotlk Raid Lockouts

So 10 and 25 man raids will now award badges of valor, but share the same weekly lockout meaning you can only run the 10 man or the 25 man version each week not both.

Obviously they did this so that 25 man raiding guilds wouldn’t feel like they have to run 10 mans to get more badges of valor.

I’m sure everyone can come up with tons of reasons why this is a bad change, but I would like to know if there’s anyone out there that actually thinks this is good and why.

My solution to this would be to simply allow each raid to only award badges once, but allow players the option of doing both versions each week.

Example: You do 10man naxx and get badges of valor, you then do 25man naxx but don’t get badges of valor.

I haven’t seen them come out and say they are making 10 and 25man share a lockout.

I’ve only seen the Beta where Naxx shared a lockout, but haven’t seen anything about the other dungeons. Doesn’t mean the shared lockout isn’t a bug.

The only thing I’ve seen them say is considering making ToC have heroic and normal mode share a lockout

Did you make this up for fun? None of that is stated anywhere.

I think that was a bug on the Beta. You do both a 10 man and 25 man in the same week. You can’t do a N and H in the same week

Was a bug. The solution was to fix the bug

People wouldn’t just go onto the internet and tell lies, come on now

Misinformed good sir. 10 and 25 raids do not share a lockout in wotlk. Blizz talked about making ToC 10+25 and ToGC 10+25 share a lockout since the way its originally designed, you basically run the same raid 4 times a week during that phase. But that’s it.

I doubt they even make that change, was just a thought they were considering.

10 and 25 do not share a lockout on beta anymore, it was fixed.

Honestly, my greatest concern is the fact that people will probably mostly ignore 10 man content in favor of 25 man content. I personally am going to be way too busy to join a consistent raid group for weekly 25 mana at set times and days, so I was hoping to just be able to pug my way through all the 10 man raids as an alternative. Im fearful that this will make 10 man runs basically obsolete and hard to find.

You will be able to do that.

10’s and 25’s in WotLK are very similar to, say, ZA and BT in TBC. Yes, BT gives better gear on average and more gear on average, but there’s the occasional piece from ZA that’s BIS, if not exceptionally good. In 10’s in WotLK, people are going to be running it for the catchup gear, the BIS gear or maybe even just the badges.

The way its likely to work is 25 for guilds, 10man for GDKP for alot of folks

Yea except in TBC, someone can run ZA AND BT. If people had to decide between one and the other? I suspect ZA would be a very unpopular raid.

I mean, you don’t have to decide between 10 and 25 man in wrath either.

In wotlk once you out gear 10 player version your guild just simply stops running it because heroism badges are ueless to you then .

They only shared lockout on the beta for less than 18 hours. I did both 25m and 10m on the last beta raid test on the same character. Hopefully blizz doesn’t feel the need to limit what raiders can or can’t do. Making it all 1 lockout will destroy any semblance of PUGs in the LFG/Trade channel and will in theory kill 10 man raiding

10 is going to drop valor.

Kinda make sense tho no? It takes a lot more effort to get 25 people together vs 10. 25 man raids should get better rewards.

If 10 drops Valor and 25 Drops Valor then they would have to just make the old Heroic badge vendor’s items cost like 50% less than the Valor vendor since we are using same currency for 2 levels of items?

It would be absolutely against the structure of Wrath raiding to limit one or the other because the currency is the same lol I doubt they’d limit the lockouts
