No they explicitly reset your progress so everyone is starting from basically the same spot.
And as has been pointed out it’s not just that, it’s the massive rule changes on top of that.
If Cata was just 5 more levels with the exact same gameplay as wrath it would be less of an issue. Well destroying the old world is still an issue…

No, they literally dont.
Massive? Most everything is the same.
It pretty much is.
No its not.

LoL imagine thinking that the gameplay expansion to expansion barely changes.

Depends on the expansion and the class. But no from Wrath to Cata the classes and specs are pretty much the same given a few additions.

Well except for the ones with major changes and all the other changes to gameplay, but yeah Cata is exactly the same as wrath!!
By that logic retail is exactly the same as vanilla.
Which ones with major changes? List the class/spec with the changes.
Problem with that is that Wrath still had gameplay issues, and Cata set about resolving some of those issues.
I know it’s fun for people to throw their hands in the air and scream “WRATH GOOD CATA BAD”, but Wrath had some absolutely hilariously bad things mixed into the bigger picture. It was a good thing then that they didn’t just leave gameplay alone when they went from Wrath → Cata back in the day, and it’ll be a good thing again for people to see how much actually changed for the better.
When you take things out of context knowing full well what we mean, you only make yourself look dishonest.
Exactly! they are different games with drastically different design. The small Cata forum warriors though won’t have that. They are mad that people aren’t going to play Cata and are trying to convince them their Wrath progress isn’t lost even though its been proven it is lost.
At some point reality will set in for them when they realize Cata wasn’t loved the first time and now that WoW players have options why would they play it and relive that again?
I can’t blame Blizz for a cash grab with Cata but Classic is Vanilla, TBC and Wrath. There should be Era versions of those games forever. Each one is loved for different reasons but that is the Golden age of WoW. Cata starts Retail ideology and ruins Wrath design so that’s a hard pass for most of the community. That’s just the way it is.
With that said you will never convince these Cata forum warriors even when you explain it too them, they deny it like flat earthers. Wrath players have Wrath private servers and SOD. Classic players have Era, HC. Retail players will likely check out SOD over Cata when not playing Retail. The fact is most people don’t care about Cata and hate it for very good reasons. Cata destroying Wrath again is just another reason.
Good luck everyone, like most I won’t see you in Cata. My progress and characters will die in Wrath where they belong. RIP Wrath.

That’s insane. Almost no one loves a video game. Those of us that have a rational feeling about the games we play will move on and the few that have fallen in love with wrath will discover how few and unimportant they are.

yeah I saw ads today ‘first 4 bosses of ICC checking logs’
like are you seriously needing to check logs in order for ppl to kill spikes and beasts? LoL

Wrath babies will always be an extra insufferable bunch.

And it failed rather spectacularly at doing so.

they really need to have a sanity check on these forums, why are you talking like an anime villain?
Would you care to elaborate on why you see it that way?

SoD is better than Wrath. Sorry not sorry.
I don’t blame SoD. Blizz flat out said WotLK out Cata is in, killed my mojo for WotLK.

Yeah Blizzard kind of killed Wrath with SoD release being so early. They should’ve just released Ruby sanctum a month after ICC and released SoD in early January. If wrath is dead now Cata is going to be even more dead after the first month.

Class balance wasn’t any better than wrath, it just shuffled the meta around some.
Hmm… most of the runes are just bring design ideas from later expansions into vanilla. Like sure mage healers or shaman tanks are nifty but those are outliers.
A lot of them are somewhat buggy in various ways and SoD is missing a lot of little QoL in just stupid ways.
