WoD had less than 6m players. And you have a logical hole - they stop reporting sub numbers in WoD because it was actually a bad expansion, after that they just kept with that - there is no indication that they sub numbers were that low in Legion, BfA and Shadowlands that they couldn’t share it. In fact, if they were that low you wouldn’t be playing wow today.
No, they report WoW specifically. You should try to read them.
blizzard wants WOTLK to die im almost sure of it. They are trying to move the players over to cata/ SoD. this is a company made to generate money not ensue fun
Wrath was caught between being a classic game and being the modern MMO…
Sure Cata pioneered most of the key concepts of modern WoW still used today. But Wrath was the actual beginning…
I feel like once player’s figured this out they started raid logging and searching for other games… Diablo 4, Baldur’s Gate3 and now SoD or Hardcore…
I’m not certain if anything will have the holding power that WoW once had on its audience. It still feels very much like many of us are bouncing from FOTM to FOTM…
The feeling of your first MMO can never be recaptured. Ever. Especially on an old game because all the information and strats are public. Back then they were hoarded and kept secret.
blizz doesn’t care they are making millions with the boosts, wow tokens, server transfers, mounts etc
What’s truly sad is the people who made the greatest expansions do not work there any more, and those who work there now are simply monetizing the works of greater men, milking it for every last nostalgia -laden buck
The vast majority of Activision/blizzards games are made by the current devs. You might not like those games but the vast amount of their profit comes from them. Classic is a nostalgia project that’s only worth doing because the work is mostly already done. It’s not a high profit endeavor.
Right the vast majority of Acti/Blizz profit and why MS is buying them is because of their micro transaction and pump out CoD version X, not because they make good games.
We can agree on that. The difference is I don’t think my opinion rules. “Good” and “fun” are subjective. I recognize that other people have different opinions. In fact more often than not what I like is rarely popular with the masses. There must be many people who like to play their games before they can make money on microtransactions. While not for me many people must think those games are good.
With all the other games out there to sink time into they chose activision games. They must think they’re the most acceptable. That just gets back to your they all suck argument. And I don’t buy that argument.
I haven’t played classic wrath since SoD came out which has been, frankly disappointing at best.
WotLK is ok, but RDF is full of awful people.
SoD has more bots than players.
I would have stayed in a TBC era, but never got the option.
The wife and I are just going to unsub
Congrats! Classic era is the epitome of de-evolution playing something so horrifically lacking in QoL. Your life just improved by quite a bit! Happy for you.
You guys should check out " the day before" , how it was advertised and what they put out. They still have “hundreds of players” after all the refunds and them having to change the name of the company…that is today’s customers. Lining up to be fleeced. Blizzard just has a larger build in customer base. Though “The Day, Before” was the most wished for game on steam…ever.
Does show a good survival game, has a large customer base, interest.
I’ve never “subbed” because I use time cards. But even these are becoming harder to find and have less value to them. But I’ll never give up on wow simply because I’m still explore other options that are available to me. I might leave wow for a short time, But end up returning because of the amount of changes made during that time away. So I wouldn’t give up, just unsub, and locate those time cards just in case something changes.
