We’re leaving that era of gaming on Classic, much less modern MMOs. Far fewer players care about the, “sanctity of socialization in MMOs” than you realize. Not even everyone cared back when it was the norm in MMOs, many played purely solo because that’s how they wanted to play.
Wrath introduced a few tools that let players do more in the game without sitting in a city spamming a channel and trying to sift through spam, while still having socialization for the bulk of the game at endgame. Sure, they could leave the city and do dailies, but then they’ll likely have to wait even longer because they won’t be actively staring at the LFG channel so they may miss someone LFM - if that’s even going to happen.
LFD takes an unknown amount of time hoping that you can get lucky amidst the spam, and gives you a general time estimate. Given how much easier Wrath heroics are also, there’s even less reason why exerting control over an entire party is necessary.
Good news - even with LFD, you can form your own groups. Giving players choices is far better than taking them away.
I look forward to coming back here in under a year and pointing to the patch notes stating LFD is being added back.
“No Dungeon Finder – Players rediscovering Wrath of the Lich King Classic won’t find the Looking for Dungeon feature originally added in Patch 3.3.5”
3.3.5 was 22 June 2010 while at 8 December 2009 World of Warcraft Client Patch 3.3.0: Fall of the Lich King The Dungeon Finder is now available, so i find it funny if current blizzard dev aren’t even aware of when did RDF was added, they don’t even know that people in wotlk spent exactly 1year enjoying the game with the dungeon finder, sub numbers increased by far in this 1year & i personally had a blast back then for using lfd with my friends and guild for 11months.
Dont know about you but after i got my 280% speed mount, i dont use flight paths in outlands on my main. I still use it on my alts, but i havent bought their fast flying. And even then i still sumtimes manually travel for the chance at finding mats or if something i want is on the way.
Pretty much all of the main devs that made the game great are long gone, and the remaining veteran devs were low on the totem pole and had no real control over decisions back when this content was being made.
Now they’re trying to exert the control they do have now and make the game, “their way” which is going to backfire tremendously because players want the game as it was.
As I’ve said many times before now, I am neutral about LFD. I will play Classic regardless, just like you will.
To discuss the issues with facts and logic. Not hypotheticals.
And you’ve decided to go about that by regurgitating the same arguments that have been dismantled hundreds of times now? You realize that could be one of the reasons your “fighting” isn’t working, right?
Right, and how does this help convince anyone that LFD should be brought back? I thought you were fighting for LFD?
No citation and even if it were true, Classic was never designed to appeal to everyone. It’s meant to appeal to a very specific demographic of MMORPG fans. If that’s not you, there are other games out there for you.
No one should be playing this game with the sole goal of making friends, at every opportunity, in every possible way. Especially considering the fact people have lives and play at different times. Making friends is good, but that shouldn’t be the primary goal of a video game.
Sure, recognizing people is neat. But on servers where you can actually play fairly well - sadly, mega servers for the most part - the bulk of players are faceless. Very few servers have the level of interaction that Grobbulus does, and even then I highly doubt the majority of players even recognize others in game.
It likes to repeat over and over that RDF isn’t in Classic. Duh…we know that. Or is it talking about Wrath Classic? Well, nothing from Wrath is in Classic because Wrath Classic doesn’t exist yet.
