I never did this and I played the hell out of Wrath. If queues got long, I did something else while waiting…much like I do now. I never had to queue with a healer or tank to make things faster, but hey, folks still do this now. The beauty of it was that I could actually DO my dailies while trying to get a dungeon run instead of sitting around trying to find a group. Not sure why people want that experience back.
The sense of community is shifted to server based discords where you can talk to people on the opposite faction, which has more a community feel rather than spamming “LF2m TANK AND HEALS DT HEROIC PST” for an hour to get some rat warrior who’s deep arms wearing a shield and a shadow priest not in shadowform whispering you.
I can not believe this. This is classic WOW! stop with these changes. This is a massive change! Its what made wrath so great. I’ve been playing since 05 and always wanted wotlk back and then they drop this change on us!!! sweet baby Jesus!! where is the data that shows who wanted this change?
Yeah, dungeon finder SHOULD be in Wrath. It was great doing dungeons for emblems! So what, now we just wont get emblems at all? How is that gonna work?
Reading the room? You see, that’s the problem; there’s no room to read. They’re not being booed on stage like during the Diablo Immortal announcement when, like they so often love to do, got smug with their own audience. Just like they did here with this announcement all laughing in unison on-cue and all this scripted stuff behind the safety of a camera.
They’re just as bad as we are now, with quasi-anonymity for all these virtual announcements. No E3 anymore. No BlizzCON. NO AUDIENCE. Just a camera, and a comfy office and our text-written complaints of their failure after failure after failure after failure? You can see how much quieter it is than audible booing, right?
Can you guys here see how much easier it is for them to just ignore all of this? This isn’t unique to blizz either. It’s the industry as a whole, and you wonder why we have a Cyberpunk, BF 2042, why Outriders launched broken and stayed that way, or why Square can’t get it through their heads after that failed Marvel game that doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result; there’s a word for that.
Getting back on point though; speaking of doing the same thing over and over again; here goes blizz yet again putting all their eggs in the raider basket. I’m not here for the purpose of hating on raiders, as I used to be one. As such, I understand that the game casuals play and the game raiders play are not the same game, with LFD, without LFD; it’s still a different game.
The problem is, and I’ll preach this until the end of the world because it’s TRUE, is without LFD, you’ve just cut off any possible route to the reward loop LK used to have in it. Ah hell; let’s remove blood shards, rifts, bounties from diablo 3 and just revert that back to what it was prior to Reaper while we’re at it. Cause “purists,” right?
And this social engagement BS I don’t even wanna hear it. That’s what guilds and discord is for. Sometimes you’ll get people talking in a dungeon but for the most part, there’s isn’t time for that, cause we’re hitting our keybinds. That’s as detailed as I can lay this out. If you guys cannot see the truth, that this is a ploy to sell ya that level 70 boost, then I don’t know what else to say to you all.
I’m pretty sure the type of audience that is attracted to going to Blizzcon is one that would cheer not having LFD.
They are the more dedicated ones, the ones more passionate about Blizzard games. They are the ones that hate the mobile crap like Diablo Immortal (that’s for the casual mobile market, not people who would attend Blizzcon).
These are the types of people Blizzard means when they used to say games made by gamers for gamers. Not 10 hour a month casual dad gamers, those came in by extension and only catered to because bean counters want their sub money.
No LFD is the exact reward loop for 3 of the 4 raid tiers and PvP seasons of Wrath. It technically gets the “half of Wrath” treatment because of the awful content drought of Wrath.
Saying this as someone that’s been to Blizzcon (easier because I live in Southern California).
And how do you figure the crowd would have responded if they basically within the same sentence (as they did on the stream) announced the 70 boost AND the no level requirement for the DK? You figure they would cheer that on as well?
Gearing was fun in 3.3.5, classes were balanced and felt good to play, dungeon finder rewarding badges and emblems felt great to gear an alt.
There is a reason why WoTLK was always considered the most popular expansion, in terms of subscriptions.
Again, LFR that was added in Cata was what significantly contributed to the social decline,
Dungeon Finder in WoTLK had a more social style then current retail WoW’s dungeon finder. There was no personal loot. People wanted to actually do achievements in the dungeons, and combine that with the classes felt great to play made it that much better.
Don’t blame Dungeon Finder for LFR’s mess in Cataclysm.
Now this is something that sounds like it comes from someone who actually played the xpac! Remember the madness of when the new 5 mans came out later in the expansion during ICC? The battered hilt? No personal loot there. I remember winning that thing on a 5-way need roll and it was a much-needed upgrade for my DK at the time.
We gotta face the facts though; the raid scene while not all bad, has always had some people in their community who have this gatekeeping mentality and I think that’s why they don’t want RDF in the game. As if that’s gonna have ANYTHING to do with their own guilds’ Naxx 25 or Ulduar runs. We’re not asking for LFR here.
It’s called a guild. If someone who wants to raid cannot make the guild’s said raid times, that’s on the player and they can set up a PUG. I have no problem with that.
You, however, seem to have a problem with anyone leveling an alt without paying up, be it boosting with gold or real money with the 70 boost, or anyone outside your guild gearing up through LFD.
So while you’re lying, I would ask you why you have a problem with others gearing up through dungeon finder but there’s little point, as you’d just be dishonest about that. Either this awful decision gets reverted before or shortly after launch, or you’re gonna find out REAL fast how quickly this is gonna kill off LK “classic.”
It’s not 2008 anymore. Your guild gonna use vent for raids? LMAO. I’m done wasting time with you. This is going nowhere. You’re not getting the point.
So doing dungeons with random cross realm people you’ll never see again ever is fine but doing raids with random cross realm people you’ll never see again ever is not?
This proves my point that you don’t get it. That you have no desire to get it.
LFR is more time-consuming, and people started wiping on purpose and wasting way more time on way more difficult fights but that’s a Cata discussion. As for WOTLK heroics, don’t come in here acting like they were as hard as Cata heroics. Or TBC heroics. Especially with how strong some classes were like ret paladin, DK’s, Locks, Prot Pally tanks, and so on.
Were there d-bags in 5 mans in LFD? Yeah, no one’s saying there weren’t. I’m of no illusion that there wouldn’t be if this were reinstated in Wrath Classic. Don’t come at me acting like people aren’t already that way in Classic as it is. You want “social interaction?” Take a look at this while you type up your future weak psychobabble as to why stripping features that were in an expansion is some sort of benefit to “social interaction” - and apologies if this doesn’t link correctly-
So this kind of social interaction in the vid; that’s okay? Is this the game you all want going forward?
I think RDF would really revive alt leveling through 1-60 and give a fun alternative to regular questing or mage/pally boosting that some people might find boring.
I liked it. It was nice to be able to run dungeons, AND quest. The only dungeon that ever gave anyone problems before ICC was the dragon one, because no one understood basic mechanics still. It’s not a problem in this day and age. And honestly, 2 months into ICC, everyone knew the approach, and there were very few fails.
