Hi, I am getting disconnected every 5 minutes or less and have been since the maintenance yesterday.

What I have tried:

  • Scan & Repair
  • UI Reset
  • Full Re-Install
  • Full Modem Reset (Including ONT)
  • DNS Flush
  • Release & Renew
  • Attempted playing on a VPN, results did not change
  • Google DNS
  • Disabling IPv6
  • Different Computer

Just an update, I tried on another computer and had the same results sadly. It’s only doing this on WoW Classic.

I’m seeing the same random frequent disconnects since the maintenance. I thought maybe it was addons but alas, even bare I get DC’d every so often.

Yeah, I am using the default now with literally nothing and it still happens, so then I tried a laptop my daughter uses for school, and I got disconnected within like 3 minutes of playing. Kind of at a loss at this point.

This has been happening to a number of people including myself since the restarts. I would recommend submitting a ticket directly to Blizzard via their support site.

I don’t know if it’s the same issue, but ever since WOTLK prepatch launched, I experience constant Ping spikes (1000+) and my internet goes down for a few seconds. In game, I can still see chats, but everything else freezes and I either need to restart the game fully or wait a while before the game goes back to normal. It can happen multiple times an hour. This never happened before prepatch. I already called my ISP and they have confirmed that my connection is good and stable.

Still awaiting a response on my ticket, but I met with a coworker who is a network engineer and we watched all of the packets being sent and received from Blizzard on WireShark.

I recorded a time where I was turning a quest in, and blizzard closed the connection on me, since the packets are encrypted I can’t really see why. To note, this is with 0 addons installed, and a fresh install.

Turning a quest in is the most common time I DC, but it is not the only time.

Still disconnecting, multiple ticket responses all so far are unsuccessful, not only that but the last response the CS rep clearly didn’t even read the ticket. They ask questions that were answered and outlined in the ticket very clearly, such as “Did you try on another connection?” that was one of my bullet points in the ticket.

Wanted to also update, this appears to be isolated to my Mage, I did the entire DK starting zone without DCing. Before anyone asks, I have done this with no addons and a full re install of the game. I do not disconnect if I use my phone’s hotspot. Blizzard says my connection looks perfect. So I guess I will just continue to DC until it stops? I made it from 45 to 70 on Maladath disconnecting after every quest turn in.

I do have an open work order in with another ISP but they don’t have timing on fulfilment, they said between 4 and 10 weeks.

I’ve also been getting disconnected every couple of minutes, but I’ve narrowed it down to only when I’m trying to craft something. It’s frustrating being disconnected every couple of minutes and I’m not entirely sure how to remedy this except for… stop crafting?

Yeah, I DC when crafting, turning in quests, it certainly sucks.

Anytime I try to load BG, run back to my body after becoming a zombie, and go to my mailbox it just disconnects me from the game. Pretty frustrating.

So it sounds like this basically has to be your modem or router, or connection to it.

If a hotspot fixes it then we know it’s your internet connection. If a VPN doesn’t fix it then it’s unlikely to be very far down the line.

Not sure if you’ve run a winmtr, but you could try running one and post it here, keep it going in the background and do something that disconnects you and post it here. Just make sure that it has ~10 minutes of total data, stop and restart it if it goes too long or let it run longer if it isn’t long enough. https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/27780

Yeah, I did all of that, tried new modems, routers, over 5 responses from blizzard, ended up just changing ISPs and problem solved. Blizzard seen 0 issue on both ends, and I didn’t feel like messing with it anymore, so I switched from cox to a local fiber company.

Fiber is awesome. At least in my area it is faster, cheaper, better than cable. Glad it is fixed anyway.

just happened to me for 45 min i could click skills on my bar and they would just light up around the border. i could see chat and could type but no one responded to my messages, tried to use zeppeling from ogrimar and it wouldnt zone. i didnt want to close game or log out since the que 8k 180 min. then i dced and was able to jump back on during the grace period and everything was fixed. i went to use the restroom and come back to start playing and im disconnected from the game again and now battlenet says im offline and i had to retype my username and pw just to be put in a que. WTF

This is happening to me as well every 5-10 mins,doing my head in and i have tried everything including deleting all addons,i have super faster fibre and a great PC.Only been happening since zombie patch started.Dont have any problems on retail.

I dont know if its the same issue, but my game simply closes. Not a crash report, not a DC alert, nothing. it happens quite often.

I am being disconnected from the game when I launch it. I will get my character screen able to try to log in and it will disconnect me. I was playing all last night and it worked. But I have been kicked off a few times today.

No its not. Why can I stream with no problem (even if I am not on wow period). Why can I watch youtube or go to websites with no problem or play other games not related to Blizzard. I am only experiencing this on wow only on the east coast. Live in MD. So there is an issue on Blizzard side classic pre patch.
