I didnāt come up with that one but Iām not saying who did, I aināt a narc.
I hope he steps on all the legos barefoot
I hope his next warm meal cools to that awkward not-quite-room-temperature before heās finished.
Neither version of those Discord links are working for me.
Same, they just load my existing Discord servers in a new tab.
So, out of all these MMOs weāre migrating to (ESO, GW2, Final fantasy), how are their RP scenes?
I asked earlier about the RP scene in SWTOR, thinking that a game with such an emphasis on story and worldbuilding would have a thriving RP scene, and I got mixed responses, mostly emphasizing that while there is some RP, it is almost all on Empire side (I wonder why?)
FFXIV: More often than not when I inspect someone because I like their armor, they have a note indicating they RP in their search info.
EDIT: Also went to a player-run bar and social club operated out of a large housing plot last night, was fun.
GW2 rp pretty much died when Megaservers were introduced a year into the game with guild based stuff being the only things that exist now
XIV has ingame features that support RP but its the community itself that makes XIVās rp thrive
Iāve got an archer, but my main is a pally thatās gonna pick up all the tanking jobs, sure I could have everything on him but heās not the kinda man to shoot things, heās the kinda man to get up in somethingās face and tell it to hit him.
Okay, I give up. Where do you unlock glamour in FF14? I thought somebody said it was from a quest in the desert area. Iāve been all over Ulādah and found nothing. Well, I found somebody named Count Butt-toucher posting in gen chat and two IC Miqoāte getting to second base in public, but nothing I was looking for.
This is also the case in ESO (which always had megaservers). There are guilds for RP but no open world stuff because of how the servers work. Old school monolithic servers present lots of technical issues but it really helps RP communities thrive when they can have their own server where everyone exists in the same world.
Even in WoW RP is sorta threatened by CRZ, phasing and sharding in certain zonesā¦ makes me wish theyāre just turn sharding on for the first couple weeks of an expansion and turn it off completely afterwards, because I suspect the lag and congestion wouldnāt be that great. We did just fine without it during the height of WoWās popularity in WotLK.
Itās from a quest in Vesper Bay, from this lady.
Itās in a town called Vesper bay in Western Thanalan(out the gate of sultana), and past Horizon. Someone asks you for orange juice(which you can buy from the mender ten feet away) and then theyāre like BAM you can do colors and glamours and what have you.
Also lol Hail bracktan.
Thatās unfortunate, I was considering getting into ESO.
Sig other was all sorts of upset about that one, too. Ythsiens was his favorite CM. Sucks that the most popular ones, the ones that actually do their jobs well, are the ones that get canned first. Itās BS.
Hah, found it.
So a core game feature is hidden behind a miscellaneous quest in a random tiny town in a distant desert zone. Thatās anā¦interesting design philosophy right there.
If it makes you feel better the tiny town is not random, you will go there a lot. Also. Condolences. You will go there a lot.
That little pothole? Really? Well okay.
Iām having fun in FF14 but Iām actually toying with jumping for ESO. I appreciate FF for letting me play for free for a while, but they really make you jump through hoops to actually buy the game. If Iām gonna be out $20 either way for the full version of a new game Iām more tempted by the one with no subscription fee. The big downside, of course, is ESO has no trial so I have zero idea what Iād be getting myself in for.
Gameplay wise, how does it compare to Skyrim? Thatās my only familiarity with the Elder Scrolls series.
I saw two people make it to second on an abandoned island with no mobs/quests/reason for me to be there. I felt kind of embarrassed, like they tried to keep out of my way but here I was intruding on them.
