Okay, that’s something. When do I meet these Scions? Gimme a benchmark here, I’m finding no motivation to keep slogging through boring quests in Anime Albion without any hint what it’s leading up to.
You’re in Gridania? Correct? I’m not as familiar with that starting experience. Anyone know about when the Scions show up for that?
Yep, that’s me. Forest Fantasy land.
e: I already met the lalafel professor and his punchy sidekick, if that’s what you’re referring to. They were amusing. Now I’m picking mushrooms.
Have you met any mysterious strangers with a binoculars-looking gizmo on their person? Lol
Starting isn’t all that great especially if you went to a server that isn’t trying to entice new players with the awesome road to 60 buff.
At level 15 cool things start to happen though. You start meeting new peoples, going to all the places, and the quest my little chocobo appears. Chocobo is pretty much the gamechanger. He fights with you, you ride him, you name him, he even carries some of your stuff.
At 15 you can also go to … I don’t know what it’s called… The Smith tutorial place? They let you do some really stupid ‘this is how the game works’ quests and give you free gear.
At 16 you can do dungeons and that is a nice way to level if you’re not into exploring like I am.
Okay, that’s fair enough. I can stick it out for one more level if 15 is where the cool stuff begins.
15 is when the MSQ has you leave Gridania. I believe the quest to meet the rest of the scions comes at 17.
I know it sounds stupid, I hate when people say “you gotta get to the good part” about stuff. But the slump is so little and short compared to all the awesome, engaging stuff that comes after.
Yeah, the way everybody here keeps raving about it I figured it had to get good, I was just looking for a hint when so I’d know what benchmark to aim for.
The first 15 levels are very much the “tutorial” before then they don’t even let you leave the zone you start in.
Basically this, yeah. The game just has a super long tutorial.
Also once you hit 15 be sure to talk to “The Smith” next to the innkeeper in New Gridania. He’ll have you run through literal tutorial scenarios and get you some nice quality lvl 15 gear.
I do have some fundamental issues with the controls, though. Mouse-turning is super jittery to the point that I can’t steer, and just running seems to be my only movement option. They put in these nifty enemy attack telegraphs and they’re useless because I can’t do anything about them with the tools available. I’ve gotten used to getting hit because it’s not feasible to get out of them before the attack goes off.
pretty much the first thing I did was go to keybinds and change A and D from turn left and right to strafe left and right.
Idk, I guess I got used to the controls, I can use them pretty easily now.
Q and E are already strafe buttons, though, just like in WoW. I don’t lack for strafing.
I don’t know what’s causing that, but I can tell you I’ve never had movement issues with the game in that regard, so I’d double check your options/sensitivity if you haven’t.
Haven’t really seen anything like that either. Movement felt exactly like wow to me.
My mouse settings are good for everything else I play… I’ll look into changing the sensitivity in game, that might help if it’s an option.
I tried Googling to see what other options you might have to settle the issue but they’re mostly reddit links, which I can’t access at work.
