What’s so impressive to me about Lalafells is yes, they can be used as a punchline here and there, but are also used for completely serious plotlines as both heroes and villains with no hit of irony or jokes based around their appearance.
Oh absolutely it’s amazing that they’ve found such a perfect balance
Finally got onto Mateus as a Sea Wolf Roegadyn named Thorsygg Seagard. Looked into the lore a bit, and saw your class determines where you start. Reaaaaaaally like that pirate city’s look so at what level can I get there as I started as an archer?
Also, it said something about eventually joining one of the cities military. Def gonna go for the pirates if that’s an option.
figures that i finally get to play Kul Tiran and its in FF14
at level 15 there is a Main Scenario Quest (MSQ as its normally referred to) that will take you to each of the main cities in ARR where you can unlock all the jobs
and while the Maelstrom is amazing I will always be a Raubahn fanboy so Immortal flames for life
While I love both Asura and Lalas the love they are given frustrates me as a long time Gnome obsessed person the fact that blizzard still doesnt give them the love they deserve makes me a tad bitter
I really dislike being right.
Yeah I can definitely see that. That it’s taken this long for them to admit Gelbin is a bad!^@ is pretty bad.
What I love about Asura is that it’s like someone said “what if we made a race that’s essentially the snootiest college intellectuals you could think of all trying to stab each other in the back over inventions?” Then someone else said “that’s great, what about a rival college that’s literally trying to kill people?”
FFXIV is incredibly charming, but that GCD is brutal.
@ESO shills: What’s your opinion on this crafting bag thing?
Gelbin became the best leader in the game the second the short story Cut Short published back in Cata and I will defend that hill with my life.
I will fully admit it takes some time getting used to but once you get past ARR and the classes truly open up you end up doing so much with the oGCDs that the 2.5 gcd isnt as noticeable
Crafting bag is well worth the price of a sub (to say nothing else of the other sub perks like access to the DLC for free) otherwise your bags are gonna fill up real quick.
One of the drawbacks of a game built with console/controller in mind that makes the transition from WoW a little clunky, but I should point out at level cap you don’t notice it as much due to a good deal of oGCD abilities. Also, it makes the game play absolutely wonderfully with a controller if you are so inclined.
Meanwhile I think I’ve settled on a bit about L’bali. She’s a native of Gridania, her clan wiped out by poachers.
She’s a natural with a bow but also absolutely obsessed with machinery. Shes very bubbly and energetic (almost to the point of annoyance).
That’s all I’ve got for now but it’s been fun reading up on Miqo’te.
I imagine it will be a long time before any of you newbies to XIV get to it but when you are able to unlock Dark Knight I high recommend doing that story line legit one of the best Job stories in the game.
Yes, absolutely. Dark Knight takes the cake.
I also recommend Samurai, especially the 50-60 storyline. Red Mage is interesting as well.
Mateus and Balmung are basically Moon Guard and WrA. They are both big servers formed for slightly different reasons and you probably won’t go wrong either way. Balmung is bigger and has a few more events if you want something new and can get on. Mateus has a lot of the WrA refugees if you can’t get on Balmung or want to play with the people you know from here.
Make sure to utilize https://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/ for events.
The playstyle does start kind of slow because of the GCD, however most classes are completely different at max level. Off-GCDs are hugely important, and you probably won’t miss much between FFXIV and WoW. They are about the same at end-game.
As a RDM, I am always pressing something. DPS should always be pressing something. Always cast. Never stop casting.
The trickiest part for many people will be getting used to FFXIV’s new “lead” time. That is, there’s about a third of a second delay between what you see and what their servers register. So, you can start casting your next spell slightly before your current one finishes. However, that also means you need to pay attention to boss tells, too, as the important part is when the big glowy parts disappear, NOT when an animation finishes.
I’m focusing Ninja these days and it is a blast, especially now that my ping can keep up with the Mudra rotation and prevent me from Mysidian Rabbiting myself.
Wait are they really doing cross realm? Is that coming in the next expansion? Cause hell if thats the case I’ll transfer off Balmung to hang with my WRA peeps. I just dont wana give up the Balmung friends I made along the way so thats actually good news for me.
It’s coming before the expansion, probably in late March or April, if I remember right.
tfw you have a sad thought like…
I hope our forum moderator who has to read our garbage didn’t get canned.
All right, I fired up the ol’ FF again and found my abandoned little archer on Mateus, and an hour later I fully remember why I stopped playing. At what point does this game become fun? Because at level 14 it’s a perfect storm of tedious combat, awkward controls, confusing interface, dull visuals and a bog standard fantasy junk story.
The story gets really cool (imo) when you meet the Scions. You get recruited into a super secret Hero Club and the characters are all really fun. I also really enjoy dungeons in that game.
