Worth getting into?

Hey all, no negativity please, I missed out on most of WoW classic all the way through now & while I wanna get into it I’m worried that after mop (I loved MoP!) they’ll go into WoD while I didn’t explicitly hate WoD definitely I feel it definitely steered away from the classic WoW vibes into more modern wow we see today & I just wonder if it’s worth getting into it from your alls perspective?

Well from a recent survey that just went out, blizzard was asking people if they would prefer to stop at pandaria or move onto WOD, this tells me the future is not really set in stone.

I will say this, Pandaria hasn’t launched yet, heck the prepatch doesn’t even launch until July 1st. Why then does the future stop you from enjoying the present? You may as well level through MOP, and if it moves on and so do you, you will at least have those memories and experiences.

Don’t know if it matters at all, but they’ve removed LFR and all signs point to it not coming back.

Well you paid for it under the 15 so you could give it a go.
Only you can san say if its fun to do in the end.

I like it here. TBH of late wow time when I get it can be in beta.

Future of this…time you spend if enjoyed is time not wasted to borrow another poster’s words.

that and if it goes to wod…I am happy. If my chars convert to retail if pulled…I got room on MG/WRA for them. Happy there too.

Wod is still part of the wotlk era imo moreover classes got pruned which made them a bit more simple vs mop. The big change to the modern era was Legion with titanforging, artifact power and M+.

It mostly was pretty bad back then because of the terrible patch schedule and the lack of world content/casual content vs mop, a lot was invested in the garrison but it didn’t deliver as much. The raid and dungeon content is still pretty good. I personally already played it so I don’t know if I will play it again.

One of the big change of wod which you could argue made it less classic was the change to professions which made it so you didnt need to do old content while you could argue that people were anyway just buying mats to level them up. I still think that was a bad change imo.

I still think even if it’s only for mop it’s worth getting into, mop is a really good expansion if you didn’t play it.

WoD was one of my favorite expansions. We had Glad stance, Ashran, the zones were fun just need them to release the content they never did. I can’t wait to play WoD again and farm ashran for BiS items and own it up with Glad stance. Nothing better than Sword and Board DPS.

It was also the only time I did Raid progression because of Glad stance and could be Dps with a shield.

Abomb go troll sod again. We know you hate everything past Wrath.

This is factually not true.

I’ve always stated WoD was one of the best if not thee best PvP expansion. Ashran was goated and you could get BiS gear in Ashran that the vendors didn’t have as an extra incentive to PvP all day.

Glad stance was the best Dps spec to ever grace the game and it was only in WoD. It was the pinnacle of Dps and perfect blend of tank you would expect from Sword and Board.

Ontop of that I’ve always stated that BFA 8.3 corruption was the most fun retail has ever seen. Sure attaining gear and how they designed vendors was atrocious but corruption itself was the most fun I’ve had since WoD. It was amazing!!! It was fun!

The heart of Azeroth in BFA 8.3 was also the best designed system ever added to the game and allowed for seemless customization of your specs. I also enjoyed grinding azerite and Island Expeditions should of been a main aspect of WoW that sadly they never iterated on.

BFA 8.3 was the most fun I’ve ever had Raiding since we could essence stack SotW and TD corruption and run heroic 30 tank raids. Talk about a great time. BFA 8.3 was a free for all of fun once you were geared. I’d happily play 8.3 BFA or WoD right now over Wrath or any period in WoW and have an amazing time.

Nothing competes with how good Glad stance was and also 8.3 BFA Prot Pal. Corruption was soo soo good.

For what it’s worth I am giving it a go again with a new character from scratch. I dropped off in TBC when the Dranei guild I was in fell apart.

This go around I am finding it fairly easy to make gold through gathering professions as people are leveling their crafting one’s to prepare for MOP. I do not see many people out in the wild but even in dps spec I am getting dungeon finder groups in the 3-10minute range except after 1 am CST.

I missed MOP and WOD last go around and am happy to get a chance to play through them now. It will be nice to have an established character entering Legion if we get that far which I hope we do. At first I missed classic, and now that we are far past that I am enjoying playing through “polished” expansions where I know that most bugs are mostly worked out, I know how my spec will be, usually in its best state and definitely more stable state than going through patch cycles of “look I’m meta” to “oh no we suck again !” While there are no surprises I find it easier to deal with certain upcoming plot points with the comfort of not having false hope but ready to enjoy the good there is.

What’s to worry about? If you want to play MoP, then play it. If you don’t want to play WoD, then don’t play it.

It really comes down to how much you enjoy(ed) or are interested in MoP content. You’ll get upwards of 2 years to do whatever you’d like, but you should certainly go into it knowing it may continue on into WoD. Sadly the only era server it seems they’ll do at the moment is vanilla.
