Worst iteration of your spec (or class)

Tell me which version of your spec/class was the worst. Any patch or expansion, I’m just curious what the worst one was for you

For me, the worst was probably Legion affliction when it had Soul Effigy. Summoning a crystal to throw dots on and arbitrarily pad damage just to keep the spec viable was awful.

Although I will say toward the end of legion affliction became one of the most fun specs I’ve ever played, next to shadow priest

Season 3 of DF for Devastation, just because of how our tier set was.

For my Affliction Warlock, it was probably the time when UA was a spender.

I may very well be in the minority with this, I’m really not sure. But glimmerdin was, in my opinion, completely boring and uninteresting and watching it get so out of hand sucked. I do feel bad for the people who liked it, as I know all too well how bad it feels to watch a playstyle you liked either get tossed out or be so much less efficient you pretty much feel obligated to use the one you dislike (been through this on different classes). But I gotta admit, god I’m glad Glimmer got removed.

TWW arms → worse

MOP arms → best

Probably vanilla warlock.

No threat reduction.
Constantly having to life tap just to cast spells.
All 3 specs basically spammed shadow bolt.
Having to farm soul shards that took up inventory space.
Being super reliant on +hit items that weren’t available until later on because we didn’t have talents to boost it like some classes.
Even less mobility.
Curses constantly being pushed off in raids by other dots/debuffs (looking at you deep wounds/warriors).

For ret paladin, besides the obvious vanilla, I would say BFA season 1. Lost all of the Legion artifact niceties without getting anything in return. Legion itself felt really bad at start, losing the perfection that was the WoD ret, but at least the articaft gave a lot of new toys to play with. BFA was very bad until the first patch where they reintroduced some of the of Legion powers as Azerite powers.

frost DKs going into legion with the loss of presences and other stuff it was a real kick in the nuts also forced to dual wield

also not getting frostmourne but ret gets Ashbringer and a updated Corrupted skin such bs

To be fair, Ashbringer isn’t anywhere near as powerful as Frostmourne, which is why they’re allowed to have it

I personally feel like Druids were ruined. The moment they combined three specs into four specs and did away with the bear cat option. it was far more fun to be DPS with a tank in my pocket or tank with DPS in my pocket for very specific in rage, timers and soaks. Despite them screwing up my favorite class. I still play it 15 years later.

Legion version of most of the classes I played. The stripping down for “class flavor” and losing core things to the classes really turned me off the game for a while.

That and outlaw rogue was flat out trash

WoD, Demo, no mechanical reason. Just a 20% nerf and a, “We’d rather you not play Demo.”
Put me off playing the game at all for the fattest of minutes.

When Balance Druid had that stupid ping pong bar.

Any time a class has some kind of mandatory buff they have to start up that takes away from doing damage. Like paladins with inquisition and druids with savage roar. Just stupid, tedious design.

That would be now.

I don’t care who knows it or thinks I am wrong: I loathe melee holy pally. Absolutely loathe it. Denounce spam shockadin was delightful. :pouting_cat:

Fistweavers were the ones who enjoyed melee (which is kinda forced onto MW as a whole now but I actually enjoy that one). Catweaving is also not my style and if I do it, its out of spite, not boredom…

where is it stated that ashbringer isnt as powerful as frostmourne? didnt it literally shatter frostmourne? wouldnt that make it more powerful, not weaker?

It’s not so much the brute power, more the potential to unbalance the world.

While Ashbringer is probably more powerful in terms of brute strength, Frostmourne has the potential to destroy entire worlds with its power of corruption and domination, while also simultaneously corrupting the wielder to continue down that dark path.

In a 1v1 yeah Ashbringer wins, but in terms of which weapon is safer to give to a random “hero” who might have questionable motivations, it’s Ashbringer. Frostmourne has too much potential to influence the wielder to destroy everything.

I would play hpal if it wasnt melee

Vanilla Prot Paladin

No taunt. Needs magic damage gear to hold aggro. Weak single target threat. Boring gameplay.

Leveling as a paladin in vanilla with melee swings was awful
