Worried FFXIV will kill WoW

I’m sorry the ppl who’s mental well being I question buried this.

I’m wish I didn’t love Azeroth and my chad bear skins or I’d be gone.

I think that’s because the playerbase complained that they had nothing to do. But who knows.

I would play FF14 if the combat was better and it didn’t revolve around a seemingly endless story mode. I know you play FF14 for the story but I just want to fight things and wow gives me that, FF14 gives me a thousand + hours of take this item to this person then come back to me then go back to the other person again.

I enjoy FF, but it wont kill wow the devs and the player base might.

Blizz has the money to do amazing things…let us hope that we never see nipple bot 3000 again.

it would be pretty great if the FFXIV fans would take their FFXIV crap to the FFXIV forums. In case you can’t tell - and it’s clear some can’t - these are the wow forums.

FFXIV isn’t going to kill wow. the game isn’t all that great.

We gotta go with what we know. Pretty sure Square reports player figures while Blizz stopped a while ago. One has nothing to hide, the other has something to hide.

What I do know if I was confidently outselling my competition, I’d want my shareholders to know that. That’s really good for my company. Generates a lot of interest from shareholders and prospective shareholders when they see me outperforming my competitors. The only reason I would stay quiet is if I wasn’t outperforming my competitors.

But ya, Blizz doesn’t come out and say they have more players just because they are the humble sort.

Yeah you couldn’t put sprinkles on a turd and feed it to me. Bare in mind I have no infatuation with WoW either, but I don’t see FF14 as a competitor, it just offers something entirely different in some ways, but has the same issues.

I doubt it has anything to do with humility tbh with you. When people look at a graph and you see nothing but population decline, its not a good image, and many streamers were reporting based upon that data. Its not too surprising the apocalyptic types still exist and fear “WoW is going to die.” Its been dead next to the gaming industry drought. What changed? Blizzard/activision is owned by Microsoft, Zenimax is owned by Microsoft, etc. There isn’t a whole lot of diversity out there.

You are not wrong, no matter what the Knights are saying.

The absence of content is not a metric to go off of. People will play WoW for as long as they can afford to, and love the game. Seasonal players come and go regularly, its like watching people celebrate/fear the stock market going up and down. Its whatever.

“I demand that my game have less content!” - general discussion

As much as I hate quoting South Park…
" You cannot kill what has no life" or something like that.

If Ff was going to kill WoW it would have been awhile ago.

If anything kills it , it will be whoever pulls the final plug and says enough.

They don’t. But if you are able to actually find the numbers directly from Square, let us know.

Square hasn’t told their shareholders that they are outselling their competition either.

So I guess they are both failing to outperform their competitors. Weird theory.

IF DF fails, I doubt Blizzard will ever go back to the golden age.

They are putting a lot of faith in the crafting revamp, Since they nerfing world quest and other world content.

Will it be enough? Who knows, but i know many people who say if Dragon Flight fails to give me a reason to want to log on, and does not respect my time. Blizzard will not get another chance.

Watch DF fails, and the next expansion will have player housing. rolls eyes

While ff14 has more users, it wont kill WoW.

WoW is catered to hardcore gamers, while ff14 is for those who just want to raid casually.

I fail to see how the executives at Square/Enix can decide the fate of an Activision/Blizzard game, especially when Activision/Blizzard is about to get bought by Microsoft. If anyone is going to pull the plug, it won’t be Square/Enix.

Now, FF14 is definitely competition for people’s time, I’ll give you that. But Wow, and FF14, are both going to be running strong into the near future. The MMO that makes me sad right now is ESO, but that’s a different thread for a different forum.

Cheers. :beers:

Even if DF is a success, WoW will never go back to its golden age. The game is ancient compared to Wraith and the overall gaming market is different.

In my opinion, it is highly unlikely that WoW or any other MMO will ever reach the same level of success that Wow had in Wraith again.

And likely lose a lot of players when the requirement for playing skyrockets and people don’t have hundreds or thousands for a new PC or video card.
