I’m sure it’s got it’s advantages, but same here wow is the only mmo that makes me want to jump back into the world.
I guess I don’t mind people liking FF14 more, I just don’t think it’s as lit and hype as they make it seem. It seems more niche and a more laid back mmo experience.
I agree FFXIV is fun but one you reach max level and gear up via the raid, there isn’t anything that exciting to do. Golden Saucer is only entertaining for so long.
That’s interesting. I jumped into wow as soon as I could during BC. I loved it from the start. I didn’t have to ask myself if I’d like this more than anything else. Just was drawn in heavily.
I played other MMOs at the time and everyone said the game was good, but the community was toxic. And I thought it must be overrated because of how much praise it was getting compared to the other MMOs I played. It was not, in fact, overrated at all. But the community was kinda toxic. I definitely regret not trying it sooner.
And the FFXIV dev team was smart enough to appeal to a casual audience and saying it’s OK to take breaks from their game because it’s not stuffed full of dumb FOMO mechanics and daily / weekly chores that resent you for not completing them. The part that’s hilarious is that WoW has seemingly copied that element of XIV, having dropped all reciprocating system nonsense.
I would not be surprised if that’s because devs of both games play both WoW and FFXIV, honestly. I’m pretty sure they have even visited each other or sent a card or something if I remember correctly?
This dude is just an attention seeking troll. If you ignore him then he will go away. He never adds anything to any conversation that I can see other than being inflammatory.
not to mention Yoshi-P plans for lulls in content and doesn’t make up with it using obnoxious grinds. He has a “Take a break, Go play other games, come back when we’ve released more content.” sort of philosophy. Lets players hit the new content refreshed and ready to go.
Yoshi-P is honestly the GOAT of game devs, It’s why FFXIV has been on an upward trend for nearly a decade. That and because FFXIV set the bar low enough before ARR, that ARR had no where to go but up, but mostly Yoshi-P kicking butt. Otherwise it’s growth would’ve plateaued ages ago.
If that’s the way you feel, then FF14 is working on the long game. It took them 8 years to even reach a debatably equal player base size and they haven’t really made any progress since then.
WoW will probably die of old age at this point before FF14 gets the chance to finish it off.
