I’ve played World of Warcraft for about 20 year now, I’ve spent a lot of money on it and I have to say the game means a lot to me and my friends. ICC is soon which means that cataclysm classic is likely around the corner. And well, I’m really bummed out that the wrath classic era is coming to an end. The removal of talent trees, the addition of LFR and the de-socialization of the game made me very sad back then, and I am worried about the future of classic today. Thank you for your time.
Have to take what you can get and enjoy wrath while it’s here.
I seriously doubt it, especially if it always has a sub.
Think talent trees are still a thing til MOP
cata did not remove talent trees, they were compressed a bit but they still existed. MOP was when they were removed.
LFR is fine as long as they force it to share a lockout with normal. Don’t wanna be “forced” into running it to get proc effects/set bonuses.
“Desocialization of the game” has already happened. Nothing major will change from wotlk–cata in that regard.
the one time i agree with him bc idk if we will get an era kinda why i just came back to try and play 2wks before i knew about jj lol.
So back to private servers is what you are saying? Blizz can just give us WotLK forever. It’s the most popular expansion and pinnacle of WoW. People want to keep playing it.
I do believe most WoW players been waiting for Wrath Classic. There is no need for it to ever end.
Don’t know about most. There are some WOTLK die hard fans though, and there probably should be a permanent Wrath Era server for them.
I don’t get these people.
Are you really, with the straight face, saying that comms now are AMAZING and Cataclysm alone changes that?
lmao what?
This is how I know, for a fact, you’re full of
I’ve been playing retail & WOW overall for over a decade myself. And what you’re saying is absolute garbage.
Cataclysm and LFR, nor RDF, had nothing to do lack of comms.
You know who is to blame? The players. Not the game.
So get off your high horse.
And retail M+ has more comms in than Wrath ever will. or TBC. Or vanilla.
Era servers are still there for you. Go play that. Make sure to pick right race/class combo or you will be getting kicked due to poor logs.
Only classic I care about now is hardcore
And it happened even though the devs refused to add RDF. It wasn’t any specific game feature addition that caused this. It was popularization of social media imo…Times have just changed.
This is laughable. Retail is garbage and this is why Blizzard had to bring back classic servers. Classic servers are booming right now. Even the most popular streamers are not playing retail but most of them are playing classic servers and hardcore.
Even on Private serves the most popular era is WOTLK.
When cata hit, the player base started dropping in subs this is why Blizz hides the actual retail sub total because retail is a joke.
Shhhhh you’ll give the purists an aneurysm, they can’t fathom the idea that RDF doesn’t kill communities, communities kill communities-
Yeah, I put all the global chats into their own window so I don’t have to see the spam. Finding groups the old way takes too much time, and there are too many people who worry about “optimal” runs. With all that in mind, it’s hard to imagine why the in-game socialization collapsed.
Shhhhh you’ll give the purists an aneurysm, they can’t fathom the idea that RDF doesn’t kill communities, communities kill communities-
I don’t think you know what a purist is. A purist wants RDF in Wrath and beyond. That’s authentic. This Mythic dungeon crap, however, is not.
Getting RDF in ICC phase is about as pure as it comes…
That continues to be a completely nonsensical argument. Literally every other system in Classic came early. Why has Blizz always used last patch systems? Because, according to them, it’s the most complete version of that expansion. Just imagine a new server is released near the end of any expansion. That is what we’re playing. Except they gate content (dungeons, raids). But the last systems are all in place.
Considering how they’ve run Classic, RDF should have been in much earlier. It seems pretty obvious they couldn’t be bothered to remove a couple dungeons from the list and came up with a ridiculous ‘my social connections’ excuse. Which is complete nonsense. The community devoured itself just fine without RDF. And its exclusion, alongside Mythics being shoved in, made the dungeon experience far more toxic and negative.
Talent trees are still in cata and lfr isn’t coming till dragon soul anyway
Meh, the talent trees were trash in Cata. They were gutted. There are virtually no choices, and once you spend points in one, you’re locked into it and couldn’t spend points in another until you max out the first. I remember hating that back then. I’ve never been a fan of reducing choice and freedom.
This was Blizzard really going down the path of controlling how players play the game, and not letting them ‘make the wrong choices’. I recall a Blue post using those words. This design philosophy goes hand in hand with turning WoW from a simple game about fun, into a job that people take WAY too seriously.
It falls into game design principles… Some of the folks at Blizzard (even ones not there anymore) didn’t want it originally. They caved and decided to let it come out the same time it came out when this game was current? So it’s not a system they wanted to use more or less… Until they did.
RDF was added as a necessity because the same things that are happening now, we’re happening then.
It would have made far more sense to add RDF at launch and I believe they had planned on that (in OG wrath) but ran out of time and added it later.
There’s a reason retail still uses this feature to this day. It’s one of the few systems that never gets removed because it’s absolutely necessary these days if you want to retain casual players.
