Was playing Classic Era (Whitemane), was in a battleground (Arathi Basin), which ended. As I was exiting the battleground, the loading screen bar stalled for some time. Eventually, I was kicked to the character select screen with the error “world server down”. I tried to load back in on the same character, and then onto my other three - each time met with the same issue. Was unusual because I know for a fact that the world server (Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms) was not in fact down (there were/are players currently online).
I closed my Battle.net client. Restarted my PC, re-opened the Battle.net client, launched the Classic client, couldn’t get beyond sitting at “logging in to game server” for about 20-30 seconds before receiving a “you have been disconnected” error.
I then attempted to launch the Classic client through a different account (there are no characters on Whitemane on this account). I was able to successfully load in, select a realm (other than Whitemane), create a character, and log in. After doing this, I logged out, attempted to change to to Whitemane at the realm select - and got the same issue (disconnected).
I am now experiencing the same issue on both accounts - something about attempting to load into Whitemane specifically is causing me to disconnect at “logging in to game server”. I am able to play the characters I have on the Cataclysm classic client (either account) without any issue. I used the “scan and repair” feature for the Classic client through Battle.net - made no difference. I even attempted to launch the Classic client through my laptop - same issue.
What are my options here?
