The level squish is all but confirmed already and I don’t think it’s going to be the same sort of band-aid that the multiple stat squishes have been. I think the level squish should’ve been the solution in the first place.
Like I get your point but I disagree at the same time. I think the current level cap is one of the fundamental reasons why more new players don’t get invested into the game because at first glance, leveling to 120 feels daunting and they feel way too far behind. It’s a psychological thing. Also what Verdre said is also correct. The lack of rewards while leveling makes the process feel disengaging in a lot of ways versus being engaging. The feeling of character progression is almost completely gone. Now we get a talent every 15 levels, no talent trees, etc. The entire process needs to feel engaging from start to finish.
Exactly. We don’t need a squish we need to rethink how we are approaching progress in the game. Don’t break the entire system every 2 or 3 years just to reset the numbers to a lower amount so people can read them easier on their screens. Look at how it feels with the current progression:
I just hit level 57 on my neck. I wasn’t excited at all. I was annoyed that I had to go back to Silithus again. 5 loading screens later I had a tiny stamina boost. Now its probably another 2 or 3 weeks of daily content on this one character just to unlock my 3rd essence slot, which is probably the last time I will get a new grind unlock that has an immediate and tangible benefit to my gameplay. The rest is just unlocking and upgrading essences, that vast majority of which are timegated or are currently just obscenely difficulty with the gear players currently have and the damage and healing they currently can do.
We need to stop relying on squishes OR we need to at least make sure they aren’t nearly as bad as the last 2 were. Those were just inexcusable and did not meet the standards Blizzard has set for itself over the years, even for WoW.
Yeah this leak although with the map and the new zones does look interesting. They mention most of the 4 chan leak with added things with shadowlands and dragon isles. Also player housing and guild controls and allied race customization. This all is just a a bunch of dreams since 2004.
If people believe any ounce of truth from these leaks, one might just be disappointed come Blizzcon three months from now.
Yeah, I’m not sure if I believe the footnotes about the expansion, the stuff that came from 4chan but the actual screenshot of the map design and the working title for the expansion seems pretty legit, honestly. It looks real.
I really hope not. I just hope it’s a little step above BfA. Just like how each expansion looked just a little better than the previous one. I don’t have the money to build a new computer.
Given FFXIV’s recent successes with it’s last 2 expansions and BfA’s disappointments AND the fact that Ion said in a Q and A they wanted to bring a lot more customization options to WoW to bring the game up to par with other RPGs out there (you have to assume he is directly referencing FFXIV, the only game that has managed to compete and grow for this many years directly against WoW).
Loosening up on the allied race requirements makes sense for all of them except nightborne, which are their own unique remodel based on the night elf model skeleton and the vulpera, which will be their own unique race with an intro questline just like the heritage armors for the race questlines.
Player housing was scrapped a long time ago but there are instances of devs talking about how they wanted it back then, and again, we are now dealing with FFXIV vs WoW in terms of subscription numbers and popularity and market share. I could easily see them doing this as a means to give players something to focus on and goals to work towards pimping out their own personal housing and Guild Halls that require concerted organized group effort to upgrade with group achievements and stuff. There’s a lot of potential there so I wouldn’t discredit player housing as a pipe-dream red flag for a leak.
The thing about player housing, that is the player housing people usually refer to which is in FF14, is very robust. An incredible amount of customization is available for it in FF14. In fact many of the professions in that game make their livelihood on crafting materials for player housing. Nothing in WoW’s system right now, especially in professions, allows for that. Their closest attempt at player housing was the garrison and it was extremely limited in customization after having to drop a number of popular ideas with it like having different kinds of architecture and being able to have it located in multiple areas.
So Housing alone would be a massive undertaking for the developers. But this “leak” also says they’re going to revamp old content, a la Cataclysm’s disastrous attempt, craft a new class(Tinker), AND add more dungeons than ever before?
Little bit disappointing if true, WoW cannot survive another generic new island expansion with just 1 new feature & previous features cut out, they need a big revamp with a lot of content.
It’s sometimes ‘‘fun’’ to just look at how much work some people put into the leaks. A lot of information simply being things we could kind of put together or that have already been told to us. Also having people put in the time and work to use examples in the leaks for it to make it more ‘‘not out of the realm of possibility’’ type ideas.
Overall the shadowlands one was fun to see and go through but while I feel some of these things CAN come true, it’s more likely than not fakes. I can’t believe Pyromancer isn’t aware you could do grainy photos with photoshop even… it’s not hard
I’m a skeptic. I really don’t think allied races will be rolled into the core races like that. I am also not sure if they would honestly merge the factions.
