World of Warcraft: Shadowlands? Sounds really good

Expansion speculation season is always a good time.

To be fair, I’m 110% on board with player living quarters within Guild Halls. It’s been my hopes and dreams for years.

The only thing that I didn’t believe at all was the allied races merging with regular races thing. I don’t see them doing that. Wouldn’t that also get rid of all their racials.

That’s the thing I don’t buy. It doesn’t make sense for Sylvanas who has long been self serving, to suddenly paint herself as a scapegoat.

Also, absorbing the power of nzoth just to banish it, when it could very likely kill her. Again, that doesn’t seem in line with everything we’ve seen of Sylvanas’ behavior.

Anduin would do that, knowing the risks. Sylvanas isn’t the type who’d take that risk. She’d “persuade” a hero to do that, but she wouldn’t do it personally.

The bit at the end about california, employees, female ethereals … that kind of makes it clear this is another elaborate hoax.

No Bard Class with a Guitar Hero-like interface?

I hope so. And then we can move on to just more customization for existing races.

I am totally on board with that notion. No one agrees on the ARs anyway… not that it should matter who gets pissed about what people get anyway.

I want a regular ponytail for this char… lol more stuff like that is welcome.

Sounds more believable then the last ones, me like.

I like the speculation stuff that comes out, it’s usually a good entertaining read. Blizzard is pretty good at keeping things under wraps, so I tend to only believe officially released information. Well ok… Officially released information is the only thing I believe.

And don’t forget “All old zones will be updated with some zones merged like Gilneas and Silverpine” and “Allied Races getting merged with Base Races”.

The latter is especially ridiculous, like how would that even work? The Allied Race and Base Race counterparts are nothing alike when it comes to racials, unless racials somehow become a customization option. There’s also the issue of voiced lines as well. Would voice types become a customization option as well?

I could see them changing the UI to have some Allied Races behind certain playable races or something, but not “merged” as in being able to use Lightforged Draenei options on normal Draenei or using Dark Iron beards on Ironforge Dwarves.

I also don’t see them getting rid of factions as well. At most they would do something akin to how Elder Scrolls Online does factions where factions simply determine who you fight for in PvP and other areas of the game that are faction-based. Factions are too hard-coded into the workings of many areas of the game for them to be fully removed.

This line doesn’t even make any sense to me. What exactly is a “cool nightmare-is”? Also, “human shape” and “Worgen shape”? That’s a very strange way to say “human form” and “Worgen form”.

I think it would also be kind of disappointing if the Worgen heritage armor is just a knightly plate set instead of Gilnean-style finery, like a suit similar to Genn Greymane’s with a top hat, and perhaps also a dress variant with an alternate hat appearance as well (which would be separate from the suit so that the suit can be used on female characters) similar to how the Blood Elf set has two variants of the chestpiece and Mag’har Orcs get three color variants.

You lost me there. They aren’t going to do that. Well you lost me at vulpera in general, but even more so on the quote.

They aren’t going to scrap all of those races and just make them customization options. What about the racials? The mounts? The work put into unlocking them?

Removing them would be spitting on all that work both by the players and the devs who designed them.

This gives me more of a “wish list” vibe than a plausible expansion vibe.

Also the game is built on a faction vs faction model. That is not to say merging alliance and horde isn’t an option, but if they do there should be a new “evil” faction or old god faction.

The no plans for necromancers in 9.0 is soul crushing if this leaks are true.

Makes sense for them to drop all the grind for allied races and just merge them as customization options, which they basically are except for vulpera and nightborne, which have their own patch/zone/storyline and you can get nightborne rep very quickly these days. Vulpera will probably just get an intro questline.

I’ve already stated over a year ago that I think Sylvanas will martyr herself to save Azeroth at the end of Battle for Azeroth. Looks like she will not be Lich Queen but she isn’t going away either she’s just going to be a shadowlands realm version of herself.

I wrote a post that Blood Elf zones will get updated in 8.3 and we will get high elves in 9.0 so this could still happen with these leaks and we will fight Sylvanas in the raid in the newly updated zones with her loyalists. The leaks explain that she then honors her bargain with Helya in the shadowlands waging war against the void, so that would line up with my original martyr theory.

Not so sure about the “Knight in human form/cool void warped transmog in the worgen form” thing in the heritage armor part of the leaks. The glyph for worgen druids does look kind of voidy and purple-ish though for that flight form.

Very skeptical about tinkerers as new class next expansion. Possibly because the goblin team is just so annoying in mythic islands. I guess I could see it happening but to have an expansion called Shadowlands and not have necromancers is just… come on the new necromancers in islands have some really cool looking spells and even though we have warlocks and dks, necromancers have zombies and skeletons and undead. Nothing demonic, not scourge/fel, just straight up necromancy like the various necromancer factions we’ve heard about from islands (again a lot of foreshadowing for whats to come in islands I was hoping).

But, we got high elves. That’s all that matters.

The Shadowlands thing Pyromancer had in his video seems believable, the rest of that stuff seems like made up garbage.

the picture was convincing but remember that people can have backgrounds in coumputer graphics and own a digital projector at home. turn off the lights, pull out your phone, take a picture at an angle, cut out a couple of rectangles and black fill them to make it look like you are hiding something to protect the leaker and bam, you just made some high-quality bait for 4chan that ends up on a youtubers video.

But it could definitely be a legit leak it does look high quality if it is bait.

You don’t have to make yourself the scapegoat when everything really is all your damn fault.

This is the biggest red flag I see after a quick skim looking for obvious signs of the leak being fake. I’m assuming the person who invented all of this was basing it on the models being different, in which case they forgot about Kul Tirans. On top of that, adding HE and VE customization options to BE while keeping Nightborne and Night Elves separate would be a slap in the face for Alliance players and just wouldn’t happen. If they add VE and HE stuff to Blood Elves then they would need to add HE and BE stuff to Void Elves as well.

I am almost positive this is fake, and I think it’s highly likely that the author is a Horde player as well.

I’ve gotten revered with nightfallen very quickly for balance quest recently. It’s not a painful grind at all especially if you have legion flying. Peopl will complain forever about any sort of rep grind requirement but nightborne are not that bad at all. They get tons of rare world quests every day and they buffed the rep up for them recently in BfA as well. Not having flying would suck but that’s a one time account-wide grind per expansion.

If this leak is true, I’m incredibly hyped for it. This is an expansion theme I can get behind a hell of a lot more than what we’ve got now in BFA with the generic faction war stuff, which I mean even though it’s the backbone of warcraft… it’s just a little tired by now. Though I do hope that by the time this expansion releases, the level squish is finished and we get it for the launch of the expansion.

I actually really look forward to going back to level 60, and it should make the game far more alt friendly. If you’re someone like me who has quit and come back to the game multiple times, having a ton of alts isn’t really feasible because if you only come back to the game temporarily, usually all my time is committed to my main, or maybe 2 characters max. If I had been playing for the last 5 years straight, I likely would’ve had a ton of alts at max level now. I can’t be bothered to play all classes to 120, especially if I don’t enjoy those classes to begin with. If the cap is 60, it’d be more tolerable. And I definitely want more alts for mount/mog hunting.

But yeah, back to the expansion theme leak – I like it. I’ve always had this idea in my head for a while now that this sort of doomsday theme, like an 'End of the World" themed expansion would be pretty awesome to experience in WoW. Like a really grim, dark and gritty expansion that’s much more serious in tone compared to all previous expansions. Whether we eventually save the world again at the end of the expansion isn’t really the point. The feeling of dread and that we’ve actually LOST for once, and that we’re no longer these invincible heroes, is what I actually think would be cool.

Every single squish they have done, particularly the last 2 squishes that they did back-to-back at the end of Legion, has had vast and long-lasting negative consequences on the game. I really hate to see so many people gushing over these concepts without actually realizing how broken the game was and how bad it felt after the last squishes.

We need to think of a better solution than just squishing every time the numbers get too big for peoples brains to read and they start complaining about those big awful numbers and the numbers are so bad we need a squish and then they do it and everything is broken, everyones getting one shot again, tons of useful and fun stuff is removed from the game entirely. It’s always the same cycle repeating and it’s the biggest issue I’ve had since Ion Hazzikostas took over. The squishes broke everything and the class design and balancing is a complete mess.

Stop the squishes already. Stop resetting everything every 3 or 4 months. Please it’s a major problem with this game.

The problem isn’t the number of levels. It’s the lack of rewards for gaining levels.

Even if they squished the levels from 120(bfa cap) to 60(bfa cap) there would still be levels where you effectively gained nothing.

80 - 120, save for Talents, is pretty much dead space for everyone.

That’s something they need to address. Yes, more levels makes it harder to make gaining the level compelling. I won’t deny that. But if gaining a level doesn’t feel rewarding, it doesn’t matter if the level cap is 50, 60, 150, or even 9000.
