World of Warcraft Reveal News Round-Up

Be sure you don’t let them watch Beauty and the Beast then. They might get some ideas.

Crafting tables: Have a bank ATM built in, so you can have your bank open at the same time you craft from it directly.
Crafting-specific gear? One more from FFXIV

Sorry, but I think this is gonna be a flop. A couple first thoughts…

  1. Look at all the megathreads for ARs on the forums. What does Blizz do? Develops a race / class virtually no one asked for. Once again, tons of development resources are going to be spent on “balancing” a hero class that is really just going to be the new Demon Huntard.

  2. Why does Blizz always talk about making the game such that players can “play the way they want” when there will always be a raid-or-die factor. Why re-invent the talent system when there will always be a formula listed on Icy Veins that people will be required to use and addons like Raider IO and Details that make it so players can, in fact, NOT play the way they want.

  3. WOTLK CLASSIC

  4. Meh.

There’s something else to worry about. Look at the site for Dragonflight. There are indications that there will be flight limits on flying mounts like exhaustion and how high up you can fly your flying mounts. Once again Blizzard caters to the minority.

ill start first off by saying what im excited for : the new talent system

in terms of the “hero” class its kind of upsetting that it can only be 2 specs. 1 ranged dps and 1 healer?

a druid has 4 specs and can turn into a bear tank, why cant this turn into a huge giant fire breathing dragon tank? or have a melee dps spec?? if balance is an issue than just make certain spells or abilities pve/pvp exclusive kind of like how you cant cast “lay on hands” in arena. give us more options

speaking of options how come theirs no revamps for all the classes? a revamp or a new spec for each class would have been better than a new class with only 2 specs. its been what? 6 years since classes had a major revamp?

anyone else tired of just spamming frost bolt and icelance and wishing you could do a glacial spike but its completely worthless because an ice lance hits harder?? my point is their is so much fantasy they can do with spells and added rotations, but nothing is being done, instead everyone is kind of forced to go a cookie cutter talent build while other talents are useless. hopefully this talent revamp fixes some of the issues!

Are we going to be messing with time? Caverns of time?

Wet blanket inc-
A convoluted new flight system sounds like a nightmare for alts.
For more variety in gameplay, I think new specs would go farther than new classes, something outside the box (lock healers granting leech, shammy tanks with defensive totems).
Praises-
We begged for a return to old talents, they listened, thank you.
A new class is still cool.

Generals, Order Hall Champions, Saviors of Azeroth, Maw Walkers. We’ve been called a number of things by the factions, but it doesn’t change the fact that by the end of the day: we are simply “Murder Hobos” that have no place to call our own. We’ve done so much for Azeroth and its’ people, aren’t we entitled to spending an expansions’ worth of time to celebrate ourselves by building a gotdang house and decorating it with trophies, memorabilia, etc.?

Love the new race, class, and theme of this expansion. I am actually excited to try this. I think you nailed this reveal.

I’m sure a lot of people love the new race/class. Many people don’t like the talent system and there will always be a meta so that isn’t a reason not to revamp it.

Overall, the expansion itself looks just “Ok” to me. Some aspects look like they will be fun and new, but overall I do see a lot of the same cookie cutter expansion features. That said, I’ll probably be purchasing the collector’s edition like I have since TBC. Just because I love WoW and always will.

That said, I have to address something I’m feeling with this expansion. To me, I’m getting a very “politically correct” vibe. I know there’s been some controversy lately with Blizzard as a company and their policies, which is fine, I’m all for equality. No problem with that. However, I feel like this initiative is bleeding into the game which I don’t like. And I’ve never felt this about a WoW expansion until now. Maybe I’m just old-school, but I feel like this is taking the front seat nowadays when designing games, movies, literature, you name it. It seems less about the actual story and “fun” aspect and more about picking the most PC character or actor and what message it’s sending. I fully agree that there are some things in our society that need to be improved and we DO need to embrace diversity. But I think maybe there are better ways to send that message.

I don’t know if this rant makes any sense, and I apologize if I offended anyone with this comment. I just feel like all the political correctness these days is getting a little out of hand.

Eh, to each their own. But find it useless when I’m not going to spend any time there. But that’s just my opinion.

Absolutely loved the theme!!! I’m tired of patriarchic macho stories (aka Draenor, BFA) and I was affraid it would be again. Glad to know the world is healing!!!HAHAHAHAHA!!! And hopefully flying will not be an issue this time!!! And yeah, please don’t mess up even more with professions. It has been already a few expansions that crafting is a drag!!!

They said they’re upgrading the “art”. Honestly I don’t even know what that means. Is it the loading art? Or quite literally graphic upgrades. All they did was show someone in one of those graphics programs retouching the flight path mounts and then moved on to something else.

No waiting until the expansion is almost over for flying please. Flying makes the game better. Wish in one hand…

Yes I’m very much so looking forward to the new talent trees. Freakin sexy af…

I hope it gives us more of the option to “play our way” and not be driven into having the one “perfect setup”.

Very 50 / 50 on this.

Some parts looks okay. But I still see a lot of concern. Not Pre-ordering this.

New Class looks pretty bad. Please tell me I am not going to see some dragon guy blocking my screen in M+ as he tries and flies and burns everything.

Zones concern me that it is a copy and paste from Shadowlands. Watch there be hardly any quests and content. Which was one of Shadowlands biggest faults. These big beautiful zones, with no lore, back story or quests for you to even care about being there.

Professions…yeah okay…sounds good on paper maybe…but that is a joke.

Talents … thanks for bringing back stuff from long ago?

I will have to wait to hold final judgement…but I was underwhelmed for sure.

The awesome:

  • zones are not monochromatic wastelands (it looks like Azeroth.)
  • zones are described as “big and open”
  • Not fighting a cosmic threat
  • Professions getting elevated
  • Split talent tree (good potential here)

The good (?)

  • dragon flying (if it is possible from ANY elevated location)

The Bad:

  • The drak’thyr model with the dehydrated head. Fix the model. Bigger head. Plenty of teeth. Intimidating. DEHYDRATED DRAGONS are BAD dragons.

Ion said AGAIN “we need to do better.” Well Blizz, NOW is the time to LISTEN. NOT three weeks before the xpac drops and NOT 6 months after the xpac drops and the subs are falling. It is early. Things can still be fixed.
