World of Warcraft Post-BlizzCon Q&A

I kinda hope there’s 52 variations of “playable ogres when”

To the WoW Community,

Over the past few weeks since we shared an update, the WoW team has been focused on the immediate future—both for our people and workplace, and what’s next for players too. As a part of that, the entire team came together to ask: What are the biggest things we’re hearing are getting in the way of your fun, and what are the most impactful changes we could make to WoW today to fix that?

Creating World of Warcraft is truly a collaborative effort between the people on our team, across Blizzard, and all of you—and as we build, iterate on, and talk about what’s next, we hope we can demonstrate our commitment to making Azeroth the best place it can be for everyone.

Just don’t ask questions we don’t want to answer. After all, you did ask for Dragon Tales dragons - right?

Pretty tone deaf and cowardly to avoid live QA. Yall really want tobremove transparency and be shady? Who thought this was a good idea?

The whole current dev team needs to be purged, in the same way they rid themselves of the “old guard”.

If you are incapable of even holding a live q and a because you know how terrible you are at your job, maybe you should just let someone else take your place.

It’s spineless and pathetic. It wreaks of people who can’t take an ounce of pressure or who lack a sufficient amount of wit to answer a question on the spot.

The only redeeming factor is apparently you know this which is why you can’t host a live q and a. You can’t hide from yourselves. The current dev team is a joke.

More than that, it is no longer necessary due to the use of Blizzcon since a red shirt people come to ask you many BUT MANY questions from Shadowlands and the lore and gameplay disaster of Retail.

It sounds like cowardice to me in that it does not have the responsibility to give good answers in the event of a leak expansion.

More like pre-screened softball questions.

Just about this stuff or can we ask general questions? Because I have like a million.

it’s to prevent moments like “does the curtain match the carpet” at the Felicia Day panel.

my question: will An’she play a role in the next expansion?

People out there asking the real questions.

Second to this kind:

Are there any plans to add a feature like Torghast that would allow players to do content endlessly to earn COSMETICS? Please no borrowed powers.

I don’t know if this message will be read, but wouldn’t it be more interesting to put a topic on the forum that will reference all our questions in one place? For your part, you’ll be able to have all the questions on the same topic, and all you’ll have to do is pick from our questions. This will ease your workload and give players a defined place to ask questions and like questions they consider important.

I don’t know if collective memory only extends to, say, 2018, but I’ve been to Blizzcon (2013), and at least back then they did not in fact pre-screen questions. I didn’t even decide what question I was going to ask until the guy before me went. I know one of the guys near me was annoyed because the question she was GOING to ask got asked by someone else, and she had to think of something else on the fly.

Obviously, recent Blizzcons may have adopted different policies, but at least there’s a pretense of being interested in the playerbase’s questions with that which does not extend with something that isn’t live. There’s even benefits to some live screening, such as ensuring multiple people don’t keep asking the same question.

It’s not really that big. The Elden Ring guy basically walked up from the audience as a prank to get a chance to dedicate the award to “my reformed Orthodox Rabbi, Bill Clinton”. The actual studio personnel were probably closer to more stangers, and hence in more “danger” while randomly sitting in the audience during the awards ceremony to begin with, and it’s probably likely there was some security checking for everyone to enter the doors. That’s basically how the guy got away with it - when the award was announced, they got up to receive it, and this guy was right next to them and stood up and walked on at the same time. None of them turned around going “Who are you?”, probably because they were understandably excited.

What exactly do people think that pre-screening would accomplish?

Person: I am going to ask this question.
Screener: That is acceptable. Please proceed.
Person: asks a different question

Just another core part of BlizzCon that’s missing this year. This is barely BlizzCon, no art/va panels.

And now no Q&A panel, if I paid to be there In person I’d be pretty upset. It’s not cheap along with the hotel and flight there and back.

Guess we now know why the livestream is free this year, their BlizzCon budget must be 10x less than usual.

Pre-screening probably won’t guarantee avoiding that, but it probably would be enough that it doesn’t happen. Unless you pull something epic like “out of season April Fool’s joke”, I can’t imagine many people would risk getting kicked out of the place just to troll someone after having paid for tickets, accom, airfare, etc.

The biggest real benefit is probably just ensuring there’s a wide range of questions asked, rather than the same question over and over again. As well as ensuring overall tone of questions can be polished (e.g. instead of “How are you devs so incompetent at balancing”, asking people to rephrase to something like “What’s the biggest challenge you have when balancing?”)

Just want to know two things:

  1. When will this expansion end? Soon please.

  2. When will true flight be enabled in the next expansion? My family will not be purchasing any future expansions until true flight is available. Putting it behind a pathfinder requirements means that I will never return to WoW. Done with having to reacquire flight every expansion.

Going say summer next year.

11.1 and yes they most likely do Pathfinder again.

Because everybody thinks they will be the next RSG.

My question:

When will we be getting cute cat girls like FFXIV?
