World of Warcraft Post-BlizzCon Q&A

… I mean, it’s possible, sure.

Depends on security’s level of competence… and there’s a difference in perspective in terms of some random person storming a stage, and someone ‘participating’ in a live audience event.

Last concert I saw, had 3x people stopping anyone getting up the side stage stairs, and 9 people almost shoulder to shoulder stopping the crowd surfers. It was effective enough… nobody got on stage that wasn’t directly invited.

I just addressed that. There is always a delay. Media has been delaying “live broadcast” for longer than we’ve been alive to cut out shenanigans. So if someone wants to “FREE HONG KONG” their question then you cut it out of the stream, take their badge, then escort them out of the building.

Again, you can’t create a perfect vacuum and this isn’t the reason they’re not taking questions.

I have a feeling you’re one of those people that believed Blizzard when they said they’re not reporting sub numbers anymore because there are better ways to show the health of the game

Probably that as well. The scripted Q&A never really answers much that people are actually talking about. It’s like “so ion, whats the plan with crests going forward?” Or some other ridiculous thing I don’t think anybody would actually ask.

I want fox druid where every druid form is a fox.

Cowards. How dare you rob us, and Chris Metzen of a chance to see Red Shirt Guy (Ian Bates) reunion? And how dare you rob us of another chance to embarrass your Diablo devs again.

WE ALL BOO YOU! BOOOOOOO

Question: Holiday mounts and pets tradeable when? It’s bad design having people delete duplicates of the mount and pets when they can go on the Auction House for other people that may have missed the drop for the holiday seasons.

I don’t understand why Arfus is not tradable or can be put on the AH like the other Hallows End pets.

More like why can’t we have player housing like the majority of MMO’s have?

Reading through the comments, it’s obvious that some of you have never worked in a corporate setting where the company was purchased by another. They have barely gotten the sale through. It takes about 4 months to get everyone onboard, with the discussions, new staff, etc. That’s an optimistic timeframe, some take up to a year depending on the complexity. The reason for the change in QA is because they don’t have really anything they can say with this sale thing going on. The one afterward will have not only the Blizz folks but also probably someone from Microsoft onboard to be able to answer the questions that are obviously going to happen about what changes are planned over and above the obvious “what’s going to be next”.

Everyone hits on the monetization. We don’t know if MS will continue to do that. It’s a different corporation from Activision, which that buy was when the monetization started. It’s not even on the radar yet, the main discussions outside of the creative teams is business and what is happening there. That’s going to include monetization, subscriptions, staffing, etc. That’ll hit the IT department, where the game is being housed currently and who is needed and who they can put in from the MS IT group.

I understand the waiting, being able to pick out the questions that pertain to what’s coming up and not have to worry about the trolls who are hating on the company and game because it’s not their ideas. I get it, you guys hate the game. I guarantee Blizz and MS know, they have staff that reads these posts. The QA is for those of us who are playing, going to be playing in the future.

And remember, they’ll have the reveal show for the next expansion so that’ll have information in it that can be generating questions for the QA that can have those who can talk about it available and answers.

So, I totally understand this move, MS and Blizz aren’t ready to answer that fast and they want to control the narrative to get the questions that are useful and not a bunch of trolling about “we don’t like it, we don’t play it, what do you want to do about that.”

Let’s see what is going to be said at the convention, what will happen, and then ask the questions to the guys that can answer and let them answer.

Why are you guys so great⸮

For real though, if you can’t even face your own long term paying customers, particularly ones who are still loyal enough to travel and shell out 300-800 for the tickets alone, that is of the upmost lack of confidence in your product and services.
Everyone knows from past experience in this situation it’s just going to be praise and advertisements wrapped in the form of a question that may not have even actually been asked here at all.

Because WoW is not a MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMO yet. It’s hasn’t reached that level of epicness yet to handle player housing.

While I understand why you’re doing this, this still sucks. I feel like there’s just no accountability for the developers; some Red Shirt Guy, or a new equivalent, to actually hold the devs to task, is some much needed catharsis, because trying to give you guys feedback is just exhausting. Much of the time it just feels like we’re shouting into the void, without so much as an echo.

These super sanitized corporate responses will not provide that. I honestly recommend just cancelling this Q&A, cause I’d bet real money that we will get NOTHING from it. Certainly no catharsis, but most importantly no real information that wasn’t already announced. What’s even the point of it?

Honestly it wouldn’t even be that big of a deal if you guys just posted on the forums occasionally. Like, hey, there’s a PTR going on! Maybe you could address concerns that people have, and actually participate in the conversation! Not to get too specific in this thread, but Arms is getting a rotational change in the next patch, and we have concerns about it, but you guys won’t even talk to us! Seriously, there’s not a single blue post in any of the Warrior feedback threads. If you can’t give us feedback in a PTR, which is explicitly created FOR feedback, how can we expect anything good in this Q&A?

I’ve been reading other replies to this thread and seen you typing for over an hour.

Warning you right now: if you have been typing out a novel, I ain’t reading it. Far too lazy.

No, not a novel. Just some back and forth on how to respond to you. The fact you’ve been watching my icon for the last hour is interesting though.

no houses for draenei.

I’ve seen that too, I thought maybe he was on a phone. Phones like to do auto corrects and you have to edit it and re-read it to see if you have to edit again.

It takes me awhile to type on my phone.

Well they haven’t had a real Blizzcon since 2019. Yes, 2020 and maybe 2021 was because of a pandemic, but that sure wasn’t why the 2022 one was canceled. The much more likely reason is they are trying to avoid questions about the systematic and long-lasting sexual harassment and assault that was perpetuated by Blizzard leadership; that is WAY more damaging than someone whining about phones or retcons or whatever.
