Reading through the comments, it’s obvious that some of you have never worked in a corporate setting where the company was purchased by another. They have barely gotten the sale through. It takes about 4 months to get everyone onboard, with the discussions, new staff, etc. That’s an optimistic timeframe, some take up to a year depending on the complexity. The reason for the change in QA is because they don’t have really anything they can say with this sale thing going on. The one afterward will have not only the Blizz folks but also probably someone from Microsoft onboard to be able to answer the questions that are obviously going to happen about what changes are planned over and above the obvious “what’s going to be next”.
Everyone hits on the monetization. We don’t know if MS will continue to do that. It’s a different corporation from Activision, which that buy was when the monetization started. It’s not even on the radar yet, the main discussions outside of the creative teams is business and what is happening there. That’s going to include monetization, subscriptions, staffing, etc. That’ll hit the IT department, where the game is being housed currently and who is needed and who they can put in from the MS IT group.
I understand the waiting, being able to pick out the questions that pertain to what’s coming up and not have to worry about the trolls who are hating on the company and game because it’s not their ideas. I get it, you guys hate the game. I guarantee Blizz and MS know, they have staff that reads these posts. The QA is for those of us who are playing, going to be playing in the future.
And remember, they’ll have the reveal show for the next expansion so that’ll have information in it that can be generating questions for the QA that can have those who can talk about it available and answers.
So, I totally understand this move, MS and Blizz aren’t ready to answer that fast and they want to control the narrative to get the questions that are useful and not a bunch of trolling about “we don’t like it, we don’t play it, what do you want to do about that.”
Let’s see what is going to be said at the convention, what will happen, and then ask the questions to the guys that can answer and let them answer.
