World of Warcraft on Console

Not necessarily, the game could pretty easily integrate them into the PC population, but I’m certain that many mythic raid guilds would require a keyboard and mouse setup.

And boy would the toxicity hit all time highs as you would clearly identify someone on MKB vs controller in dungeons and raids. It works in FF14 because they force friendliness or they ban/suspend you. Not a big fan of forced friendliness myself.

Raids are also locked at 8 players in ff14, not 20, with most dungeons with trash locked at an even smaller 4 players.

No sh!t Sherlock. Here I’ll spell it out for you, as you appear to lack the basic cognitive skills to understand what I meant. It may not be a big deal having WoW available on Xbox, as people can use a keyboard and mouse. This is a good thing to keep in mind, because it gives us hope that they don’t have to further dumb down the game, to the detriment of pc players, just to have console support.

This whole article is over reaching and click bait

Wow will never be on console unless they SERIOUSLY prune the game MUCH worse than it is. Even then it would still be a very hard thing to port over

OL BOY! what’s you guyses 3 favorite buttons when wow comes to xbox???

you are right. on the other hand, I’d like to see them leave it as is and promote keyboard and mouse game play for the xbox

True. But wow on console? the idea is laughable. Even if they did prune the game to the point where it was possible. Imagine pvp? Xbox players would get DESTROYED by PC players

This about sums up how I see that going

I can definitely see a huge surge in pop if it does but, it’ll be a lot of issues if both consoles and pc play together. Not connection, but gameplay wise.

FFXIV seems to do just fine.

Thats why next expansion they’ll prune half our abilities to make it controller friendly. Active spells becoming passives or procs is fairly easy to implement

Haven’t played that on controller. I did with WoW and didn’t really like it with dungeons. Leveling was fun though and it was easy to move around but it was an addon which wouldn’t be implemented into the console. I’m thinking they’ll do their own. And also players on Xbox could use a keyboard and mice so im expecting a lot of that.

I’m worried about how awful targeting mobs and ground for AoEs will feel. It’s already janky with a mouse and keyboard.

What a lot of people dont realise is that if WoW is available on console (as in XBox) you won’t be able to play it and access your PC WoW account with all its stuff. It will be a completely separate game on a separate account, entirely unconnected to the game we are playing now. So you would effectively be buying a separate account.

Its how ESO works (which Microsoft also owns). The players on console dont interact with my PC account of the game at all. Since the devs would have to redesign aspects of it to work on console, they wouldn’t be compatible.

I’m all for it if the console version comes with cheat codes for all weapons and invincibility.

This is also the case for Star Trek Online. The PC and console versions are 100% separate.

As for WoW… I guess it might be possible to do well on a controller although I personally wouldn’t want to try it. I’ll be sticking to mouse/keyboard.

However I think the lack of support for addons for an Xbox version would be a bigger issue.

I dont really know what alterations, if any, were made to ESO to get it to work on console, since I play on the PC. In fact I didnt even realise until fairly recently that they WERE separate (I had this noob’s idea that they simply played it on their consoles instead of on a computer, keyboard and mouse.) It surprised me and I realised that the statistics for how many were playing it, just based on Steam numbers, had to considerably underrated because console players didn’t go through Steam, they obviously went through either PS5 pass or the XBox pass.

You can get a taste of it by enabling a controller in the PC version of ESO. The entire UI changes dramatically when you do.

I occasionally play it with a controller on my PC but only for leveling or noodling around. It’s awkward at best for dungeons/raids/pvp.

The issue isn’t the buttons or it being on a controller:

It would not run, or if it did it would not run well.

ESO is MADE with consoles in mind so it does console tricks like using repetitive textures and junk. Wow is horribly under optimized in those ways.

Wow is not made with a console in mind and requires a computer upgrade every few years. ESO has to run on an Xbox One, of course it will run better on a series X, forever?

I don’t even know if a Series X or PS5 could run Wow, perhaps the next ones?

I can get up to 14.

4d pad
2 pressdown thumbsticks.
4 triggers
4 buttons.

Key is to set up a groove for muscle memory. LIke how I do for diablo on console.

4 more programmable on pro controllers (M$ or 3rd party) “flippers” on the bottom.

Now am I saying worlds firsters are coming out of this? Not likely. It can be decent for casuals (as nebulous as that term is).

Which is where FF, eso, others picked up some addition players ergo revenue. Not all markets out there are needing to be the best of the best of the best. Those that must be or try to be…yeah, go pc. I dont buy into the whole PC master race bit 100%…but yeah for somethings it is best.
