World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery Announced at BlizzCon

Sounds like a blast. A lot of my friends are interested in doing this.

They are focusing on the classes and balancing that, capping at level 25. This leaves much to be discovered. They even had Kara bait at the end of the slideshow during the panel. with more reception and feedback from the player base they will get a better understanding of what to do next. this is also like a live beta, with the capping at 25 and releasing content over time, testing it as we all go along. We could see new content. I am hoping we see new things done with professions as well. It might not be classic + but it’s a start.

druids also have windfury lmao, but i bet they didnt leave horde out of cool things too. we have to wait and see with not ptr/beta

Dude just go play Era then. Class balance was horrible in classic. In PvE and PvP. They also likely will release new content once they get rolling on this project, its capped at level 25 its definitely nearly a live beta and we’re all here for the journey.

I honestly don’t hate this and I’m not a retail player - I started playing wow with classic in 2019. I think at the end of the day, they had to do something very different to get as much people on board. That’s what keeps a game like this alive - the more people, the better. Usually, anyway. This sounds like it would not only appeal to a portion of the classic community, but also the retail/ wrath etc community too.

Besides now there’s basically something for everyone, with era, turtle and other pservers, sod, cata, retail. If you absolutely hate every versions then idk maybe there’s another game out there.

A fresh would have likely died like som did, rush to 60, spam AV ranking, do a couple raids, play two wsg/ab and quit. It’s the same content that’s been ironed out for idk how many years now.

On the other hand, maybe this SOD thing will be enough change to create new metas, change the way people play? Only time will tell. I also don’t hate the idea of phased levelling, although I guess timing/content will be important.

It’s not exactly what a lot of people asked for, but maybe that’s what people needed? Only time will tell! I’ll def give it a try.

Tbf thats pretty accurate - warrior stacking in PVE as meta is not “balanced”. I will say PVP it’s somewhat more balanced in many cases but maybe I’m missing something.

Literally the only thing I care about

Which ranking system will be in SOD?

they should add Retribution Paladin that can act as DPS

At this point of the presentation, I was like “Why?”
But, hey! I’m excited for Cata-Classic! Gonna get me hunter ready! Kibilzirak! It is time for adventure again… Next Year!

What would be interesting to see is each class having a tank, dps, healer spec. Each having their own pvp talents within their tree. Before you go off on tangents, yes they already have the specs just not talents to correspond to abiliities. Tanking warlock… how about a healing hunter (Tyrande)… or a tank priest (Anduin)…
It’s a game made with code. If they really are trying to create something more. Why not give each class more.

Are we still going to have the usual phases though?

Is the Gates of AQ event still going to happen?

They stated at Blizzard con that there will be new content as the servers progress

Oh- Hold up guys, we need to make sure this takes off, I need me some potential felwood furbolg cave content. that has been bothering me for ages.

Any chance of classic discovery monks? get some more leather boys in the mix!

This has me interested to actually play around with classic. Except for playing it for I think maybe 10 hours over four days when it first came out …this will give me a feeling of some point to play classic again. I played “vanilla” back when that’s all we had…so just a re-opening classic again had little draw to me.

With these little additions I’ll check it out.
