We will see how it turns during the first month, but it seems that Blizzard took the risk and will be rewarded for this. Very promising stuff!

The only thing that turns me off here, is the “season” naming. I know it probably serves as a test the waters, defensive stance, but unconsciously it evokes a sense of limited time to play a game mode, which goes against the original feeling of endless adventure and exploration.

All in all, i believe it could well turn to be the bullseye, that Blizzard is pursuing for more than one decade.

Its absent minded ideas made by people that believe they know whats better for their game than their own community. its like “we listen to you” you dont.
you literally have streamers letting you know the pulse of the community.

telling you exactly what we want
and you ignore it.

we arent going to get in line and have this revelation suddenly that we enjoy retail.

we want a certain experience where if my friend has a disadvantage in a game and needs help… I have that advantage that can help that person proceed. It builds friendships it builds goals…

your vanilla community builds on a system thats beyond your minds… and you are completely oblivious to it in every aspect.

we want to keep paying you, we dont want to drop everything and go to pservers.

We want you to finish the stories in classic era, we want a PROMISED Fresh Server PREFERRED with phasing. This is what we like, this is the flavor of ice cream VANILLA that we want. WE DONT WANT YOUR neapolitan ice cream.

We dont want your vision of a game that we viewed as perfect, we want you to complete the rest of the storylines, we want you to maybe make some MINOR changes. We want a random server every couple years that completely resets the MONOPOLY board, so we can start over and everyone can wipe their houses and motels off the freaking board and redoposit the money in the bank.

We like the combat system, we like the world buff system, we like the consume system. We like 40 man raids, we like having to rely on our friends to have a better experience.

I think it looks incredibly interesting and fresh.

On another note, the biggest thing that frustrates me to no end is that this is likely a “safe”, low-lift temperature check to see how the community reacts to new classic content but a loud vocal minority of #nochanges diehards can’t think beyond what’s immediately in front of them and will try and sabotage the whole thing… not realizing that they will look at this and say “Ok, they don’t want new classic content” and never revisit this again. There is a reason why they are doing this piecemeal and not all at once - this is a risk.

Like if you’re a C-suite exec looking at fan reception who has no real frame of reference in WoW and just think that there’s Classic and Retail, you’d think that people hate the entire idea of new classic content from the butthurt on these forums.

Give them a chance. I think it will be fun.

Im speaking for most of the vanilla community that has a complaint with this. This is literally the concensus of 90% of the people of talked to on Whitemane today.

Most of the vanilla community has bounced off the game years ago, or show up for each new classic expansion for a few months before leaving again. If you polled your server a full year after WOTLK classic came out you’re talking about the super diehard classic players - the ones where the stereotype comes from - which aren’t big enough for blizzard to justify making a new expansion for them. I don’t believe your hyperbolic statement that 90% of these people agreed with you but in the end it doesn’t matter if 100% agreed, they’re probably less than 20% of the people that showed up for classic back in 2019.

Most of blizzard’s classic vanilla community is on whitemane cluster.
Apes were excited to come back for a Classic Plus Fresh as well, they changed their mind after today.
The main guilds are reluctantly all in agreeance that they despise this idea, but they have no other choice because the current server has become over inflated and needs a reset.

I know, I talked to most of the guild leaders horde and alliance side.

You have to realize that the people you talked to are such a small sample size of the overall population that showed up for WoW Classic in 2019. Blizzard is not going make a new game tailored to them, because what they want is off-putting the vast majority of the playerbase.

And I’m sure that at least 60% of those people, once they’re done throwing a performative temper tantrum because they didn’t get what they wanted, will still roll on SoD in three weeks.

Again, you keep on showing me really small sample sizes of people and acting like that’s the universal opinion and not the minority. It’s the WoW forums, they attract the same kind of diehard people that still play WoW Classic in 2023. The response to SoD has been positive on bigger social networks full of regular people like Youtube, Twitter, Reddit, etc.

Who cares what other people think? For real, Blizzard made it, it will be out in about three weeks. They aren’t going to not release it or make huge changes before release because of a bunch of dweebs rage post about it on the forums, a desolate wasteland of addicts too lacking in self control to ever just stop playing a game they hate. So if you think it looks cool, like I do, you should try playing it. And if you think it’s dumb, then you should just ignore it. The end

Are Horde even getting a buff like Blessing of Kings? Paladins now have tremor and str/agi built into their new runes? What changes are Horde getting, because right now doesn’t seem much fair.

I kinda wish this extended to proffesions as well.

Uldum as a subterranean zone? The gate behind bael’gar leading to something potentially worse than ragnaros?

That first portal in caverns of time leading to shipwreck blocking a portalway.

Urgh theres so many ideas i feel like i need to watch the dopefish exploration video a few more times.
