Yeah but goblins are all about the currency, so you’ll have to suck it up for this one.
No. I don’t think I have to.
I tire of this F2P style of end game content. I tire of collecting Giant Toe Lint every patch zone.
I am going to lose my mind.
I went an looked the other day at currency, and things that pass as currency, that the game keeps track of. I also looked at bits and pieces of similar stuff that isn’t tracked that I keep - “in case I need it one day”. There is stuff that I have tons of that is worthless now. This is just more soon to be worthless crap that I can add to that list.
The bloating of currencies is a bit annoying, though another way to look at it might be that, rather than charging gold for reputation rewards, blizzard is instead making items purchasable with currencies that are earned naturally over time and are easy to get so long as you’re engaging with the content. I’ve never said, wow, I don’t have enough kej or resonance crystals for the thing I want (except the Queen’s pheromones which is definitely a joke.) And it’s not like the rewards were worthless - there are some fun toys, decent mounts, and significant upgrades right out the door of the expansion that made the whole package an enjoyable experience.
The same is not true with gold, and not everyone goes all in on professions or plays the auction house enough to be rich enough for what these various rewards could have cost if they were to charge gold instead.
Imagine a scenario where all of the above rewards, plus profession recipes and other things, raid consumables, enchants, gems, etc which players generally have to purchase off the AH to “stay viable” in progression environments, all cost gold. The average person who plays this game would be poor very quickly, and then they’d be forced to either play the AH, run old content that isn’t as engaging, beg for cash from their friends, or the most likely option of buying a wow token. Perhaps not F2P, but verging too close on P2W that no one is happy even if the game itself is fun.
I don’t think anyone wants that, and so we’ve got monopoly dollars instead. We probably should have the option to trade some of these in for gold at the end of the expansion, though being able to hide them in the currency tab also kind of works.
Tryna wrap my head around having a goblin-themed raid and no goblin-themed tier sets. I mean are the bosses buying tier pieces on Scamazon so we don’t take their personal gear?
We… “sort of” have goblin-esque “tier” sets with the Trading Post this month, but I do agree that it’s an odd choice.
Look at me.
Look at me.
Hunter tier sets have historically been whatever hostile we’ve been dealing with.
You do not want a Goblin themed Hunter Tier Set.
That would be a pretty morbid take on goblin cartels
“Walk a mile in my shoes, pal!”
Pulls out skinning knife, leans in closely, leering as omnious latin chanting begins to sound behind them
“Oh, I can do you one better than that, buddy…”
I think that’s my issue. After I’m done with an expansion, I’m not going back (well, at least on that character) and all that stuff I worked so hard to get is just forgotten after I move on to the new shiney.
I’m assuming at least some, or not all, of them are warband tradable - which is definitely a step in the right direction. So long as I remember to look and see if there is anything transferable sitting around. But, if I could trade some for some gold - or better yet trading post tendies - that would be awesome!
I think about going back to spend out the currency. But it’s usually something that I’ll have 367 but need 1500 and at that point I’m not going to farm up for something. I think I may have farmed old currency twice.
It’s always awkward going to Tauren gatherings in my Yaungol Slayer Battlegear.
I’ll be excited when they make all old currency warband wide. That’s going to happen, right?
Hi Norman, welcome to Blizzard. Let me show you around. Please remember not to get your hopes up on the tour.
The loss of Hunters’ individual style has been such a tragedy.
It used to be that Hunters were the only class that had their armor themed after monsters they’d hunted and that made a lot of sense and was very satisfying, artistically. Then there was a period from about Cataclysm to Legion where everyone’s armor was themed off monsters.
Then around Legion, they started looking like actual outfits again and Hunters just kind of got lost in the glut of it all.
Of course, as a Rogue, my outfit choices are basically Ninja or Pirate, so it’s not like I’ve got room to criticize.
The eyeball shoulders. Remember the eyeball shoulders.
I was so excited when they added all the purchaseable currency for vanilla reps* during the anniversary.
*Batteries and Ravenholdt not included
We deserved Eyeball Shoulders.
We deserve Eyeball Shoulders.
Yeahnah that stuff is clearly gnome-themed cuz those little footballs always get deference
I tried. Sorry, gobbos.
