That doesn’t matter. The difference between Normal and PVP servers is that on Normal servers, you can toggle the PVP flag on/off. On PVP servers, you do not have the option to opt-out of PVP in contested or hostile zones.
That sort of makes it seem like the playerbase all want to play on one realm, together, and Blizzard wants to force them to play separately.
“The reason we’ve never seen such a large population on a realm for more than a few days is something we call “queue pressure”. The game is much more fun if you’re actually playing it, even on a smaller realm, so in the past, players have always eventually chosen to move to other realms.”
Another interesting thing is that if you look at the IronForge Pro demographics, based on raid logs, Firemaw (the largest server) doesn’t seem to be particularly larger than Benediction (the 24th largest server).
Even on retail they can’t handle a LOT players on the same zone.
World bosses on retail freeze / lag the entire zone. You can’t even queue your spells properly. Everything Lags.
We’re talking about retail wow.
They refuse to acknowledge it.
They refuse to address it.
Their server technology is subpar or quite undertuned to support large number of players.
And on retail, we’re talking about a single shard that receives up to 40 new players fighting a world boss.
How can a shard simply almost CRASH when there is at maximum +40 players fighting a world boss. And it happens every week.
I guess the answer is what we see in Shattrath now and have been seeing in Orgrimmar/Stormwind throughout classic wow with world buffs dropping.
Where does this ever happen? I haven’t seen it, and I kill World Bosses in Retail quite often.
Subpar, huh? I don’t have access to their tech, because I don’t work for Blizzard, but I imagine their server tech to be quite good, if not industry leading.
I’ve never experienced this. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but I’m somewhat skeptical.
I think they could merge and shard. They could also just increase the min. supported hardware requirements, and everybody could play together; possibly with only regionally separated servers; e.g. East/West, though I’m not sure how much that matters, when we have people from all over North and South America on the same servers anyway, and as far as I know a lot of the latency within instanced content is due to P2P communication, though I suppose it still all goes to the servers.
and what does that have to do with breaking the firemaw? as I understand the breaking you said, you wanted to put firemaw in a situation like Benediction and Faerlina, and I didn’t see any of that…
It has happened throughout the expansion. check threads complaining about lag / world bosses. People with 30ms having the character completely locked out and not casting anything.
This isn’t something new.
Compared to the amateur infrastructure pirate servers used where they could actually sustain a capital city dropping world buffs without freezing (Netherwind had about 1500 horde players and when we had like 1/5 of that, Orgrimmar would freeze at Onyxia’s/Nefarian’s head drop).
Perhaps you don’t play retail as often as I did throughout Shadowlands launch until now.
Can’t be done.
that is not what I meant.
They want to drastically remove a LOT of people from that realm.
And this thread is suggesting to create another firemaw.
LoL
This is most likely the case. I just started about 5 weeks ago.
so yeah, all the 4 world bosses that went with the launch used to lag a LOT, in special on Tuesdays/wednesdays that seemed a LOT people doing the weekly world quests on them.
Even if that means that all players are trying to do that, the sharding system + realm system should prevent that from happening.
I guess it depends on what’s causing the issues.
no. I honestly haven’t been playin classic long enough to even know what that means. I just came back, my friend said to roll on Bene or Faerlina because of pop. But he never mentioned this were monoservers. Before boosting i tried other servers and their not as alive as Bene. So when I see the two most active servers are PVP and a frigging faction each… it just seemed like a very unenjoyable scenario. Which it is. But if i want to progress my character i have to play there… And that’s why their full.
Not because everyone on the server had a meeting and actively chose to opt out of PVP.
Turns out their not even real players, just a bunch of bots. there’s entire guilds of just bots going about. You can’t buy things in the auction house with it instantly going up in price for the next one you’re trying to buy. So, in essence you are arguing on their behalf. It’s disgusting that the player base would side with the people that kill this game.
There is something called “seek to understand before seeking to solve” which is common sense when dealing with problems.
the reason to roll into one of these servers is because of the high population, the likelihood of you:
- finding groups
- finding a guild
- decent economy (dead servers you can’t even buy clothes in the AH, imagine selling things)
- having fun
What if (and just what if), instead creating the 443885th thread asking to merge Faerlina and Benediction, you would roll on Grobbulus instead?
That is the most cute fan-fiction I’ve ever read.
I use the AH every day. I can’t stand people lying through their teeth.
I am arguing on my behalf.
And you don’t speak on behalf of me or any player.
To be honest, you don’t even speak off as a player of any of those realms, as far as I know you’re just a new alt troll posting here.
That’s a foolish outlook, anyone could be playing retail but be using a classic avatar to post with and you wouldn’t know it.
too long didn’t read.
If it’s that easy, why don’t you pay for everyone? why has it been said a million times that it’s not fair to be harmed or pay the bill for this problem generated by BLIZZARD? it’s always the same wrong conversation, “why don’t you play in grobbulus?” simple, First, because we are not to blame and it is not fair that we get hurt and still have to pay. Second for many the grobbulus for being on the other side of the United States generates a latency problem (the MS gets too high). Third, there are not only American players playing, character transfer is extremely expensive and unrealistic, here for example it’s 70$ per character and the vast majority like me don’t have just 1 character, but several characters and even you Americans complain that the value is very high, being 25$ per character for you.
so please let’s stop with this meaningless conversation of “why don’t you go to grobbulus? or just pay character transfer if you want PVP”
Again it doesn’t make sense for PVP servers to be from just one faction, this is a PVE server thing, this is destroying the server and the game for not making any sense, there are PVE servers like Mankrik and pagle in that exact way, for me there is no problem from blizzard to free migrations for PVE players to go to their PVE realms, but the PVP servers have to be fixed!
As you yourself don’t put words in the mouths of others or the community as if it’s common sense saying that “you don’t have to fix it, or that everyone wants it to be like this because they hate PVP and bla bla bla” because this is a lie .
and like me many want the PVP Servers to be fixed.
For someone that loves making huge posts (without using any form of paragraphs btw) you sure seem to like trolling anyone that makes a decent point against your argument with ‘too long didn’t read.’
Btw feel free to keep liking your posts with that alt of yours, you’re fighting a losing fight. The community, and blizzard, don’t want any of this snake oil you’re trying to sell.
Paid ones too, all transfers are destructive.
You literally have the word “Entitled” right next to your name. Also, don’t accuse me of caring about this post enough to make an alt lol. I would’ve let it die down days ago but you neckbeards keep coming back to express your opinions that literally no one else cares about. and neither do I so I don’t read long toxic responses. They don’t concern me. It’s called minding your own bossiness and i suggest you try it some time.
Also: did you just speak on behalf of the entire community and of Blizzard as a company? hahahahahahaha you have some serious complexes going on in that little head of yours.
blizzard fix the PVP Servers, they are destroyed, it makes no sense PVP servers with 99.9% of a single faction!!!
