Nothing really conveys an open world where war is the only constant like having entire battlegroups being monofaction. Having monofaction servers wasn’t enough. Now it’s battlegroups. Warcraft isn’t truly classic until we see only our own faction in the world, in BGs, in arenas etc. This could have all been avoided had Blizzard spent a modicum of time balancing servers via gated transfers. They have the metrics. They already know how to do this. Unless perhaps the people who actually had the ability to balance servers are no longer working at Blizz?
Suggestion:
Merge the highest pop PvP Alliance/Horde servers to one megaserver. Repeat with similarly populated PvP/PvE/RP servers. Condense battlegroups in a similar manner.
Faction balance is meaningless. It serves no purpose whatsoever. Everyone who cares about and enjoys WPVP is already playing on the low end of faction disparate servers, and if that isn’t you, then clearly it isn’t a priority for you.
Players want faction dominated servers and forcing thousands of people onto a server they don’t want to be on to artificially create world pvp is just going to lead to people quitting
They did it for nearly two decades and seemingly forgot how to do so once Classic dropped. Weird.
Then they should play another game. It’s Warcraft. Let’s be honest, the only reason the servers became unbalanced is because Blizz allowed transfers without taking the time to actually manage them.
The big retail servers are/were faction dominated before all the server changes were made to basically remove servers completely. I haven’t played on a faction balanced server since original Wrath.
The majority want to be on a pvp server without actually having to pvp, all the iterations of classic have proven this to be true, and the only balanced servers are those that are forced to be by blizzard.
No they didn’t.
People now know which faction is the more attractive and will stack that faction. That was not as wide spread back at launch. Might want to go read that blue post about the new faction balancing, it’s interesting.
Those two statements contradict one another. Yes, they did in fact balance server pops cross faction. It isn’t a new system.
That’s not what you originally said, you know that, and you are intentionally being dishonest.
In case your memory is really that short.
Now you want to pass it off as “well now that there is cross server play between factions you can see how retail is monofaction”…it’s not even clever gaslighting. It’s just sad
All of classic is one battlegroup. They could put everyone on the same server and you’ll still see monofaction battlegrounds. You can go back to the TBC era on these forums and see people complaining that the Horde queue times are way too long. Faction v Faction bgs was put in place to solve that.
I seem to remember people claiming 1-2hr queue times for WSG or AB.
