The premise is the same though, get into the details if you wish but frankly everyone else copies from the top few, whether their strat gets changed or not.
When was the last time YOU entered a boss fight with your guild that had not already seen x amount of youtube vids or walk-throughs etc. That’s my point, the vast majority just copy the top guilds.
I think that’s fair, but that doesn’t change the fact that it isn’t something they should acknowledge happens and point people who may be interested towards it.
Comments like this are super frustrating. Saying “when was the last time you entered a fight without any videos watched” just shows you know nothing about raiding and by checking your achievements, you don’t even have one AoTC so that explains why you can even hold that opinion. Raids are very hard. Even with all the videos and guides, still only several hundred guilds will Clear the raid on Mythic. Without guides, that number would be under 100. People don’t have time to theory craft for themselves, that is why people are so interested in watching the top guilds. They are doing something that is impossible for the rest of the community. Guides make raiding possible for thousands of more casual players. Not even Method goes in blind on most fights because they worked them out in the PTR. Ignoring guides would just waste the limited raiding time a guild has each week.
Sorry you got frustrated, also sorry you don’t know me very well and feel the need to belittle me in an attempt to defend your point.
Well thanks for the heads up there, had no idea being such a casual and all.
Very commendable.
Pretty sure that was my point, but thanks for making it again.
I don’t care to argue with you and your hard headed opinion, you come over as an elitist that thinks that as they operate at a higher lvl of the game they are somehow allowed to be condescending.
I just wanted to make a simple point that the top guilds are the ones doing the work for most everyone else and you seem to agree with me, while bashing me at the same time.
I’ll give you a gold star if you want to feel super special.
Ok but wouldn’t this encourage Blizzard to tune the raids to meteoric levels in order to lengthen the first race time period and maximize visibility?
I believe their intention was to have a somewhat casual game where almost everyone has the opportunity to master the content developed. So if pros want to come in and destroy the raid in a few days, fine as it is available to them but not the true intention of the game. It also could be a money thing in that the time and money invested in supporting it outweighs the rewards.
Wait, did you mean to say the MDI gets poor views?
That’s just false, not sure where you are seeing that.
The last full one had about 66k views on average.
Either way, my point was that Blizzard doesn’t want to take it any more serious than they have to, as it is just not currently supported in the game, and exposes extremely bad habits that aren’t within the scope of the content.
For the MDI, you may practice 10 hours a day, but you don’t have to play 80 hours a week to win it.
They aren’t going to ban these people from doing it, but they aren’t going to change the game to officially support it either.
Right, the “world first” has been going on for 14 years. The MDI just started. If you aren’t engaged in it, that doesn’t mean others aren’t. Pretty shallow view point to say such a thing.
Competitive dungeons absolutely will sustain interest in the long run, because they don’t just happen for 1 week every 6 months.
There isn’t much point to this discussion either way, especially since you have such a closed mind to it.
The “world first race” is a player ran competition. Until its not, there is nothing to compare.
You are complaining that some top guilds make guides that make content expressible to the masses. That was the whole point of your last reply. That is a ridiculous thing to complain about and only someone with no raiding experience would see that as an issue. It has nothing to do with an elitist attitude, it is just very annoying to see someone who doesn’t raid criticize aspects of the raiding community. That would be like me going into an RP thread and putting forth my list of complaints about RPing in WoW. I am trying to wrap my head around why someone like you would even care that top mythic guilds make guides to help out the rest of the community access content that they otherwise couldn’t?
To be fair. Compare apples to apples. You linked a youtube video and are comparing it to active stream viewers (Method’s stream (across the main stream and the individual player streams) is currently at around 100k viewers right NOW). Multiple of the WF videos of the past have over 1M views on youtube.
I remember the first MDI had a large amount of stream view, but I’m not sure about the most recent ones. Have they retained the same pull? Genuinely curious.
Yeah but Limit have had more time on her and they are staying silent about thier progress. We think they are very close or ahead of Method just because they have had an extra day.
Another had a Twitch thing that said 39%. Noone actually knows what Limit is doing. They went back to heroic far earlier then Method so it is safe to assume they figured out the composition but found a problem in a dps check.
Ya, there is nothing to link that’s factual there, so I can’t do it.
Let’s not waste time with this. I have no interest in whether or not the MDI draws more or less attention by a significant number than the world first race.
I was just interested in discussing WHY Blizzard doesn’t officially support it.
They don’t, but WHY.
That’s what I gave my opinions on.
The previous poster was basically saying that they do care, but that wasn’t my position. Its just that they don’t want to officially support it for some reason.
My bet is that it’s probably a legal thing. They point people towards the Method stream, someone on the Method stream says something unpalatable, people blame Blizzard for supporting such behavior. At least that’s the best reason I can come up with.
I don’t buy the “they don’t support unhealthy gaming” mentality. They’ve literally built the last two expansions systems around encouraging “unhealthy gaming” habits.
Also… Millions of people watched the Superbowl this year. That doesn’t mean that everyone is going to immediately run out of their house and start practicing football for 10 hours a day… It’s entertainment. Don’t blow things out of proportion.
Huh? That was one of multiple reasons.
Regardless of it being unhealthy, its a very inconsistent time frame for the different guilds taking place, and that is difficult to market well.
Ideally, this “race” would be taking place all in one time zone all from one area.
Its not.
But no, i don’t think your comparison to the football is fair at all. I’d say its not even intelligent.
If the Football game was 16 hours long for a full week, then I’d understand your point.
You should look at what Method is doing to make this happen.
Its REALLY REALLY unhealthy.
But its gaming, and that’s fine by me. That’s what I do, and what many others do and that makes us happy.
But as a brand and a company, it may not be best to support this type of behavior.
Among other things that are problematic with this race, I think this one is a clear reason for them to distance themselves.
