Tomorrow we get to login right away with no queues while others are stuck in their cubes
Hahaha and then people will be like “GET A JOB LOSER,” and we’ll just chuckle because we get paid to play wow ![]()
I wish my job was that unimportant and easy to replace.
i will be online, afk in shatt all day till raid time, not because I want to, because I have to in order to be able to raid.
Lol mad?
I keep infrastructure for a fortune 50 company running. I’m actually quite difficult to replace
Fortune 50. Lel
Have fun at McDonalds!
Yes as in top 50. What’s so difficult to understand?
What exactly do you do to keep it runningM
You also cured every disease on Earth twice, right? Or <insert made up job/argument to win internet argument>.
You’re nobody and can be replaced with a drinking bird. Deal with it. Being able to work from home is #1 on the list of “clues you can be replaced tomorrow”.
Just seems to be kind of a …non-impressive thing to be gloating over
ITT: jealous people who are “shift leads” at wendys
I’m not gloating im replying to some dude who is clearly butthurt because he has to work 40+ hours a week in person to barely make ends meet. This was moreso a discussion about being happy to work from home and play WoW until the party poopers came in
depends where you live i think, i know someone who works on music for hollywood movies and makes bank but lives in like a 1 room studio because of the cost of living there
Severe doubt. Anyways, have fun at your made up job. Bye!
I will be playing WoW and getting paid unless something breaks, beyond sitting through about 5 hours of meetings where all I have to do is log into them and answer a few brief questions here and there. Have fun malding and going to work tomorrow
I don’t think you understand what it means then.
To answer your question… for the things that already exist… nothing unless something breaks or isn’t running poorly.
Most of what we deal with is data migration, which involves shipping out AWS storage gateway appliances and moving data from previous on-prem resources to that, and then building a hybrid cloud environment where they can, for example, put data they don’t use often but need for retention requirements in storage that is much more cost effective.
A lot of the trouble comes with ACLs (basically sets of rules for permissions on files or directories) in place on objects, because AWS has a cap on ACLs, so we need to work closely with engineers and other teams to ensure we can determine how to get their data from one place to another without breaking applications, causing security loopholes for highly sensitive data, and so on.
Beyond that, we address issues with things like load balancing and cache to ensure data can be accessed at speeds that are acceptable from site to site. The sites are all across the globe.
I could write a book but I’ll keep it brief and give the couple of examples I did in the event you were actually interested.
just work for blizz and play wow all day
Lol implying they play their own game, doubtful
