Because the lack of dual-spec hurts some classes more than others?
It’s a bit ironic that you, a druid, is such an outspoken critic of dual-spec. Don’t druids have the most to gain?

Shouldn’t that illuminate for you how my argument isn’t biased, more than anything?
I never said you were biased, I said you were wrong.
Regardless, it is obvious that dual-spec would help some classes/specs more than others. This is especially true for tanks who get a pretty raw deal in TBC. Can’t PvP, can’t farm.
In vanilla, my guild basically bankrolled all the tank consumables because tanks need more than anyone.
What? Tanks are some of the easiest classes to farm as!
You’re referring to PROT PALADINS.
Feral druids who literally have cat form.
And Prot Warriors who do really decently at mobbing because they have their whole kit.
This is completely untrue what you’ve said.
Feral, sure. Prot anything, no.
That doesn’t mean they can’t do it, but it is pretty bad compared to other classes/specs.
And with dual spec you won’t have any reason at all to use that hybrid spec.
See how dual spec is a small cosmetic change that won’t impact on game design? … not.
No-one is trying to say that people won’t have a much easier time with dual spec, what we’re saying is that making everyones time and choice trivial is a major departure from the core ethos of TBC and essentially makes the game pointless - a new game with no new content.
In old school mmos the grind is the game. You remove the grind and you kill the game. The content itself is not particularly challenging and it’s all been solved.
There’s a subsection of gamers that like old school grinder mmos. There’s plenty of new titles that cater to those that don’t.
The limiting factor for Prot Warriors is gear not spec. Devastate can pack a decent punch when you have DPS oriented gear. You take less damage too so have to bandage/eat less.
When we were all focused on defensive gear farming was a pain. Now most of us are fleshing out offsets it’s hardly an issue.
Dual-spec isn’t exactly tri-spec, if you know what I mean.
I’m so cheap that even on Kronos where respecs were 5g, I still played in a hybrid spec.
As compared to what?
Did you play on K1?
Naa, I came in with the Nostalrius refugees to K2.
Well, I draw on my experience on Kronos as justification for why dual spec would be a poor choice.
The easy respec made it way too easy to be the perfect spec for whatever activity you pleased and it was legitimately noticeable, the effect it had on the gameplay environment.
I dunno, I had a lot of fun on Kronos. Can you be more specific about what you didn’t like?
I thought the PvP was great, the raids were fine, everything felt fine. I enjoyed Kronos a hell of a lot more than I did Classic.
Yeah, I mean, it was fine, but the ease of respeccing imo added an element of optimization to everything that was accessible to everyone and it made it so you were expected to be the perfect spec for everything in any activity at all times without any leeway.
I don’t want that in Classic.
Compared to the inconvenience of grinding stuff. It’s pretty easy as prot when you have decent dps gear.
I would suggest it’s as good as if not better than farming as Fury or pve specced Arms and maybe just a tad slower than farming as pvp specced Arms. Due to lower downtime.
Obviously it’s a horrible grinding spec if you’re in mitigation gear.
A lot of the discussion around Dual spec ignores gear. Gear is really very fundamental. There’s a reason why adaptive stats was put into wow in later expansions, because dual spec on it’s own does little to solve the core problem.
I can predict right now that getting people who don’t want to Tank or Heal to switch into that spec and role, then put on their sub par ungemmed and unenchanted Tanking/Healing gear to perform the role they hardly ever do in Heroic Shat is not going to make the game more enjoyable for most players.
I don’t remember anyone ever asking me about my spec or even being that tryhard about raiding. I ran with like the biggest meme guild on K2, Obsolete.
I thought the battlegrounds actually had the perfect mix of casuals and hardcore players, almost never any premades. And no one was ever afk(because they would get reported and kicked).
Or because of increased gold from items, daily quests and all that. Kinda like what happened in original TBC.
Still affected by the market. Bots still exist which means players are still buying gold.
It’s already coming.
Honestly, at this point, there is no reason to read the forums anymore.
it’s a NO from me.
This, times 1000!
