Witch Doctor Class

I always loved the spell used by Hex Lord Malacrass called Spirit Bolts — Malacrass channels a powerful barrage of spirit bolts, inflicting shadow damage to nearby players every 0.5 second.

I also liked the spell Brainwash Totem used by Jin’do. Brain Wash Totem - Jin’do can drop Mind Control totems that will Mind Control the nearest raid member. Mind Control is not dispellable, and the totem must be destroyed to free the controlled person.

Definitely loved Shrink used by HexMaster Zalazane. Shrink Shrinks the target, reducing damage dealt by 10%.

I enjoy all the spells that focus on the darker aspects on nature and death. Loving the Frogs, Spiders, Snakes, Spirits, and Zombie themes. Love that people are referencing Loa.

The Witch Doctor would bring something totally fresh to World of Warcraft, both in terms of style and gameplay. The Witch Doctors mix of mechanics and unique abilities would make them super fun to play. With their ability to switch between different playstyles, use powerful spirit-based powers, they’d be a great choice for anyone who loves flexibility. Plus, with cool Voodoo powers and abilities that feel both strong and flavorful, the Witch Doctor would definitely be a creative and rewarding class.

Spiders, frogs, and snakes seem like perfect fits for the class. Hethiss is a snake Loa, Krag’wa is a frog Loa, and Shadra is a spider Loa. I would love these themes added to a class along with Dark Voodoo. I Think Summoning a Cauldron filled with poison that hurts enemies is a cool idea. I also want the following spells from other Witch Doctors in game. Shrink Shrinks the target, reducing damage dealt. used by HexMaster Zalazane. I loved the spell Toad of Hugeness in D3 that is why I designed the following. I also love Krag’wa!
Big Mojo Frog. Description: The Witch Doctor uses dark voodoo to summon a massive frog spirit that leaps into a targeted area, stunning and poisoning enemies around it. The larger the stored Voodoo Power, the more devastating the frog’s presence becomes.

Shadow Hunter is a much better name for a melee Witch Doctor than I had suggested! I like the sound of it!

I also like that the “Voodoo Power” becomes this resource to maintain and affects the power of your skills, which could create some interesting gameplay around when’s the best choice to spend it vs. hoarding it to get more out of other abilities.

I’m glad you like the name “Shadow Hunter” for the Witch Doctor spec! I was trying to think of a way to bring the Warcraft 3 Witch Doctor and Shadow Hunter classes into WoW, and it made sense to combine them into a Voodoo class. I wanted the class to feel wild, so I added Voodoo Power as a resource to give it a chaotic vibe. It also ties into the theme of spirits and Loa, where the Witch Doctor must carefully manage their connection to the supernatural. This could also lead to some cool synergies or trade-offs depending on playstyle.

I also love how Esmerira designed a hybrid class that can heal, as well as provide both ranged and close-range DPS. The Voodoo Power is a very cool idea! Love this class to use cloth armor!

Okay, What if.

When this class was released it was available to Trolls and Zandalari, because obviously, first. But since Blizzard can’t or won’t generally do something that only one side can interact with, and here me out, the Alliance race available is Human.

Since we see them (though more often than not jokingly) somewhat do something similar in several places within the game.

And eventually they allow the player character to undergo a questline where you eventually unlock the class for every other race (Horde and Alliance), on the idea that YOUR character that you did the quest on was embarking on the journey to teach others how to be a Witch Doctor.

And just to stab the hearts of a lot of fans from the book, the Human contact who helps you do this for the Alliance side is Tyrathan Khort who basically indicates he “learned this from an old friend” as he tells you somewhat sadly that that friend is gone now but he wants to help pass on the knowledge. >.>

I realize the man is just a hunter and that humans as witch doctors is a stretch… but… Yeah.

They could also just create Drust Witches for Alliance and Witch Doctor for Horde. I am totally fine with faction exclusive classes. I think it makes the factions more unique.

Shamans used to be exclusive to Horde. I am fine with Witch Doctor being Horde exclusive and Drust Witch being the Alliance counterpart.

The Kurzen Witch Doctors are the only human ones in the game that I know of… They are hostile to Horde and Alliance. I would prefer Horde exclusive Witch Doctor and Alliance exclusive Drust Witches.

If that’s the only way for me to get Witch Doctor, I suppose I can deal with it, but I’d rather it be a Horde exclusive like Esmerira suggested.

Would Drust Witches be different? Like is that a different class or just a different name?

I don’t really have issues with faction exclusive classes though I don’t think Blizzard would do so these days. Fun to imagine the possibilities though.

I think it would be cool if it was two different classes. I am a person who supports bringing back faction identity. There could be some overlap…
