This has likely been put forward before, but what if instead of one side attacking and one defending, instead you both have a base to defend. It might be interesting to switch from attack to defense or just race to the finish.
Defense defends the fortress.
Offense defends their towers.
Honestly, I’d love for a new battleground to be designed with random 3 factions:
- A random player faction
- A random player faction
- A random PvE faction
The player factions can be anything you can get reputation for, and winning will give reputation for that faction, with the downside that this is random and you can’t actually farm rep this way very efficiently.
The battle would be similar to Isle of Conquest, but PvPvE, where you have to fight the opposing faction with mobs themed around that faction (perhaps even the fortress itself) while the PvE faction attacks both with waves and such. Kinda like what would happen if you’d do an Isle of Conquest but add in Warfronts (except not as bad as they are).
The player factions would be nothing more than “you get reputation for this” with a small flavor variety of different NPCs and building looks, while the opposing NPC faction themed around the big baddie could change how you have to defend/attack both factions.
The map would have control points that can be re-captured and supply some kind of boost to the team owning it. Capturing a fort will give you control of that fortress, which basically acts as a bigger and better control points. Not having a fort will not make you lose, but it will make it much harder to win. Want to get back in the game? Capture a fort of the other factions. PvE assaults would continue, even when you capture their fort.
Win criteria is to hold all 3 forts.
Will this be a never ending battleground? Probably, but hey, I love the Classic Ashran Brawl! You just hop in, have fun, play until you have to log off!
Doesn’t have to be instanced imo, but with the current state of the servers in terms of mass PvP, might be a good idea
