Any news or possible information on how wintergrasp is going to work on mega servers?
For example benediction is 99.9% alliance with the occasional random horde sighting.
My concern would be doesn’t wintergrasp require approximate horde to alliance ratios to work? Is this going to be a cross server endeavor or how is this going to work?
I remember seeing something about them being aware of it but we have no further information on a “fix”.
My guess is they’ll instance it, but i hope it stays the same on the servers with some balance like Grobbulus.
I understand that a buff was added in later patches but there some servers that have 0 horde or alliance.
So does that mean if 1 horde joins on the mega server they get a mega buff and just go around 1 shorting people lol??
Wondering this too
Grobb should be fine, Horde are the bigger population but so far I’ve noticed that a lot of Alliance and Horde have different times they’re most active.
I think Alliance is more West Coast and Horde is more East Coast so Wintergrasp should be balanced around the most active times.
No but I’m sure Blizzard will come to the rescue. The narcissistic majority will never have to actually face a consequence for ruining all the realm populations. Blizzard won’t allow it.
Its Blizzard so instead of doing something that makes sense they will potentially do the following because its convoluted and makes it worse.
-
Since this is Blizzard it will likely be some kinda instance that has a CD associated, and will require you win to gain access…
-
Moreover not only the above be required but since the mentioned mega servers are basically 1 faction they will likely also screw the players over by making it Alliance Vs Alliance in most cases for a server like benediction or Horde vs Horde on servers like Farlina.
I had to put my Blizzard hat on to figure out how bad to make it.
it’s server based and the battle will start even if zero horde signed for it, then it will be always free win for the alliance while they’re just afk’ing as defenders
the buff will only stack to 20x, you’ll still be able to one shot anyone with them but the enemy will CC you and kill you, since you won’t have that massive hp! so you can enjoy the overpowered buff but you’ll never win vs the numbers.
It will be a mess.
Doubt that strongly.
It doesn’t require a certain number of either to start, but there is a limit to how many get in. If no one joins, then it continues to stay as the Defenders territory. If only the dominant faction stands a chance of filling the zone, then they basically just need to hold out until the timer ends. I personally do not remember the vehicles getting the Outnumbered buff.
So basically, on single faction mega servers it will work similar Terokkar towers, just takes longer to sit in it and win. Will also mean the lesser faction will have yet another reason to xfer off, as they’ll probably never get to do VoA otherwise.
Means they get cc’ed for 20 seconds and die
Only a handful of servers will be able to actually enjoy Wintergrasp as it was intended, many more will simply cap the place whenever they need to get their weekly raid done and not have to actually fight anyone.
It will be an instanced BG like on Retail, otherwise hardly anyone will be able to do it. Even forgetting the faction imbalances, remember that it’s a 40 man event. That’s a drop in the bucket when mega servers have 10s of thousands of players. As far as the raid instance goes, it will just have to be left open to both sides all the time.
I’m kinda hoping it’ll be cross realm so we can actually participate in the event.
I believe it will be. They will add a Wintergrasp Battlemaster so you can queue for it like any other BG. The zone itself will be dead like it is on Retail.
Who gets VoA?
Legends say that archavon himself will step out of the vault and fight for the lower faction, granting them an epic battle.
That would be an incredible change to see ngl. Such a fun idea to have a boss fight during pvp. What a beautiful cluster that would be.
Just leave the doors open so both sides can get in.
