Hey, so after my last Wintergrasp video, I got a lot of questions about what to do if one loses the fight at SR. Well the video is finally made! Enjoy!
As you can see, Wintergrasp Offense is not as unbeatable as many people believe. The first teamfight is highly overrated, and only serves to make or break “morale.” It ain’t over till it’s over!
Didn’t you post this like 2 months ago?Bumping your own thread for likes is pretty sad.If a group can’t win WG then they need to rethink the startegy instead of quitting,
Yes defensive team will usually rush down to the south side to take out towers and people don’t like listening to calls for an early cap of BT so losing the SR fight but gaining rank is a good opportunity for an early BT rush. People underestimate how fast a train of even just 3-5 demos can bring down a wall. Even a moderate vehicle train can be in the main courtyard before most of the defensive team realises what’s going on let alone making it back across the map to base. In the horde BG communities I refer to a west-side push while the defence are distracted as “Plan B”.
Caveat: it rarely works. It’s rare to have a team that’s both bad enough to lose SR but good enough to listen to instructions and quickly get to BT for the vehicle train. But I have won WG matches this way before that we would have otherwise lost. Even if the offense is stalled on east side for some reason attacking west with 3-5 demos from BT is a great way to threaten inner courtyard before defence reacts as they are all clumped on east side.
Another tip for people on offense: remember that demolishers are ranged. You can attack a wall from far away. Most of the time you’ll want the added damage of melee Ram but if the defence are entrenched and the strong AoE classes are cleaving down the clumps of demos coming in, it really disrupts things to be the one lone demo off to the side especially since, no offense, the average epic BG player is playing super zoomed in with default UI and no nameplates. You can also shoot over the west/east outer courtyards at the main entrance. Again I’ve turned possible losses into wins this way.
