I am on Ashkandi and Ally won Wintergrasp at 9pm est time yesterday. i tried to fly back to turn in quests and do the raid however Horder owned the base?
Am I wrong or was Ally supposed to have control after a win?
Not always.
You may have won yours but ally might have lost overall. I don’t think they ever said who gets control after each battle. It might flip back and forth or whichever faction has more wins overall get control on every server.
I don’t understand what this means. there is a group of servers in wintergrasp I can see other server names under player names so what other people would affect whether i had control on my server? this isn’t how it worked in 2008 or whatever
That’s because it wasn’t a cross server instance in 2008.

How the heck do you even know who owns WG if its not necessarily if you win the battle?
Seems mega stupid, noteven a portal in dalaran either

It was said.
No one owns it in the 30 min que window this is the ops issue he went durring this window. As some battles end early you need to wait till the full 30 min pass. After the 30 min que window so long as anyone on your realm of that faction has won wintergrasp in the last 3 hours, and as such has the won wintergrasp buff the entire realm and faction owns a instances version of wintergrasp. As such on most realms this means outside the 30 min window both factions at all times owns wintergrasp.

So 30 minutes after the battle ended no one owns it and you can’t go back but after that 30 minutes you can go in? If that is the case it needs to more clearly be stated some place its very confusing. Still think there shold be a portal to it in dalaran though.
It was working where both could own it and it was just phased or whatever. While out in the world, I’ve had the buff and have seen Horde who also had the buff.
It is stated quite clearly. Also no it’s not 30 min after the battle ended it’s 30 min from when the que time starts. The moment que time is over you can go there and it will be owned by your faction so long as anyone of your faction won in the last 3 hours.
You go to the zone it out right tells you the battle is in progress or about to start, come back when it’s over.
The wintergrasp bg guy you que from also outright tells you the window is 30 min and even gives a timer for the window. He also gives a timer once it’s over.
This was also explained in a blue post. People not bothering to read what’s in the game is not really blizzards issue. While they have many issues this is not one of them.

Where is it stated by blizzard ? I found a blue post explaing the technical limitation but it says nothing about needing a buff to go back it mentions the “essence of wintergrasp” but not that you need the buff to go back to do the raid or turn in quests. not to mention i had to find that blue post through wowhead.
Never once said it mentions needing the buff do read.
It says someone on your faction needs it from the last 3 hours ago. This is massively different than you needing the buff.
it says nowhere in there that you or anyone in yourfaction needs the buff for the purpose of being able to go back after a win.
" In Wrath of the Lich King Classic, this works in a fairly simple way, if anyone on your faction participates in and wins a Battle for Wintergrasp, your entire faction is granted the Essence of Wintergrasp and the buff will last until the next time the battle is initiated."
This tells you what this buff is suppoesd to allow you to do or that you have to wait a certain amount of time after a win to be able to go back.
The blue post explaining how the new wintergrasp works in fact dose tell you that someone on your faction needs that buff in order for wintergrasp to be owned.
In fact if you just look up what that buff means (you control wintergrasp) that vary line you quoted in fact also says that.
Can you give me a link to the blue post your talking about? I haven’t seen anything saying that you will get the buff 30 minutes after the battle or if the battle was quick you might not get it immediately. Not trying to be argumentitive i just have not seen anything saying that. Just that you will get it after a win and i didn’t get it after my recent win

Also do read never said you get a buff 30 min after a win. Said on winning wintergrasp you get a buff and so long as anyone on your faction has it your faction has control of wintergrasp.
The game in game outright tells you if you go to wintergrasp durring the que period wait till the battle is over.
The que guy outright tells you the battle is in progress. This lasts for the full 30 min que period.
You don’t need a blue to see what the game outright tells you.
I don’t have a link to the blue post. But I can tell you that if you open your eyes and pay attention, you’ll notice it. I’m not trying to be snarky. Just wondering how posts like this get popular at least once a week.
It there are that many of them it is not being cleary stated then huh. people thought it was going to function the same way it did back then and it doesn’t. Unless people hang out in the blizzard forums they arent going to know. I still don’t think there isnt anything saying the battle last a certain amount of time regardless if someone wins before that or not.
Is it the person that you queue with that says you won’t get the buff immedaitely after a victory ? or do they just say the battle is still going on?
I didn’t learn about it reading the forums. I learned about it reading the blue posts when they (Blizzard) were making changes.
That, and, winning wintergrasp and noticing that even though my fight was done, people were still in the battle and I didn’t have the buff. And then, once the 30 minute window to que closed (the blue posts again), THAT’S when I got the buff, and could enter the zone without being kicked out.
