No that’s only for average and below guilds. Which does not include me so I don’t really care if people hate us
That’s fine. If shadowfang drops and I’m in your group I’m rolling need on it but I won’t be using it, I’ll be selling it. If you kick me from the group it’s ok because I made gold from the run and will join another group. Yu came to play with the big dogs
hmm guess your right he did play in vanilla… (best way to check if someone played in vanilla is to check legacy pvp achievements, the reason this char has achievements late is that I stopped playing late BC and came back in Wrath to play with some roommates in college and rerolled onto there server so I never really played this char in Wrath.)
But if you check, I have the First Seargent Achievement from 60 meaning I hit rank 5 in vanilla(was very casual when it came to pvp)
on yours I see you hit ranks 2,3 and 4 on 3 different characters.
He managed to hit rank 1 in vanilla… so while he played in vanilla he either never hit max level and/or he NEVER pvped… cause rank 2 was stupidly easy to get.
Definitely a ninja. Their name will be spread across the server same day
Yes I will. You can be throwaway dps (druids are first to be tossed) that disagree, or you can join my group with my macro that say’s it.
but…but…!
Start your own group, make your own rules.
No but I plan to roll need on bows when a hunter is in the group as revenge.
My OCD gets triggered when people roll “need” on something that is clearly done for “greed”.
Thanks for the replies - some interesting things are being admitted/claimed here:
- Ninja looting does not exist in WoW
- Server reputation won’t matter like it used to
- A skilled tank/healer can take w/e they want and still find a groups/raids because demand>behavior
There’s a lot to unpack there…
You might want to “unpack” some of the more thoughtful, considered responses made on this thread and the 2 other threads on the same subject from last night.
My personal takeaway is that there is a variety of viewpoints from decent people (obvious troll posts aside) and no actual consensus on a “universal rule.” So the best thing to do is discuss loot rules at the beginning of a PUG. We’re not getting teleported straight into a dungeon, so there should always be time to discuss loot while group members are traveling to the dungeon or while the group is forming.
Just shame the f out of these people on server Discords. The community is going to have to make a decision: do we agree with that type of behavior or not?
Personally, I think Need is for upgrades that you’ll use right this instant. Everything else should be Greed.
Need on BoP items I can’t use? Of course not!
Need on BoE items I “can’t use?” Of course I will, as should everyone else in the party.
No one should be needing on BoE items they don’t intend to use. I wish Blizzard would make Needed items Bind on Pickup in Classic.
Someone who will actually use an item should have priority over someone who is just selling it, every single time.
I tend to agree with this. However, if not explicitly stated from the get-go, don’t be surprised when most are needing on BoEs that drop.
Says who? I’m need rolling on every BoE blue I come across to sell. If you make them BoP, what’s the mage gonna do with a two hander blue that drops while he’s questing? Not to mention you need these BoEs to circulate the economy. Go back to bfa if you’re so worried about boes
As a rule of thumb Groups tend to roll N on BoE rares/epics especially when pugging. However, if somebody in the group speaks up that they need the item as an upgrade I would pass the item over to them and make them equip it, if they didn’t then there would be a problem. However, if somebody was rolling Need on all green drops I would boot them from the group before the third green drop.
The suggestion that a NEED roll would bind a BOE to the winner.
Rolling GREED would still leave the item unbound and able to be sold.
BOE items dropping while soloing would not require a roll and would also remain unbound and able to be sold.
Wasn’t in vanilla so it has no place in classic. We must adhere to nochanges
The forums apparently are disproportionately filled with ninjas. Real classic won’t be that way.
Funny how some claim “no changes” only when it is convenient for some.
Do you also oppose loot trading, RCR and layering since you insist upon adhering to “no changes” and none of those were present during vanilla?
From where I’m sitting it appears the forums are flush with people who think anyone with an opinion or viewpoint that differs from their own is a “ninja.”
So apparently, if I put together a PUG and state at the beginning of the run that if any rare/epic BoEs drop, everyone in the group should roll “need,” and the group members agree to this, somehow I am a ninja. Bizarre.
But, I suppose if operating under the “rule” that you roll need on gear that is an upgrade, it would be cool as a paladin to roll against a druid for leather gear, because I can equip it and…upgrade. Now, some people do that, but I don’t. My point is context is important and there are nuances to getting along with people.
Being clear about your loot rules at the beginning helps everyone have a better experience. If you don’t like one group’s loot rules, simply move along and find another group, no hard feelings. If you don’t bother to discuss loot rules before a PUG and then get toxic when someone rolls in a way you don’t agree with, you are a big part of the problem.
