Will WOTLK become forever or Cataclysm?

I skipped MoP hoping they do MoP classic looked cool

If they do end up catering to the retailer’s asking for cata I hope they do it alongside fresh vanilla realms otherwise I’ll call it quits and go back to pservers.

MoP was fun. It had it’s quirks. And talking pandas
But yeah, it was fun. WoD though
that belonged nowhere else but the toilet.

People that started in wrath or prior that happen to be playing today, in large part, hated some of the cata changes, believe it or not. The content, most was fine. The stat/talent “revamp” that really wasn’t a revamp. Just simplified dog poop, bit us bad. Especially me. I hate it to this day.

I wouldn’t bother playing cata. I’d sooner continue the journey on current retail. And this is coming from someone who cleared every raid in every mode at that time, all those heroic dungeon achieves, etc. Dragon soul released, along with poop finder i mean raid finder. It was a hot mess, and a terrible end game raid (of course, my opinion).

Just my two cents. I think cata classic in player numbers would do fine, just like others. But definately not for me. There is zero nostalgia in that.

["Please exercise utmost caution when selecting your transfer destination. You are selecting either Classic Era or Wrath Classic.

Blizzard, can you please answer the Cataclysm question so we can make the correct decision on the transfer?

It’ll be a dark day if they don’t make it forever, they made vanilla forever and wrath is thousands of times the game vanilla is
 I don’t see why they wouldn’t.

I’m sure there are lot of people waiting on the sidelines, waiting on this decision before pulling the trigger to commit to WOTLK.

Hopefully they move it to Cata so there’s no reason for me to sub anymore lol

No. Already talk of a Cata launch coming up soon. I am going to hate it.

Mop bucket ruined Warlock, I would begrudgingly play Cata because the combat was still good (even though the xpac content was trash). Would not play MOP bucket (even though Pandaria was ok) due to combat becoming smart phone like.

Disagree, it was the worst time. Every class had like 3 spells and 6 talents to choose from, the spell effects looked nicer but every single class was soulless.

Everything was silly, the entire xpac was silly. Panda land was nice to look at and the art team did a good job but the xpac itself was aimed at smart phone gamers and little children.

These themes may appeal to you and that is okay, for me MOP is when wow no longer mattered. Even though I played the entire expac, If I had it to do over again I would have unsubbed during pre patch (and never came back until Wrath Classic).

This was actually the only expo I really enjoyed raiding Mistweaver monk was such a cool raid healer then they nuked it next expo and I quit. Would love to try them in MoP.

I liked the theme, pandas and the concept of monks (not so much the implementation of it)

Like the leveling areas and stories (outside of the stupid Horde vs Alliance BS) more than most of the other expansion outside of Wrath, Legion BC and Ally side of BFA.

And I was in my 40s at the time

WoW was always aimed at little kiddies.

I mainly hated the healing changes. Add in dungeons where healers couldn’t save people because 1 shot and healers got blasted in RDF. I changed to only runs with people I knew.

I also didnt like the big bad guy. Just didnt stick. Also didnt like the focus on hippy Thrall - though Thrall was my fav character. Just overall the setting was very bad for me -like SL is

I don’t think so it was aimed at gamers, teenagers and adults. WoW has always mostly been an adult game in it’s introduction and first 3 expansions.

As for me - I’m done at the end of wrath. IF I was to continue playing I’d want to start back over at Vanilla.

Maybe not season of mastery style but at least abbreviated server life. Like 1 year each.

A lot of these people who think cata and mop are bad probably would never in a million years be able to clear heroic content in cata like heroic firelands ect. So makes sense why they think it’s bad because they are bad. I will never want to go back to auto attack simulator know as vanilla and tbc where the only thing that separates a player from another player is how lucky you get on gear because there is literally no rotation in either of those expansions

Gamers did EQ, EQ2 and SWG. PVP gamers did DAoC.

Casuals did WoW. Many “real gamers” I knew IRL refused to play WoW because it was a cartoon game aimed at little kids. I was 35 the day it launched and I started. the 20s something gamers I played EQ and SWG with went to EQ2 even though they played WC 1,2 &3 because EQ was for “real gamers”

Honestly don’t know where you are getting this from. Just gonna disagree. WoW got a lot of it’s culture and design from Diablo which was a dark/explicit ARPG which had sexuality, nudity and gore.

WoW was aimed as expanding on Blizzards already successful gaming endeavors from Diablo. They didn’t make it for kids and you can see that by it’s early designs/expansions.

I was originally a Diablo player but waiting 6 years for a new expansion was rough and was talked into WoW in 2006. I unsubbed in MoP and cringed at the trailer when they decided to go with that kiddie april fools joke meme expansion. (that didn’t fit) In what was already established.

WoW became a kids game but it never was designed one or one in the early days/expansions. It was for teen/adults.

The game is rated for (Teen) of course they cut back on sexuality, gore and story eventually. WoW was always designed as a teen/adult game for gamers.

I will agree to disagree, but where I got it from was my RL experiences before and at the time of joining WoW at launch. I was 30 when EQ launched and I started playing it. I came to WoW with 5 years of other MMORPGs under my belt and was a single dad at the time. I played WoW after I put my kids to bed. I came here because it was easy and I could solo vs the other games I played before it.

If you look at the original box (or old magazine reviews articles) WoW was very clearly aimed at casuals - people who wanted to solo or could make progress by only playing a short time.

Edit -

Only thing I will add is if this was the case, they could have made a world of Diablo (which I never understood why they went WC). To me its a much better setting and NOT geared for kids. While I do love WoWs silliness, and things like Pandas and Vulpera, thew game itself is not like Diablo. The players want it to be, but WoW has a very earlier Disneyesque feel to it - kids jokes with adult humor if you can read into it.

Hopefully forever because i have not interest in playing cataclysm.

I want WotLK+
