Will we ever see Nightborne/Void Elf Demon Hunters?

Yes. It could happen. I have this strong suspicion though that even if a chance came for other races to be DH, gnomes wouldn’t get to be one. I am fine with this though because I already deeply enjoy rping this gnome as a DH.

As for my title, I am not sure you are prepared to handle the great responsibility that comes with being the Gnomest of them all. If you are though, you have a good opportunity to demonstrate that you are the Gnomest of them all. :sunglasses:

Demon Hunters have basically ruined me from enjoying any other class lately… The terrain is so slow to navigate on ground compared to classic Azeroth, so having the built in glide and mountain climbing abilities does wonders.

I’ve tried and tried again thru now and Legion to enjoy my Priest, my lock, my druid, my monk… none of them are working for me, and some of those I mained for years w/ few alts.

I’m struggling to play anything w/o the double jump and glide right now.

Now picture this same feeling, but as a gnome rogue pretending to be a demon hunter. It is hard for me to really get into other classes because I enjoy rping as a gnome DH so much like this. Mobility is also quite good as rogue.

well lore wise gnomes get the short end of stick (those gnomist devs even made reclaiming our glorious city boring event only)

I can guarantee I uphold the Gnomes blood fued agaisnt goblins and would gladly blight them all for making a mockery of engineering.

also im a warlock. I can always make you more of a real DH by burning your eyes from their sockets >:3 (see? im totally helpful!)

yeah. once you taste glide u miss it (as engineer i have glider and rocketboots to help)

if only i could fly you up in my rocket and eject you a mile high in sky :frowning:
but then they made parachutes get attached T~T!

devs never let me have any fun

I mained Rogue from late MoP thru WoD, and then the Legion class overhaul for Assassination was too much for me to enjoy and I dropped it then. I’ve tried and tried to go back to it, but if you recall that era—burst of speed spam—that has been hard to get over losing in terms of mobility, and when compared to DH its not even close when I can get over sticks and mountains that derail my rogue.

When I returned for BFA, my rogue was first to cap, geared up to 340 or so, and then just abandoned and back to the DH. I really wanted to like it again.

I main a warlock always.

Devs can make us OP or weakest and i;d still main her.

Just love gnomes and warlock too much to ever swap to a different main.

For the entire time I played only Assassination, and even though they made it strong (OP even) it just was not the same class whatsoever… it was turned into a DoT class, it removed the core abilities that made assassination feel like assassination. I really miss it and tried and tried to like it but it was clearly forced, so I moved on :frowning:

You’d be surprised just to the extent I go to mimic demon hunters on this character. Lemme give you a rundown how I mimic the mobility.

Basic Stuff

  1. Basics: There is sprint and 30 second hook.

  2. Hook can be used to break falls. I jump off cliffs and over dangerous areas constantly because I know I can break my fall with hook. Hooks take you roughly the distance of two few rushes and can be used to scale you to heights and spots that double jump cannot easily get you. Like for example. I’ve escaped demon hunters in wpvp by hooking onto roofs.

  3. Stuns: One of the strengths of outlaw rogue is that they are not only very mobile, but can also slow their opponents down and used range stuns on them. I almost never have any issue catching up to demon hunters trying to get away from me in wpvp even when they glide. Pistol shot also means I can attack while flying in gliders.

  4. Death from above: Very good gap closer and can even get me in reach of foes that are on cliffs or harder to reach spots.

Engineering tricks

Now thing about these tricks is that although many demon hunters can use these tricks. Many times they won’t because they think they don’t need them. And they also don’t utilize them to the extent I do usually… So a rundown:

  1. Nitro boosts. This is a common one, but super useful non the less. That burst of speed is super helpful for catching up to foes.

  2. Goblin Gliders: Again this is also common, this really helps mobility and it moves faster than demon glide and also demon hunters cannot use ranged attacks while in glide.

  3. Gnomish Gravity well: Basically this item lets you make a few jumps into the air. Very useful if trying to gain some height.

  4. Because of the fact that I am dedicated and willing to sacrifice stats for rp purposes, I use a parachute attached to my cloak. Good for downtimes when cannot use goblin glider, but tricky to use.

  5. Gun Packs

These are expensive so I use them sparringly, but they can provide a small jump. Good when assisted with goblin gliders.

Just a few of the big ones. With this set up though the result is that I manage to feel very mobile.

Aww, my rogue was an engineer too and damn this brings back the memories. Before the nerf in WoD, I had a set of gear made up from vanilla thru MoP pieces that increased movespeed, and I’d wear it while in stealth with a macro to switch to my main gear when I attacked out of stealth.

With burst of speed, my baseline was faster than ground mounts—I could chase them down, unmounted, while stealthed—and then Sap. Not to mention sprint and nitro boosts made me even faster. When the boots blew up, it was a blessing paired w/ the glider.

Ahh Draenor, the expansion that was lackluster but brought so much joy in wPVP. Classes were broken and fun.

Didn’t stop Blizz from adding Worgen/Goblin to Death Knights, despite the playable variants being specifically from the time between Arthas’ fall and Deathwing starting the Catactlysm.

I miss that too and there is a lot of other really hard nerfs that annoy me which happened. Since this is the closest way I can mimic the experience of a demon hunter on a gnome, my class of choice is outlaw rogue.

When processing the loss of assassination I tried to get a feel for outlaw and it didn’t click with me, I should have given it more time but mostly I was cursing the loss of assassination—I couldn’t get over the spec not having dispatch, it was so central to how it played. I’m still sad.

There are many lovely pictures I have of adventures that have been done in the past as this gnome DH so to speak.

One of the most satisfying of them is defeating people in PvP wearing level 90 glaives as a cute gnome.

Nightborne will never be DH. Doesn’t make sense lorewise. Nightborne were cut off from the outside world up until legion.

But I liberated them on my DH and WoD taught me that I’m the most important lore character soooooo

The Felborne nightbourne could be demon hunters, form the perspective of the player, since some of them use glaives and they are infused with fel energy.

I am honestly picturing a Subtlety Rogue that could jump, glide, and shoot beams out of their eyes.

All the explanation I need; Blizzard we’re ready for our new Nightborne DH overlords.

One aspect that there missing is having a demon inside them. The felborne are just corrupted by fel. Similar to that of Guldan , Cordana, and other characters. They don’t have a demonic essence inside them . The nightelves and some bloodelves took the ritual to become demonhunters by binding demonic essence into there bodies. wow wiki.fandom .com/ wiki/Demon_Hunter
(won’t allow links but thats the site that has the stuff on it)

Course with how bad bfa story is going. I am sure the devs and narrative team will ignore things and push to release nightborne and other races as demonhunter. Only to retcon it later.
