Just wondering if the WoW Token will actually go back up to an amount of gold that doesn’t feel like a complete rip off.
Maybe if it makes it up to cata.
If enough people purchase it with gold it’ll slowly start to creep back up, but people aren’t and won’t do that so no.
Oh, so you’re not unsubbing because of the WoW token and are now thinking about buying it?
If I had the patience/time I’d go back through your posting history to quote you on all the bashing you did of it and how you were on your way out because of it.
Prime example of why I don’t take people’s “I’m unsubbing!” seriously.
Regarding your question though, it might. Depends on how many people stop posting so many of them to drive it down.
I did unsub. But I also resubbed because Wrath is my favorite expansion and I’d rather play it than not play it.
I never said I was thinking about buying a token, I said it was a ripoff for 5k.
Only way I would ever even think about buying a wow token is if I could get at least 20k gold from it. 1$ per 1000 gold seems fair.
Seems like it’s on a downward spiral TBH. I want to say that the token did the same originally in WoD, but I don’t really remember. I don’t feel like it collapsed as hard as as Classic’s has.
Chances are, short term, the token price continues to drop. ToGC is a joke of a raid so the demand for gold is very low in general, and that demand will only go down as ToGC goes on. Come ICC I would expect a price spike.
If they ever make it turn into Bnet balance then value goes way up. Cata won’t save it because gold continues to become less relevant as the game goes on
maybe once they finally make it a true token and let people turn it into blizzard balance as well as game time
I just shook my magic 8 ball and it said “maybe”
That’s unlikely. The only thing you can sell gold for is a sub. And at less than 5k those who want to sell gold for a sub will soon have months worth of sub time. There will always be more people wanting to buy gold, more gold than people are willing to sell. Unless something changes, like selling gold for the blizzard store or blizzard manipulating the price, the amount of gold you get for $20 will either stay where it’s at or go even lower.
Destined to … just like bitcoin … ;p
Yeah, it didn’t collapse as hard as classic did. It started at 30k, dropped to 18k within a few days, then slowly recovered to 30k a few months later, reaching a peak of 50k before dipping down again.

Thats child labor levels of cost. And if its so easy to get gold why would anyone need to buy it off of gold sites or the token?
I just got game time for 4200, was going to save up for the Northern Barrier but it tripled in price over night from about 6-7k to 17k so game time it was.
It was cheap for a while during retail when it first came out but i’m pretty sure Blizzard added inflation to it’s pricing at some point.
Blizzard doesn’t really care what the price of the token specifically is. If the price is low few are buying tokens, but the ones who do are buying more. If the price is high everyone is buying tokens, but individually they are buying fewer because the gold gets them further.
The pricing of the token goes up because inflation in retail is just crazy, for various reasons. What they definitely have incentive to do with the WoW token is create a need for gold to give people incentive to buy tokens. They can introduce things like, say the brutosaur, for 5M gold which is a massive grind to get, and then arbitrarily take it away which creates FOMO.
Doing that kind of manipulation of gold value is far smarter than actually manipulating the price of the token specifically, which some people accuse them of doing. Given that the WoW token has been presented as working as a supply/demand concept and the fact that they profit off of it it’s very likely they would be in hot water if it was ever discovered that they were manipulating the token price to boost sales. Even if they weren’t it’s far more subtle to manipulate gold value within the game as it would be terrible PR for the WoW playerbase to learn that they’ve been manipulating the price behind the scenes.
Yeah I remember trying to wait out a dip to buy tokens, and it never happened.
Right now it’s hovering between 4k-5k, but is trending SLIGHTLY downwards. It’ll bottom out at some point, and then likely slowly trend upwards as inflation runs its course. If Classic runs out of steam it could continue to depreciate as the only value to buying a token right now is additional gametime. If Blizzard ever puts it into bnet balance, which I bet they will, it will cause a massive spike.
The price will go back up if they ever allow it to be redeemed for Blizzard Balance like retail tokens.
Currently the only way to do this is to trade wow classic gold for retail gold and buy the token there.
not while people continue to pay $20 for it and sell it at its current gold value
I kind of hope it goes so low that blizz hasto sell them for 5 bucks or less. Show them for bringing it in lol. And show all those who bought a bunch that easy gold doesn’t exist
People will buy more tokens when they realize wrath is the end and that they should convert their gold to game time.
They just don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel yet. Just wait.
Price will go up to 10k and then you will wish you bought a token for 5k.
I personally am loving the fact that my sub is paid through next February.
Not til you can exchange them for bnet balance.
